Hey, guys, how's it going? I'm currently working on a story right now and I've reached an impasse. I want to include a ritual initiation type of thing for the youth as they move onto adulthood. The setting has a type of Neolithic/Early Sumerian type feel. Anyhow, I usually use research to give me some basis on these types of things but I can't find anything worthwhile. All that keeps popping into my head for inspiration is the Naruto Chunnin exam and my own Fraternity's; neither of which seem useful in light of the story's tone.
So, basically, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about ancient or tribular rites of passage and initiations? Or especially a site or book I can read up on them in that isn't Wikipedia, haha. This probably isn't the best place to find it but AP is the only forum I actively read, so even the most minimal help would be amazing. Thanks!
