I'm actually really glad that Rebecca didn't fight. I'm not a fan of her, so watching her try to fight would've been boring, unless she pulls some unexpected badass move. And I like how there's a panel of Usopp screaming instead of fighting xD Seeing how it's just Luffy and Law (and Rebecca left), and that Trebol still hasn't appeared ever since he defeated Usopp (has he?), I'm guessing one of them will be battling him.
Chapter 757: The Trump Card

Your problem is reading mangajoy in the first place.
Does that clarify everything?I actually was interested in what exactly Fujitora is saying. I mean, his last line. The one with dice in Mangapanda translation. Is there more to it, or is it rather accurate translantion, if you don't mind me asking?
-
Kuma paw print… where?
Hmm, loved the scene with Robin. Got a ? for the guys than read the raw on what Robin says here
[hide]http://i997.mangapanda.com/one-piece/757/one-piece-5131797.jpg [/hide]
Is this an accurate translation? Does Robin really talk to Barto and say "its worth trusting our captain with our lives" … is it the translation or is it just me thinking does it seem she's including Barto as part of the crew?Do you have raw? Anyway even in english I think it can be just intepreted as "our" = "captain of our crew", so she's thinking about all shs not Robin + Bart. Right? She could, but probably doesn't :(

Zoro can solo Issho they said
seriously, after that monster sideways gravity I'm giving a total amount of 0 chances to actual Zoro, future Zoro?? maybe but actual one totally nope.
-
Funny thing is that the entire thing completly contradicts her motivation for fighting in the tournament to begin with.
She was planning on killing Doflamingo, for crying out loud.
She also never showed that she was especially terrified of fighting up until now.
I don't feel that part is in character for her at all, actually.
But you know…
I don't care.
http://i996.mangapanda.com/one-piece/757/one-piece-5131793.jpg
http://i999.mangapanda.com/one-piece/757/one-piece-5131795.jpgI always portrayed her as a try-harder low-achiever with immense emotional stress, hence her crying or squirting like a little girl, with anxiety accompanying only to be overcomed at times by her compassion towards leg-soldier and her revenge plans. But she didn't had any real resolve when it comes to that. It was clear from the get go she wasn't even able to think clearly since she based her plan on eating the Mera-Mera.
And the reality comes punching through your door you just understand it's different… You give up, it's too much. I'm not saying she's worthless but at times one's burden becomes too heavy to bear and you crack. That was what happened. With how Oda portrayed Diamante bigger than usual against her she just froze, gave up, lost. Of course she still can fight and It's very probably he might help Kyors defeating Diamante. It happens... It wasn't a case of Usopp in my eyes.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---

What are you doing? Don't mention him!!!

Your problem is reading mangajoy in the first place.
Does that clarify everything?Yeah, along with Rhythmic Gymnastics, Synchronized Swimming is officially a female-only sports for Olympics.
There are such thing as male RG and SS, but they're not recognized as official international sports by the committee.Yes That helps

@Myu:
She was trying her best with all the emotional stress
Because she's a woman. Like "emotional stress" has ever been a legitimate excuse that's stopped Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, etc. from backing down against an opponent.
I'm sure Kyros is under a lot of 'emotional stress' right now! what with his leg missing, having been a toy solider for 10 years, the island in chaos and everyone he ever loved literally forgetting his existence until this very afternoon and now he's confronting the man who murdered his wife (who died bleeding out in his cold tin arms) before his very eyes, but you don't see him having a nervous breakdown.
'emotional stress' is a double-standard excuse, like how women's ides of equality could be blamed on their 'emotional female hysteria' back in the 1800's.
I mean, c'mon:

Before the power debates shall begin
I will always love you.
I will always love you. You, you, my Luffy-senpai you (mm).
Bittersweet Memories.
That is all I'm taking with me.
So goodbye please don't cry.
We both know I'm not what you.
You need.:cwy:

her job will be getting rescued every arc.
Her secret attack with be "cry for help". She summons random character, critical success: she summons one of Monster Trio.
I was a bit annoyed with Becca, but now that it's oficially established she's useless let's just have some fun on her expense :>

Heh.
You know, I think I can chalk up the entire performance of Fuji up until now to him not trying or being serious. At all.
Thank God, he can do stuff when he wants to.

"Will I get one or eight? I'm willing to bet my head on the table.
But if we lose the dice, it's all for naught before we even spin the cup. "These are Chohan references. Old samurai era gambling. (the one Zatoichi, whom Fujitora is based off, always plays)
1 or 8 doesn't literally mean numbers, it comes from 1 meaning cho (odds), and 8 meaning han (even). The cup is called the pot.I seriously doubt these scanlators are familiar with feudal era Japanese dice gambling though.

The thing is not everyone are like them. We're talking about usual people with average resolve. Those people are not prone to anxiety because they have overcome it through real struggle and acknowledging it. Rebecca is a frag in the pond who doesn't know anything about Ocean, as Zoro would say. It's not just about women of course. For example I'm using methylphenidate and prone to panic attacks right now. And usually I'm calm as rock for fuck's sake. But when it comes and it comes even though I feel calm! Rebecca is just the way she is. And the things is Rebecca was never the opposite. Always this little girl who went through multiple traumas but tried and did her best.
-

Oh you and your prejudices, blue one.:ninja:

Oh, nice. Many thanks for this one, it's the little things like that I always enjoy.

I seem to remember trying to tell you this before…
And I recall telling you that I will either be right, or happy.
You were right, I'm happy, everyone wins.
Also, before there were no proof of that in the manga. Only indications. Now I have what I wanted.

So it's still safe to say the one who lose won't be able to do anything after that said loss. Meaning he says he is going for it at full ready to lose his life?
-
http://www.mangapanda.com/one-piece/757/12
The amazing, undefeated gladiator folks. What an awful waste of build up after that amazing double page spread last chapter, Diamante killing her mother, etc..
Rebecca is the worst character in Dressrosa.
Yup, she's like a Vivi except less cool. On the other side, I'm glad we didn't have to suffer through a nonesense fight with her and Diamante where she just get pumelled around a little bit. Kyros is gonna show us how to handle biss now.
-
I'm just glad that Robin is fighting, and actually doing a good job. But I really hope that Barto is not out cold though, he still needs to fight somebody!
And Fujitora finally started taking Sabo seriously. The fiery bastard doesn't realize what he's got himself into! -
-
And what does we have learned… never trust in princesses. no matter if they can fight or not. LOL
-
@Myu:
So it's still safe to say the one who lose won't be able to do anything after that said loss. Meaning he says he is going for it at full ready to lose his life?
Nah, sounds more like, he's willing to gamble his life, but first we have to make sure we don't lose the dice (or cards if you will) first.
Otherwise there's no gamble to be made.Meaning, something is a piece to a chess here, and it's at the stake. Whether it be Doflamingo, Straw Hat, or something else, we don't know. Fujitora doesn't want to lose that "piece". Or else, there's no game to begin with.
-
I mean, up till the Rebecca part, I was willing to consider this one of the best chapters of the past months. And even when I'm one of those not dellusional enough to think Rebecca could stand against Diamante, holy shit, that was beyond Shirahoshi levels of being a crybaby. Hell, Shirahoshi had the GUTS to face the entire Noah ship all by herself in order to save Fishman Island. Rebecca, here, as even fucking facing her mother's killer, suddenly changed her preferences to "but I don't like to fight! I don't wanna! Please leave me alone!". . .THE FUCK WAS THAT? She doesn't like to fight but amidst this HUGE crisis that's stirring up your fucking country, can't you do one last effort? JUST THE LAST ONE? Did she really need to start hiding and running away pitifully?
This part deserves a re-post.
Excellently spoken, I couldn't agree more.
-
And I recall telling you that I will either be right, or happy.
You were right, I'm happy, everyone wins.

Meh, I thought with all the examples I gave you that it was pretty clear that Fuji had been taking it easy.
Anyway, you're happy for once, I'm glad!
Fuji won't be defeating Sabo in this arc for obvious reasons, but it's being made clear who's the stronger of the two.
-
Just in case my fans didn't have enough of Nami crying at Arlong Park, here's a clone of her doing it all over the arc.
The Nami scene in arlongpark was written a 1000 times better than Rebecca scene.
I can understand Rebecca running away but it seem like she even forgotten how to run. Wasn't she renowned for her speed and ability to dodge? She was able to outrun rolling logan and dodge the deadly blow that wipe out block d.
–-------
So, are Franky and Senor Pink going to compete in rythematic gymnastics next? -

Fuji probably ordered them to move on since he has things under control there.

So, are Franky and Senor Pink going to compete in rythematic gymnastics next?Completely yes. It was more understandable why Nami couldn't stand against Arlong and her entire world imploding on her. It really gave you a powerful impression. Rebecca has just been a torn in the side from the beginning of the arc. I don't understand this Shounen fascination to give off the impression that they have strong female characters, only to then have them manhandled and then foderized so the blonde prince can come and save the day. It's just stupid.

Hooouullyy paper sheet!! this man cut off my meteorite in two pieces and one is heading straight to me!! no problem for a blind man!!
Ooooohh my gooossh!!! this man came out of the hole I sended him and is trying to totally kill me, better put my sword on vertical, that should be enough, yup, this green-haired man ain't hurt me a bit.
Chesses Crisp!!, this flame-flame man aint getting hurt with my sideways gravity and is coming to burn the poop out of me, better put my sowrd on vertical, that always saves my life, YUP, totally worked out!!
Issho's awsomeness is beyond infinite

I definately agree with you on this, which is why I don't like Rebecca in this chapter. -_-
And I had hopes for that character, too.

Fuji probably ordered them to move on since he has things under control there.
I think it's fair to say that.
Hell, Sabo's line made me chuckle. Imagine that.
It's like bucket of cold water sprayed on the raging hell of hatred.
-
I really don't get what people were expecting from rebecca…she already faced against diamante, and so she already knew she had no chance, especially since it was not a match in a ring but a fight to the death...
also, she had a job,and it was delivering the key,not getting slaughtered, going against diamante would have been really stupid on her part
She probably did much more than anybody in her shoes would have done till now...also,it doesn't really contradict his previous statement of wanting to fight to help soldier san, since now soldier san is fucking kyros and doesn't need protection from anybody -

I can't imagine Sabo will ever have a tougher crowd that you, Darth.
Well done to that top hatted bastard, well done indeed.
-
Fight between Franky and Senor kinda reminds me of a fight with Sanji and Bon Clay in Alabasta. But I don't think that Senor would be so friendly towards Luffy later.
And I REALLY hope that Oda is not making Law a Vegeta of One Piece. But he can beat Doflamingo, I approve that.
-

Robin and baby 5 are having fights in this chapter. Just saying. Rebecca is just useless. She make shirahoshi a better character. Despite all hercrying, she managed to stop Noah from crashing into fishman island.
But there is still people who want her to join the crew. -
Maybe I'm just in denial, but I could imagine Kyros getting beat up being the trigger for Rebecca to finally fight back.
Her whole character is based around this not wanting to fight/not wanting to have to be protected anymore conflict. Diamante was even teasing her about why she still wouldn't fight back… in other words, Oda pointed out to us that she still hasn't reached the point where she will stand up for herself. But now that she's been reunited with her father, maybe she will realise that sometimes you need to fight to protect what's important to you. It is a more compelling incentive than self-defence, which is what has been forcing her to fight so far.
Of course this chapter really could be Rebecca's character going down the toilet, but until the fight is over I'm going to try not to judge/rage too much about it.
-
And I REALLY hope that Oda is not making Law a Vegeta of One Piece. But he can beat Doflamingo, I approve that.
Law's gonna bang Nami, they'll have a child called underwear :ninja:
-
Do u guys think that's kuma's paw print on the cover page?
Yo! At first I thought it was just the emblem of the sea-cat family. But you're right, it really looks like Kuma's paw.
Hum..But I think it's only a coincidence. Unless post TS Kuma is waterproof, he can't make this village disappear. And the house wouldn't be still there if he touched it. Unless the house arrived here after he touched it…
@Kishido:I have to repeat it… No matter if Bartolomeo will be left behind or he will join. HE IS PERFECT... Simply perfect with everything.
Even Luffy is now amazed by him and Rovin is speaking about OUR captain.
Yohohoho! Barto's sacrifice was really inappropriate though. The barrier only works if he is conscious, right ?
-

-
You guys are hyping her "undefeated" gladiator thing like it was something, all the gladiators sucked, the foreign ones that came for the prize were the strong ones, Rebecca won her block by luck.
-
Dat Senor Pink Franky one panel tho! Soo manly!
-
Law's gonna bang Nami, they'll have a child called underwear :ninja:
It took me a while to get it. Then I lol'd hard.

Barriers of Love will never disappear
-
Robin was hands down, the best part of this chapter for me. It's been so long since we saw her act like the bad ass we all know she can be, and it's finally here and it feels so good.
-
Rebecca had enough intuition and speed to dodge Hakuba's incredibly fast split-second attack, which even Bartolomeo couldn't see, so why couldn't she dodge Diamante's simple sword slash?
Scenes like this are when Oda's writing is at it's lowest.
-
Running away!?
Just, anything but that. I wouldn't mind if she was fodderized in one blow, just, running away is a new level of disappointment. After all that build up, that epic double-spread, and the reasons for the conflict…Rebecca suddenly gets cold feet? And the whole world of men debate is still relatively recent, too...
What a kick in the ba-, err, the, uh, the face, Oda. -
I wonder though. How did Gladius know Barto's name? Did he watch the tournament or something?
