It'd be nice if Sakura grew up someday. I know the damn sailor outfit is "iconic" but really, long as she has the headband and gloves she looks like Sakura. She needs to get out of the jailbait outfit already, its been like 20 years.
SF 1 -> SF 4 -> SF 2 -> SF 3 -> SF 5
Is that right ?
An older Sakura would be nice, but I still want her in the sailor uniform because I love the idea that she's failed to graduate from High school because she spends too much time fighting and not enough time studying.

Eeehhhh. She says she wears it because 'she finds it comfortable'. She's graduated high school by Street Fighter 4, but wears it because it's what she prefers to wear. At the same time, I kind of feel some characters wear their outfit as kind of a 'uniform to who they are as a fighter'. Kind of like how Chun-Li wears her usual outfit despite being Interpol.
Regardless, I would actually be really happy if Sakura wore more jogger jumpsuits or a karate gi.

Don't forget Alpha, aka 0.

and yeah, I wouldn't mind if Sakura used her bloomers+sweatshirt as default uniform. Though that's actually pretty high-school as well, huh.

I was thinking more along the lines of her Street Fighter 4 ending.
Man, those two need to hook up officially already. I know Ryu has basically said that he wants to wait until he no longer wishes to train or fight, but who knows when that will be. Still, you gotta respect the fact that Sakura takes his lack of action as a challenge to train herself in hopes to become as strong as him.
Okay, here's something else on my SFV wishlist - cutscenes that don't suck. If you can't draw or animate, then just use the in-game models. worked well for SFxT.
Can they make the final boss Akuma/Oni?
I guess its already time Ryu had his deal done with him.

Oh and apparently Ryu X Chun-Li is a thing too
You know, for a character who has never had a romantic fling with anyone, Chun-Li sure gets shipped with everyone. Even Ken, and he's married!
Some by NeoGAF said to be reliable Rrandom informations:
Not a bad idea for them to do. A lot of people love to poke fun at them for making so many releases and Ultra Street Fighter 4 was basically a DLC update, anyways. It will also allow people to keep the basic copy and not worry about having to buy another game.

I'm guessing Guile X Chun-Li from the live action movie is disavowed…...for obvious reasons.

anyways. It will also allow people to keep the basic copy and not worry about having to buy another game.
But still elicit complains from people who may abhor the idea of paying anywhere from 15 to 40 dollars to update their game…....along with potentially causing problems for people who may have had to buy the hard copy updates of SF4 because they didn't have the means to download them instead.
I'm really interested to see more about this game. I liked what they did with SFIV by updating it regularly are a fair price IMO.
The only bad thing is that the huge roster will have to be cut a lot for the first iteration. My guess would be around 20 max with about 6 newcomers.
My main Vega seems low priority unfortunately.
I hope they make a decent story mode this time.
- Capcom seems to really not like the dozen of release of the game (AE, Super, Ultra) they want a single strong brand name and update it from here (DLC)
I'll believe it when I see it.
- Capcom seems to really not like the dozen of release of the game (AE, Super, Ultra) they want a single strong brand name and update it from here (DLC)
Remember that time Capcom was like, "We're not going to do that with Marvel vs Capcom 3." And then they totally did that.
Capcom: "See, I never just did things just to do them. Come on, what am I gonna do? Just all of a sudden jump up and grind my feet on somebody's couch like it's something to do? Come on. I got a little more sense then that."
pause
Capcom: Yeah, I remember grinding my feet on Eddie's couch.
This discussion just came up in the Smash thread, and I don't really want to regurgitate it, but… I just don't understand the problem everyone has with the name updates rather than DLC... when the actual pricing comes out to be about the same either way.
If when they released a new edition of the game they charged full 70$ price for it, and they did it just six months later, as they did with MvC3, that'd be bad... (but that was special circumstances due to the massive earthquakes in Japan) or when the DLC is on-disk and was obviously ready at launch, that's... not good.
But in general, at least with SF, the re-releases start at a much lower price point, and come out some 2 years apart (long enough to make an actual numbered sequel in other companies.) ... and for less than the DLC for all the new characters, costumes, and levels would be separately.
(Even back on the SNES day with SF2, it wasn't super outrageous... it was mostly bad because the home ports lagged behind the arcade releases... so that by the time Super hit the home consoles, the arcade already had Super Turbo... and everyone expected that to follow a few months later and it never did.)
I really don't understand the split between "DLC is okay, but renamed release is bad!" even though... its basically exactly the same thing?
From what I've seen over the years, most of the complaints about the different releases of SFIV come from people who didn't play the game.
From the outside, they can't get how fair Capcom has been since Super SFIV. Their only "mistake" was not developing the original one to allow updates and thus the first buyers had to buy a new disk. Still, it wasn't full priced and it came with a really big expansion (10 new characters, 2nd ultra, new musics…).
Now, with this one, I don't see them making the same mistake.
And I don't see it as a good idea to stop releasing new disks in parallel to the dlc. With SFIV, it was a good way for a new player to catch up to the latest version, and cheaper than buying SSFIV + DLC updates. Plus, it's more convenient for tournaments or simply to play it on someone else's console.
I really don't understand the split between "DLC is okay, but renamed release is bad!" even though… its basically exactly the same thing?
I would say because you have to buy another physical copy of same game while DLC is merely added onto the disc you already own. Both are similar in function, I will admit. But I remember my dad having less-then-kind words bout all the updated releases of SF2, feeling it was them being a bunch of greedy bastards.
"DLC is merely added onto your hard drive where you might not have space for it, instead of running off the disk!!"
There's still ton of reason to have hard disks to run things on.
Some by NeoGAF said to be reliable Rrandom informations:
- Unreal Engine 4
- Stage won't be static. They will load with random time of day and weather. Not entirely random though, not all stages will have all ToD nor weather conditions. Won't affect gameply, just to make stage look more evolutive and less static. Destructible stages.
- New system called V Trigger, not sure yet how much it will cost, if you can super or whatever, but will allow new stance, more offensive, ex attacks. Seems to double the hit on attacks. Really not sure about that though. Also, in trailer, Ryu does V Trigger combo and guard crush Chunli. Not sure if definitive.
- Capcom seems to really not like the dozen of release of the game (AE, Super, Ultra) they want a single strong brand name and update it from here (DLC)- They will work on a solo mod. They acknowledge SF4 was totally lacking here.
- Of course cast will be reduced but should have new comers at launch. Don't be surprise to see new characters from north africa, south america or south east asia, as capcom is targeting these new markets
Thanks for the awesome info!
However, about the info in bold, I wouldn't hold my breath since this is Capcom we are talking about.-_-

Sure hope your dads not one of those technophiles who buys the newest version of a tablet or phone every year or two. Cause damn if that'd be hilarious in hindsight. Though seriously parents just don't understand.

I completely agree. Ultra, for example, had a crazy amount of content for just 15 bucks, and it came 3 years after the last time I paid (again just 15 bucks) for content.
And I had friends who wanted to jump in, so they were glad they could just pick up the newest version (with all costumes) for 40 bucks and just be ready to play with me, they didn't have to download anything.
Honestly, I really like the model Capcom has used for SFIV. And given the response people had when they've done DLC fighters (MvC, SFxT), I could see them wanting to stay the hell away from that.
also I'm loving the chappelle references, guys. Prince-inspired character WHEN.

Ah, it's all good. No way you could've known, after all.
But on the subject of characters, does anyone think it's kinda odd that Birdie, the one character in Street Fighter actually the most like a actual street fighter, is fairly unpopular compared to other characters like say, someone like Dudley or a oddball like Hakan?

Birdie is super unpopular. I think it's not so much that he's an actual street fighter, but just that his design is kind of a mess, and he's a big ugly dude. At least he's not as unpopular as Rufus - I think Team EG members might be the only people who actually like him.
I thought Cody was the closest to an actual street fighter.

Damn the japanese poll has 7 of the top ten slots filled with female characters.
I thought Cody was the closest to an actual street fighter.
Both sort of are. Cody has the weapon usage and is based in a boxing kind of style while Birdie is the token huge thug who fights with brute strength and viciousness.

Well, no one like Rufus. Strange that Gill is so unpopular, though.
Kinda surprised at Rufus being so low. I thought he was one of those goofball characters that people were at least ok with.

Chun-Li and Cammy are in the Top 5.

It's kind of a two handed problem.
On one side, you have people who think he's a gross and unfunny joke character.
But on the other hand, he's so huge and powerful in the tournament world, that people are sick of him. Seriously, when Rufus mirror matches happen in tournaments, you can hear everyone verbally groan.
I personally have no issue with Rufus. But in terms of the "goofball character", everyone loves themselves some Dan.

What's surprising about that list to me is how high R. Mika and Karin are. I like them both, but I'd expected Street Fighter 4 to influence opinions. SF4 seems to have done the opposite for every new character except Juri.
Also, I just realized that Street Fighter EX characters aren't included. :(
@S.C.:

It ain't easy being cheesy.

Well that's no big surprise since they are Arika's property, not Capcom's.
I know… I know... :(

You hit the Rufus issue on the head.
As for Mika, Karin, Q, and some others who haven't been in a SF game for a while yet placed highly, remember that there are people meta-voting. The question was just "who is your favorite", but it's hard to not think that the hidden question is "who would you like to see in the next game". Someone's #1 favorite might be Chun-Li, but realizing that she's always going to be in, voted for Karin instead to try and boost her popularity.
That also explains why the SFI cast got any votes at all, people think it would be cool to see Retsu or Lee or whoever get resurrected.
I don't know if you guys saw Capcom Cup tonight, but…

Extended trailer and proof of our... friend:
I didn't really see any of that aerial combo stuff people (myself included) thought we'd see. It's really just Chun having a long-ass air string, which she already sort of has.
also, no guard break meter - just revenge and EX (so like SFIV). I didn't notice any guard breaks from repeated hits in the gameplay, but I'm pretty sure Ryu's EX hadouken breaks it.
the stage transitions are only at end of round, and noodle-bowl chun is godlike. animations looked slick, too. the UI - it's a work in progress. But overall I'm pleased with how it all looks, aesthetically.
and I'm 99% sure that's Charlie, resurrected with Gill's gem bullshit.
also 500k prize pool goddamn

Wonder how long til Chun-Li's dead father is revealed to not be dead.
OMG… Charlie <3
Same hairstyle, same glasses, a short but awesome orchestrated version of his theme from SFA1&2 playing in the background…...yep, that's him! :D
What's new here is that glowing dot on his head. Judging from that, I'm guessing he got revived by the Illuminati (the same organization that Gill and Urien work for) and is now working for them.
This excites me! I miss a lot of those Alpha/Zero characters, really, but none more so than him.
The thing that I am most looking forward is if Guile's theme will go with everything.
If Charlie is in the game (maybe a mid boss or a secret character), then we can expect to see Guile in the roster ?
If Charlie is in the game (maybe a mid boss or a secret character), then we can expect to see Guile in the roster ?
I'd hope so. I mean, Guile threw away his family life in attempt to get revenge for Charlie's death. For Charlie to suddenly be alive (and potentially evil due to Gill's resurrection) would be a tremendous blow to Guile.
The only way he's not playable is if Capcom emphasizes that he is either too old to fight (saying that this game is post-SF3), that he is dead, or that Charlie killed him.
I've always thought that maybe Guile's daughter, Amy, might end up being a fighter. It'd be neat considering she'd be cousins with Mel, Ken and Eliza's son. Man, I really, really wanted Street Fighter V to be like a '30 years after Street Fighter IV' type story. Like Soul Calibur V's story, but not absolute shit.
I'm shocked how poorly E. Honda performs O_o
I didn't expect him to enter the top 10, but this guy is super iconic!
!
