Do I miss something? I only see Takanos name in that description. And "Taikin", what seems to be the nickname of Naito? Where dou you get Habutas name from?
Habu-Yan which is Habuta. as I know, all of these nicknames by Oda. also sugita is "Osugi".

I think it's very possible for One Piece to end in around a 7 year span. By next summer I think we could at least see Wano in the stages of wrapping up. Then we go to Elbaf, where basically anything could happen, though I don't think we'll be treated to any big new antagonist group that will spawn a large number of new plotlines. After that we could realistically see the endgame, which could certainly take several years like other shonen final arcs, although One Piece may not be consigned to this fate - if Luffy does not develop a significant personal stake in taking down the World Government, that stuff could be simplified (not offscreened, but not the main focus) in favor of the final clash vs. the Blackbeard Pirates. If Oda and his editors have this sort of plan in mind, five years seems like a fine super conservative estimate to make, though obviously we all know Oda is not going to follow that tight of a schedule. Not that I'd want him to, he's not old and I feel like trying to end things in 5 years would severely limit the flow of the story.
We know half of the Tobi roppo fruits, and of the calamities, Yamato changes the projection a little, but Orochi is pushing up the gas with the execution.
It is so weird that we don't have a buster call, a giant bomb, a moving wall of wires, an island sized ball of lightning, or the worst enemy of all, an inminent sunrise that will erase you, this time we have a socially-drunk Kaido and a calm Big Mom.

Its still early. We can get our ticking time bomb later.
A socially-drunk Kaido and a calm Big Mom is not that bad of a time bomb, imo, but I'm sure it's just until the alarm goes off. Then we'll get another.
The pirates are alrready causing a comotion but Kaido and BM are still pretty chill, they think it's at most a couple of crews and they can take care of them easily, it's a great party even. But now Kanjuro has already told them "The scabbards are also coming!", and Orochi is going to execute Momo on the dance floor, and Big Mom is about to arrive there chasing Nami and the other girls, and Neko and Marco are almost there, and then something else will happen, and all of it will reach a climax, end of act, and next act we have a much more urgent time bomb.
If you compare this assault with the assault on Ennies Lobby, this is just Luffy running around defeating 5 hundred agents and Spandam thinking he defeat 5 agents. We haven't even got to the fight with Blueno, which will be around the Momo execution when all the pieces converge before splitting again.
The basic structure is the same, but since we've already seen the assault on EL, this one needs to be much bigger and thougher.
(this is of course my point of view, Oda usually throws some curve balls that I never see coming)

Technically you have a Perospero that is mad at everything so yeah.
Hi guys, just joined. This thread is awesome, wish I had found out about it a couple years ago. Well, I have 100+ pages to read

thanks for all the info sandman and other members
Oh my! Thanks Scotch! Looks like the tragedy and possibly conclusion of Act 3 is fast approaching!

It could also just be who Kiku cut tbh. Maybe it doesn't get addressed next chapter. I almost half expect an Oden clone from Kanjuro. Tbh, Oda definitely aligns his chapters with correlating numbers:
There are many more like this just these are off the top of my head.
Anyway, the point I'm making is Chapter 1000 is a monumental achievement. I personally expect Act 3 to end closer to 997 or 998 because Chapter 1000 should more likely be something related to the outside world plots (Sabo, Vivi, Blackbeard/Pluton, etc) rather than just a mid-Act chapter. Just my assumption on the matter. Act 3 doesn't "feel" like its ending yet imo.
Takano Ken in One Piece Live Stream today, commented on Chapter 986 or 987, he said: "I cried for the first time since I became OP Editor" *text not accurate.
And here is the Video:
Not clear about the number of chapter but Iwasaki said: "the jump after next jump" so it looks like Chapter 987.
Thanks Greg for clarification!
Yup, I cried as well. Great chapter lol
Wut. There wasn't anything cry-worthy in the chapter. Random editor hype ftl. Momo sticking with his name is nice but more in a good-for-you kinda way. Scabbard attacking Kaido, we don't even see the results of that and they're barely distinct characters anyway so meh.

For how unfleshed out most of them are, they for sure are all hella distinctive.
1. Kinemon as our main guy.
2. Big ole fat Ashuri Dojo as an old boss and thief.
3. Kawamatsu a Kappa and fishman.
4. Giant Cat who is hilarious.
5. Giant Dog with a sword for a leg.
6. Denjiro would be boring if he was as he was in the flashback, but the light hair, pompadour, and his general story is pretty unique.
7. Raizo the ugly ninja.
8. Badass giant beautiful woman with a scary mask.
9. Her brother, who is the least interesting outside of having been on Roger's crew.
10. Kanjuro, the ugly Kabuki man with a giant brush.
This is a pretty distinctive group. I don't know how you could possibly mix any of these guys up. I agree that a lot of them (Ashura Doji and Raizo) could use some fleshing out, but I can't understand the rest not being distinctive.
edit: If they were a pirate crew they'd be among the most varied, along with the Straw Hats, Big Mom Pirates, and Foxy's crew.
As for cry worthy. None of it was for me, but I thought Momo's stand was definitely an effectively emotional moment, as was Kin's placing of the hat on Kanjuro and the SUNACCHI!
He meant he was crying for the awesomeness of the chapter and i can totally see it! It was a great chapter
Kinemon had to go out into a world that he didn't know and was 20 years into the future. Lose Momo, all of his Scabbards and get sliced into pieces. To go from that to finally landing an attack with the real Scabbards is a big moment, but not something i'm invested in.
Something i'm into would be Hiyori doing what her mother did while Oden was away. Remember what Kinemon told Oden about Toki gaining the people's respect. After being this fake prostitute and playing people, imagine if she could prove Kaido wrong. He said in 986 that the fools in the Flower Capital were in a festival and unaware of their final night of freedom. Imagine if Hiyori is pulling a Shinobu, but telling all of Wano the truth and gaining their trust. That would be dope. Not to cry for, but still a great moment to show that the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree with Hiyori and Toki.
Kin's journey could've ended on Punk Hazard as a puzzle piece, but it turned into igniting the dream war against Kaido
Edit: That would be a great trivia question. How many separate pieces was Kin's head in when the locked up crew met him? I would definitely have a hard time remembering this. I did trivia last year on Discord and most forgot about Tonjit and Chou Chou, not just their names. Or whose opened a fridge on a cover story and there was a DF there?

I did mean non-distinct as in they mostly all serve the same role as Kozuki retainer #(1-9) and have minimal self-interests or goals. Neko and Inu standing out because they were introduced as rulers of a separate nation entirely and do have lives outside of being scabbards, and Izou ditching it entirely to become a pretty Wano pirate bro. But even design-wise most of them are visually "Yep that's a Wano Samurai", just with different shapes and sizes. I'd hardly call it varied, especially when compared to those other groups. Even the Tobi Roppo are more diverse, coming from different backgrounds and having different goals, appearances, and attitudes.

I think for a crew of retainers that were all supposed to evoke "samurai" Oda did a good job. I mean they literally are all samurai and the Tobi Roppo (and other examples) aren't. I'm only strongly arguing for their designs, although I've never thought of them as homogenously motivated as you seem to, even though it all comes down to love for Oden.
Being inside Oda's office with all his notes about the story, its the real life equivalent of being in Laugh Tale

Indeed .
Is that a hint? Is he gonna pull a Grant Morrison?
Nothing to spill. I just understand that feeling very, very much.
I've reach page 44 today and omg so many info
I wonder if Oda will officially go on record for how many arcs/islands are left after Wano. Since there's a lot of points of contention about how or when the series can/will end, it'd be interesting to hear his answer. Like I wonder if he'd give a "about 2 or 3 islands left" type if statement, if ever

To me, Oda is way more credible than any comment from editors, but at the same time, his comments aren't as credible as what's going on in the story. I feel there would be a pattern of arcs giving things closure and new elements not popping up as much.
In the middle of of the Arrancar arc, I still had questions about the Soul King and why there was friction between Quincy and Soul Reapers. Kubo addressed that, even tho he could've ended it and did it in bonus novels. I knew when there was enough to close the door on Bleach or even how close Kingdom (kind of easy for this) is.
We all mostly agree on what is a smaller point and what is a larger plot point left. The difference is that some believe in the pattern of recent comments saying it's almost over and don't factor in that the crew obviously isn't ready and there are more new components being added than old plot points receiving closure. Once Oda starts to do that in story, then i'd believe all the comments stated. Oda addressing this would be amusing.

I think the difference is, One Piece isn't just character driven, its entirely world driven unlike bleach. The mysteries of the world necessitate it being answered in the actual plot, unlike Bleach where most its lore could have (and actually has) been written in novels and it would sffect the actual plot.
One piece is wholeheartedly driven on the mystery of One Piece, The Void Century, the workings of the WG, The Ancient Weapons and the Will of D. By its very nature, that is the end goal of the series. The soul king squad zero were added in midway through the series and it was never really a goal to obtain, just more lore information to know.
Imo, aside from the characters, this is why One Piece is taking so long. The world scope is super huge and the plot 100% relies on that (the concept of rebellion, being free, Luffy gathering allies, etc. They take time to do).

Knowing the answer to those mysteries isn't the end all be all. When it comes to this whole topic, I always fall back on what Rayleigh said. He can answer all of those for them, but would the crew be ready to not just meet the standards of Roger's crew, but surpass them. The fact that Roger's crew failed in some way and he put them in the same category as Ohara, says all I needed to know. The SH crew can get all of the PGs and go to Laugh Tale, but would they be equipped to do what the Roger Pirates couldn't?
Gaining the knowledge (D., weapons, WG) at a certain pace as they develop as a crew and individually has been the pattern all along. This is why I view this chunk of knowledge from this Yonko Saga as a new beginning and not the endgame. I bet in the end, every conflict that they've endured will mirror what happened in the Void Century. Oppression, bonding as friends or fam, greed, promises, what one regards as treasure, ambition, disposition, Will, etc.
The Squad Zero weren't really the critical part of what I questioned or what Kubo wanted to answer with that plot. It was why the Soul King is just relied on, while most don't question or challenge it. The Quincy being major victims of not challenging this entity, took it further than Aizen did and that was all I needed to know, but as we both said "could've been in a novel".
The main character's hardships and triumph might mirror the mystery in OP. When the crew admires what the Minks did for Raizo, what Fisher Tiger did, it's because they would or at least want to do that for each other. I see the story of the Void Century touching them in the same way. Even the Roger Pirates laughed. Whatever the mystery is, I bet it is understandable and can be related to by the crew's experience.

For one thing Roger's crew were about 25 years too soon to do anything.
Plus it seems even as strong as they were, they wouldn't have been able to do anything. Every where Luffy goes he turns people into his allies. Alabasta, Fishman Island, Dressrosa, probably Elbaf very soon I'd bet,
the Minks and Wano - he's building a huge alliance/army for the inevitable war that is coming….

Yeah, there are things available that weren't around back then. The connections that you pointed out can also include Koby, Fuji and Smoker 1 day. The possible allies in the WG. For Garp to take in Ace is a big deal and taking on Rocks happened. I bet Roger had some WG respect as well. When I say surpass or meet the standards of Roger's crew, i'm talking about these connections as a crew, with other organizations (Yonko, WG, etc) and kingdoms.
Oda gave us a whole new batch of royals in the Reverie event. Are they just gonna pick the WG or Luffy in the end w/ no context? Not saying Oda has to flesh all of them out. I bet some of them are meant to interact with the crew or at least Vivi and/or Revolutionary Army.
Oda’s new interview with Japanese vocal group called Arashi will be aired on TV show on 27th, August.
His another interview in Color Walk 9 will be published on 16th, September.
Oda already made a collaboration color spread with Aarashi in chapter 967

It's all good, but 'next appearance of JoyBoy' factor complicate many things. It amplifies Roger's predicaments as something more like not being 'fated' rather than not being 'able'. Of course these two things are mutually exclusive as well.

Seriously. I find him annoying too, but not so annoying that I have him blocked, because his takes tend to foster pretty good discussion from other people who are more reasonable. If he bothers you a lot, just block him. It's a great feature. Or not, I don't actually care about the arguing, but if you aren't using the block/ignore feature because you don't know about it, that was my endorsement.
