I haven't posted in my making-fun-of-mangapanda topic (a.k.a. abridged) in a while…
http://apforums.net/showthread.php?t=41814
…but plan to after the end of the arc, abridging the entire last part of it.
If you think Mangapanda's been bad lately, though, some of the ones shown there are the real nightmares.
Chapter 779: "Final Fight"
-
-
one of the flyers is lying on the ground, its about the tokyo pirate festival
but its clearly something else in Nami's hand.. i thought i saw someone on it
-
So you're saying Luffy actually wanted to kill Bellamy and was trying to kill him with this punch?
Sure, Bellamy wanted to die in that attack, but that doesn't mean Luffy was playing along.
But then it's a little contradicting, because Luffy used an attack that might have killed Bellamy while not trying to kill him at the same time.
And if Luffy actually went along with Bellamy and decided to give him death, then what the fuck!?Perhaps he seen that Bellamy is as resolved to die as it can get, close to how Luffy was when he fought Lucci and didnt gave a f. about what will happen getting back on feet as long as he had to, even going back when he should be dead.
So he took risk and punched Bellamy seeing its this or Doflamingo takes away also Law and other people. Like being a man he mentioned but from his pov in situation that he was in.

I dont understand all those breaks. This arc is becoming too big and too long. The last time we saw bellamy we got a break then niw another… Is Oda sick or something again?
Oda has been taking a break after 3-4 chapters for quite a while now.
-
Good thing that this chapter was full, update on all from dressrosa, factory out, bellamy out(i'm sure now he won't join shs), final battle and maybe Burgess only things left. If law is that "dead" maybe Sabo will beat trebol?
-
but its clearly something else in Nami's hand.. i thought i saw someone on it
It's the same pamphlet that appears on other spots of the spread.
It's just an advertisement for the "Pirate Festival" in Tokyo.
-

He simply slowed down as he has family and lately he started to get sick more often than ever before.
So Shonen Jump is forcing those breaks on him in a way.Think about his life for a moment and be grateful that you get such story thanks to him. There is plenty other things to do then complain on Oda taking well deserved breaks to at least have a bit more rest and something more from life than he has spending entire years working on manga.
-
Aging men just don't have the same stamina… sends Oda some viagra
All right! 10 chapters a week! -
I think that Koala is afraid of one of Kaidous Crewmembers. Making his way up to the top of the Palace and asking for what happened to the Country and the SMILE-Factory. Someone who deliever usually the Smile-Supplys from Dofla to Kaidou. That would be great.:ninja:

But then it's a little contradicting, because Luffy used an attack that might have killed Bellamy while not trying to kill him at the same time.
And if Luffy actually went along with Bellamy and decided to give him death, then what the fuck!?It not contradicting , remember luffy does not want to hit him at all because it might kill him so he try to talk him down .
But Bellamy thinks there is no way out so he rather die by the hand of someone he respect that also call him friend .
So luffy having no choice hit him even thought he might died because that is all he can do for him and is now piss since don force Bellamy to do this . -
I expect Luffy to say no to being healed by Masherry and Bellamy being the one that will get healed instead of him after Luffy asks princess for it.
i hope so, it would be boring to see law healed and brand new
-
Not that I didn't think he had it before, but does this chapter 100% confirm Mihawk can use COA at least?
-
It's nowhere near enough to ruin what was a pretty good chapter.
For me.
Forgot that part.
See, the difference between you and me is that my standarts are a lot higher, evidently.
Where you see a pretty good chapter, I see a pretty horrid one. Might be because I don't care for Bellamy, or because I find the sudden friendship between him and Luffy to be forced. Or it might be multiple other reasons.
No, incredibly stupid cliffhanger is not what ruined this chapter for me. At the same time, "The rest was good" it's an excuse, not proper counter-argument.
-
it would be nice if mensherry would heal luffy after the fight with dofla and not law as most of us anticipate
Yeah I could see that happing. He could always have chopper heal him up back at Zo. Could be a good way for Luffy to sit out any action that might take place at Zo.

Could you elaborate on what it was that did ruin the chapter for you?
-
Wow, been a while since we've seen Luffy bruised and struggling (even though people have questioned the match up against Bellamy)
Speaking of, dude took a massive beating…..I don't know if it's funny or sad that he went down in the same angle/attack style, this time with a harder punch to meet his face. Luffy is appropriately pissed, but I don't know a scene with him declaring to Doflamingo "Bellamy was my friend" can really be super credible.
Really Bellamy needed more screentime.
As for Law….ha, Dofla must be losing it. This is the same guy who got shot with lead, he's not dying. Bellamy either because....good god, Doflamingo was the one who "killed" both of these guys before, and they both survived. It'd be hiliarous if Luffy pointed this out.
-
A breather chapter. Nice to check in with people, but only the scene with Koala made my pulse beat a little faster (crush? Noooo).
Bellamy's defeat was… anti-climatic. No twists, no 'omg he DID actually die', just a manly tear reinforcing that he was grateful to Luffy for beating his stupid ass down.
I guess he and Rebecca have stayed true to their ideals no matter how unsatisfying and personally ridiculous it is.
But both those characters need some kind of coda before this arc ends.
Rebecca in particular if Oda is trying to set the character up for anything down the line,:such as the rulership of Dressrosa.Only tore at my hair during Kyros' scene: "Here let me heal you."
"Oh, no no, I'll just sit here nearly bleeding out because having one of the elite fighters around here in top form,:just in case we need some kind of plan b WOULD BE TOO FUCKING SENSIBLE."
Dressrosans, bah. What the hell is up with Manshelly's cheeks,:anyway? They've been crayoned on?
Intrigued for next chapter not because of Law but too see if Trebol is going to fight or will have a different purpose in the rest of the story.
And to see ifcBurgess has finally made a move. -

I'd go with super high standards, and a lot of picking out things that probably don't matter that much in the end. Not saying you don't have good points, but at times it seems you nitpick parts that really don't need to be nitpicked. I admit that from so many discussions, I might've lumped some things you've said with others, so there is a chance that I'm making a false accusation, so take this comment for what you will. Either way, I'm waiting for your long essay for disliking the chapter, cause whether I agree with you or not, you have good points.
-
There's a pretty big difference between buying into a cliffhanger, and your taste in manga as a whole.
Even at that, Bleach's figures have been bombing for years now.
You're making it out to be an absolutely awful cliffhanger.
In reality, it's just an obvious bit of baiting for people like us who discuss this manga to this degree.
It's nowhere near enough to ruin what was a pretty good chapter.
I started reading Bleach not long after it stated but I just found it unreadable.
-
Should we make a wager if Bellamy is dead or not?
You know just like that one with Monet. -
stupid thought: Luffy needs to ask if Manshelly poops.Kyros's words had me thinking, what is the limit, if one exists, to Manshelly's power? Viola has a limit of her own, even though both have pretty broken devil fruits.
-
Always good to have further confirmation of how swordsman's haki works. Focusing it into the blades deliberately.
We can now start a pamphlet on 'The Wit And Wisdom Of Hawkeye Mihawk':
"A scar on the black is a swordsman's shame."
"A chip on his blades is a swordsman's shame."Can hardly wait for more.

Cant stand Bellamy and I hope he is finally out of the way. I know we need a sacrifice or something similar to really push Luffy over the edge but Law can provide that, I just don't see the need for Bellamy at all in this arc. The only thing he has done that is useful was show Luffy the way out of the Arena.
-

Actually I am too old and I read One Piece for too many years to expect that Law wont get healed. Darth lacks experience of reading OP for a long time - weekly I mean - so his complaining will sooner than later end as he will learn to appreciate One Piece for what it is and not complain every week on how its not what he would like it to be.
In this arc we have Dwarf with power to heal probably every kind of damage(even to objects) and other one with power to stitch anything.
For younger audience Doflamingo words on Laws dead body is thrilling ending, older person wonders on who is in castle that made Koala call for Sabo.. -

You know Darth, sometimes we have to appreciate the small things that life offers to us, cause if every time we only wait for big things we can't have enjoyment for a extended period of time.

That is fascinating. For how many years, exactly, does one need to read One Piece weekly to not get annoyingly patronized for making a critisism?
Or, perhaps, reading One Piece for years means that you operate under bias and escalation of commitment, which makes you unreliable when it comes to actually discerning quality?
-
Law's dead? Someone call an an emergency vehicle right now, GEAR FORTH!!
-
I dedicate Luffy giving Bellamy a knucklesandwich with a side of coleslaw to my avatar. Awesome reference to the Jaya chapters and I wonder if he imprinted his knuckles on Bellamys other side of the head, making him look deformed as fuck.
-

True. Therefore, I have appreciated Neuro, which I find really enjoyable, if only because of it's abstract absurdity at times.
And I have not appreciated this chapter of One Piece, because I haven't enjoyed it.
-
Meh, fuck the chapter threads from now on. Complaints are getting sillier, way too much nitpicking and the atmosphere in this part of the forum has gone from bad to worse (also noticed that some not-so-good Narutofan members have found their way into this forum). Don't need more stress, I get enough of that from work already.

Can't wait for that One Piece movie fifty years down the line, Resurrection of D where Doflamingo turns into his golden form and Law is alive because of the dragonballs.

One has to man up, thats what for time is needed for.
You have no idea what you are talking about in second line, I leave it at that. -
I don't understand why Viola doesn't say anything about Law, or that they could use some help over there.
-
I'm guessing Bellamy's line here is the same.
[hide][/hide]Overall pretty nice callback and contrast to their fight at Jaya.
-
I don't understand why Viola doesn't say anything about Law, or that they could use some help over there.
Because if Oda actually kills a character it would be pretty shit for Viola of all people to spoil it.
-

Ah, so the who don't agree with you are now considered whiny bitches, am I to take it this way.
Yes, it truly is a marvelous argument. If you don't like what I like, it is simply because you are not mature enough to comprehend that what I like is actually great.
You know, stop talking. If all you have to say are thinly veiled insults, than truly, you are not adding anything of worth to the discussion.
-

She's more of a Cavendish fangirl and is hoping Law gets whomped to free up the tumblr space.
-
I understand Luffy putting Bellamy down was to piss him off, but after introducing Bellamy as such a bastard who spit in the face of dreams I think Oda just really disrespected the original knockout punch that Luffy did. It made Luffy seem much more resolute, especially since I just rewatched Jaya. But I guess if anything will make Luffy give another hoot about Doflamingo it would be putting down one of his subordinates with the potential to change, but is too weak to do so.
-
does luffy uses redhawk to punch the face of bellamy?

It's just a lot of sour fans when chapters don't meet their expectations. Most fans who have stuck with Dressrosa until now are agitated, it's no surprise.

Compared to fishman island and punk hazard, dressroba has been awesome.

Why are you getting stressed by a forum? Lol
By this particular part of the forum, not the whole of it. And why not?
See, One Piece is among a few of my weekly dose of stress relievers. So having to stumble upon a chapter thread with many of the posts being whiny/bitchy can be very annoying. I'll stick to reading spoilers and the chapters from now on. No more chapter threads for me, for now.

Why are you getting stressed by a forum? Lol
When there's this aura of negativity lurking in the air every single week, well, yeah, it can get to you if you are someone that's actually really enjoying the manga. It's like they're telling you you're in the wrong. It's not the case (even though some fellas in here like to call anyone not critisizing Oda a "blind fanboy", and that's legitimately annoying), but someone might feel like the overall reading experience gets marred down when going into his favorite One Piece site to see everyone's reaction and there's this halo of negativity all around.
It happens, and people react to it. It happens in here, it happens in the Toriko thread, it happened in the Naruto thread in the past, hell, it happens even in the Bleach thread!
But that isn't saying much, now, is it.
You talk like Aizen, man.
Can you add some more "my my" and "hmm, shall we, then? please, allow me to proceed with this chapter's thrashing. . ." and a bit of "since when were you under the impression that Punk Hazard is a good arc?".
And some of us enjoyed Punk Hazard. A selected few, true, but I still demand some respect for the arc that saw Caesar's birth and the Brownbus canonification as the best form of public transport ever created.
Oh, and Mangastream's here. Not a whole lot better, but it's in the right order and scans are slightly better.
-
I laughed hard when I read comments from Don about Zoro, how he's so humble that he didn't fight in colloseum. Wasn't there a panel when Zoro said something like "Bastard Luffy! He taken part in tournament! I wanted to do it too!"? I can't seem to find it :D

I don't mind people liking things. All and all, in the end, art is subjective, and it's quality even more so.
Now, people that tell I'm immature, I don't understand, that I'm evidently to stupid to comprehend the glory of something they enjoy… now, there we begin to have a problem.
Call me bitter. I don't care at this point. The fact that the manga that has been deeply enjoyable to me in the past years stopped being so is by far more frustrating.

"I will forbid you from drinking alcohol until you learn to control your haki while I drink this cup of wine in front you."
Best motivation ever. Probalby learned it in a week or so ;)

Come on, the "Is LAW DEAD" cliffhanger has already been used before. He better be dead now or this means Oda is getting weak at this.
