i haven't watched this season but I'm reading a lot of bad reviews about it, do you guys think i should taint the good times i had with the first season for this one?
Psycho-Pass

Yes, the writing features less horrible pretentious misquotes from makashiam but is otherwise a few notches down in quality in every other aspect. the same can eb said about the production. Less consistent animation, more pacing issues, one dimensional characters and incoherent development for them, plot points in S1 left hanging, etc. It's overall a disappointment.
-
well, let me know when they decide to take down the digital nazi system, because thats the only thing that will let me power through it.
-
Well seeing as there is a movie coming out after this I doubt they'll be doing that this season. Personally I'm still quite enjoying this season I think people are making it out to be a lot worse than it really is. Though it has been a long time since I saw the first season so I'm not really comparing it to that very much.
-
Gotta be honest, really didn't foresee anything that happened in this latest episode. It was a touch of brilliance and really galvanised this second season. Colour me a huge huge fan now.
-
That. Episode.
It was a work of art. Very, very, very fucked up art.
-
If Akane keeps on getting screwed like this, it would explain why she seems to be all Rambo like in the movie.
-
This is everyone who still think that Psycho Pass 2 is any good.
-
I prefer the cast of the first season.
But I find Psycho Pass 2 way more thrilling. -

It's good in the fact that it's an amusing trainwreck.
I think if they had the episode count of S1 they could've worked some even greater magic, but this was ridiculous. Trying to cram so much into 11 episodes is stupid. Way to fuck up such a good series. The movie has a really good chance of redeeming the trainwreck, though.

Spot on, they're trying to rush it. That's odd because the first half started slowly. But yeah, we're likely to see an old face return soon.

You know what I don't get, in season one, they said decisions were made as a group. What does everyone other than Togane gain from the current course of action? In fact, Akane's old adversary from season one should be very much against the current course of action.
-
Yeah, I would think someone would jump in and take over her body by this point. Or at least talk to Akane when she was asking all those questions about the Sybil paradox.
-
I can only wonder: Would S2 be good if it had 22 episodes instead of 11? There is potential, after all. it's just completely destroyed by uneven pacing and an incompetent scriptwriter that doesn't know how to capitalize on it.
-
I didn't think they'd make another psychopath antagonist for this season tbh, i thought it would be too lazy and he would never be as good as Makishima.
i imagined a revolutionary leader with a just cause who was tragically hurt the by sibyl in past and wants to destroy it, he would have a following with him and we get to see some drama between them with, their backstory getting explained one by one.
i'll stop here because i don't want this to turn into a fanfic. i had high expectations for this season but they just to fuck it up with a shitty writer. >:| -
Any more news on the film?
-
Another charismatic antagonist who dies while that disgusting system gets to carry on its cruel actions. And here I thought at first that Kirito had actually managed to accomplish something by Sibyl judging part of itself. Fuck it. It's crazy how Akane is still not going mad witnessing all that tragedy and sorrow. I don't know whether to be impressed or appalled.
What's with the underground group shown in season 1 during that flashback? Saw nothing of them in all of these 11 episodes.

Subs for the movie are finally out!
I really enjoyed the movie. It's way better than season 2 and it essentially ignores everything that happens in season 2, which is good. We get a better picture of what the world is like outside of the Cybil system and that in turn makes it clearer as to how something like the Cybil system came to be put in place in the first place. The action was good and I really loved the soundtrack. I'd recommend people give it a watch even if you didn't like Season 2
Also Akane continues to be the best.
-
Damn, how is it not out on AJ yet? I'm excited to see what happens. Not sure how I feel about it ignoring season two though.
-
Why was I dissatisfied with the relationship between Akane and Kogami?
Except for that, it was a good one, Akane being Akane XD And definitely better than season 2 :3 -
Don´t expect a conclusion to the franchise with this movie, apparently season 3 is on its way

Based on what information? I've took a quick glance at the usual news sites just now but can't seem to see anything confirming your info (if it's something that happened in the movie though please don't mention it as I have yet to watch that one).
If true, I do wonder who's going to take over the writing part this time…

It´s just a tweet by the series producer Akitoshi Mori, nothing definite yet but i guess the producer knows stuff
-
If they have the sense to make a decent, proper season this time, we're probably going to be waiting awhile before we hear any news. I'm pretty sure if the producer is hyped about S3, it's most likely going to happen. I think they're making the sales they really needed. I'm still kinda mad they treated S2 like a throwaway thing, just to have something to build up to the movie. I'd rather the movie have taken a bit longer to come out (but I think they were counting on the movie racking up the dough before they would do more with the series, so at least we can be thankful for that).
In the interim, novels and manga series are being churned out like crazy (I wish some company could see the potential of the novels and license them for English translation, because they are soooo gooood I need to read them badly). Some of the novels have to do with world-building stuff, which is why I'm especially curious.
I did like the movie (I ordered the limited edition BD with amazon japan goodies), it was very interesting and well-fleshed out. I like the discussions that have been popping up on if it was really an end for Kogami, or foreshadowing that something more ominous with him and Akane was around the corner. The wait for S3 is going to suck (I am in way too deep with this series).
