Hopefully this new series retcons digimon 2 ending. -
I was just listening to Digimon Adventures' soundtrack the other day. I'm interested on this.
-
I just hope it will have the quality of earlier seasons again, instead of the kiddy garbage that were the last couple ones.
-
I'm screaming
Please have 02 cast stories as well
-
So, will this be set between S1 and S2? In any case, exciting news!
-

Digimon is a children's show. Now, a better one would be nice? I think I saw everything up to beginning parts of Savers back then when they ran? Tamers and original are the best to me.
Reboots all the craze right now, guess gonna check it out?

Nope, it's after two since Tai will have 17 in this new one.

I know, but the recent ones went full on kiddy, just like recent yu gi oh series for example. And I agree with tamers and season 1 being the best.^^
Oh man, hearing that song again. The nostalgia feels are strong. :)
-
And I still want to play that remake of the first game for PS1…
-
Are the first seasons any good? I never saw Digimon so would a 22 year-old like me like it?
-
The recent ones being Xoss Wars, as savers while not as good as Tamers, didn't devolved into a battle between the devil and everythingandeveryoneexageratedmon.
-
please be good, please be good, please be good

I think they definitely are interesting for older anime viewers, since they are incorporating some mature themes.
-
Adventures, maybe, 2 not much, Tamers all the way, Frontier.. eh, Savers only if you liked one of the before ones, Xoss nope.

I feel the same about them. The first movie was pretty cool too.
Also, Tamers' brazilian opening was the best, I don't remember anything about that season anymore (only that it was good), but I still remember how to sing the opening.

1-2 are my absolute favorite
There's something kind of surreal and off kilter about the digital world in these seasons and I like it

Tamers is the one that I recommend to anyone. Has some interesting and quite mature themes in there, the writer was inspired by Eva and wrote Serial Experiments Lain. Also, the most horrifying villain. The Adventures are a lot simpler, but the first one also has some of that substance, though not nearly as complex. The others… eh dunno.

Love that opening too.

Tamers had Impmon, therefore I approve. My favourite is still the first season, though, but here I'm biased because it's the first I saw as a kid.
-
This sounds like a bad idea, guys. Let the anime rest in peace and don't ruin it with…modern anime elements. '-'
-
Well, we'll have to wait and see.
-
Lots of people say they liked Tamers but I didn't really like it tbh
It didnt have as much charm as the original ones did and I thought the bad guys were kind of dull (impmon not included)
I liked that Ryo was in it though, which kind of bridged 02 and Tamers together a little. I always thought he'd be good as a main character

Yeah, that's the problem with me. Three years ago, I watched, for the first time, both first and second movies (it was a special on a brazilian cable channel) and I loved the first movie but not so much the second one, which reflects exactly what I feel about the first and second season, respectively, and I will never be certain if my childhood memories did, or not, affect my opinion on that.
-
I'm ¿ashamed? to say I haven't watched any of the movies yet, nor the complete 2nd season :I
-
I didn't finish watching it, but I really liked Xros Wars. Though I was sad the main character's two friends left midway through. Never saw season 7.
By the way, did someone else animate Savers? It looked different than Digimon normally did.
-
I've seen the dubbed Revenge of Diaboromon movie, which I was really surprised to find since the first digimon dubbed movie was this horrible Frankenstein made up from bits of like the first 3 films
I guess it was done to air on the Disney channel or something
-
I only hope they will try to make this one a bit differently (if it is targeted to the fans of Adventures, they need to realize their public this time aren't kids).

Well, perhaps the fact that Tai is 17 years old must be because they want to approach old fans and try to appeal possible new ones, that aren't kids but teenagers.
-
I had marathoned the first five seasons of Digimon a few years ago and I can say that Tamers was far above the rest. I even watched it a second time after finishing the 5th season. The use of the cards became irrelevant at the right time and once the season hits its climax, it really acclerated to the end. Tamers was a great ride, albeit dark at parts for a kids show
Digimon Frontier is a very solid 2nd for me. It starts off sort of slow, but every season of Digimon had that issue. I thought it was a nice change of pace for the series to be solely focused on the kids rather than the Digimon and shit really hit the fan in this season. As far as difficulty level, I'd say the Frontier kids had it the worst
Adventures and Savers are even to me. I know that it's probably sacrilege to think that but I enjoyed both of them equally. Also the smaller and older cast of Savers was another nice change of pace.
Adventures 2 was a cheap knock off and really boring. Didn't really do anything right save for T.K. punching Ken
-
The thought the digimon partners of the other protagonists may reach their final stages as Agumon and Gabumon achieve a new stronger form is really appealing.
-
If they give me Herakles Kabuterimon, I am willing to endure whatever.
-
Hmm. I actually liked season 3 and 4.
3 cause killing Leomon in front of Jeri was messed up. And I liked Beelzemon.
4 cause I liked that it wasn't pet based.
-
I remember watching it in french when I was a kid. I really enjoyed it back then. I stopped during the 3rd season.
The first movie is one of my favorite anime souvenirs. But I don't feel like catching up anymore. Should I give it a try ? Or did I already watch the best seasons ? -
Guess that gives me the perfect excuse to marathon the first 4 seasons. Especially cause it has been years since the last time I saw them. And it will be the first time that I watch them in japanese.^^ If all of the episodes are actually available online in japanese.
-
My favorite season was Tamers. I liked Adventures and Frontiers too. 02 and Savers were mediocre. I don't want to talk about Xros Wars/Fusion and its sequel. Never again.
I'm happy as long as a member of the Devimon family appears in this new series.
-
I liked frontier because it was kind of badass that one of the kids was really fucked up the whole time and nobody knew it
-
So much love for Tamers. I really liked how to mind link thing in the series worked. Same that the digimon were more "monster-like". Jeri and Impmon were the best characters. It's just really interesting.
-
From Savers the show became darker, with Kurata as the most villanous example of evil human, who went far as to develop a tool to kill digimon permanently. Then came Xros Wars, which introduced a new evolutionary system. Personally I liked both seasons, only 02 comes as the one I dislike most for obvious reasons.
-
Okay I don't remember every single detail anymore about season 2, why do so many here dislike it?
-
Okay I don't remember every single detail anymore about season 2, why do so many here dislike it?
Because of two details.
1. Demon's plot forgotten forever.
2. BelialVandemon falling because of the power of friendship… literally.
It was doing well till that part, but then that happened and left the viewers a bitter taste.
-
I've noticed something about the Digimon seasons: They really like to kill of Leomon. In Adventures Leomon sacrificed himself during the fight against Metaletemon. In Tamers Beelzemon killed him. In Savers Kuratas Gizmon killed Saberleomon. And in Xros Wars MadLeomon was killed by Shoutmon X3 but was revived later on as a normal Leomon. They don't seem to like him.
-
More like Leomon is a http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/SacrificialLion/AnimeAndManga

Oh childhood. Loved the first season. The whole thing with the virtues had something really nice to it. Season 2 was ok. I liked how they tried to have characters learn from each other virtues but wasn't too fond of the implementation. I know I was a weirdo kid.
-
I may be in the minority here, but I really liked Frontier the best despite the premise on transforming into Digimon. I hated Tamers because it mostly felt really mellow and dark. And the final enemy boiling down to big red blobs swelling all over a city was bleh. The character designs were really cool tho. I just wanted more Digital World, and Frontier gave me that and much more.
Season 1 and 2 I don't have much memories with. The only thing I can recall is the constant repeating of stock animation for attacks, and something with BlackwarGreymon running around for numerous episodes.

Okay. And I totally realise that I have no recollection of those story elements. Definitely need to rewatch soon.^^
And I also really like frontier, because it had a fresh take with them turning into digimon, cool battles, story elements and digievolutions looked awesome, especially the ones at the end.

About why 2 failed, other than the ending, was the one upping of the villians,
! First ken, then Arukenimon was behind him, then she replaces him with Black Wargreymon, then Oikawa replaces her, then Myotismon was behind EVERYTHING, except Daemon that looket miles more interesting than him.
I enjoyed much of Frontier, them exploring the digiworld, part of was rescued into the 2th arc of Xoss wars with the whole countries stuff but never developed,
! but once the royal knights showed up and was about 10 chapters of "oh well, they destroyed ANOTHER fragment of the world but at least we saved theBabies/IrrelevantHumans/SomeTrainTerminal/Whatevs".
! Maybe if the royal knights were more interesting, or were more of them and scrapped throught some of the areas to win..Damon in Savers was just hilarious, Once I acepted that "Having a Plan" is worthtless against being A MAN.
-
Other than T.K. punching Ken, Season 2 did give us
!
! The most obnoxiously adorable Digimon of all time -
Hitting me with Butterfly isn't cool, Toei. I didn't ask to get goosebumps.
-
Only ever saw Adventure and 02 all the way through (only saw bits and pieces of Tamers and Frontier, and have had no interest in anything after that).
Adventure is really just a delightful show with interesting characters, cool monsters, and some real emotional moments. 02 was pretty good during Digimon Emperor arc, but then steadily lost steam and had a completely barf ending (though I did think the Myotismon twist was pretty cool). And of course there was that Dragomon subplot that went nowhere.
Real interested in this new project though. Hope it turns out well.
-
I heard a really great explanation for the Dagomon thing but I dont remember it off hand. It was pretty fucked up when you realize the creatures arent actual digimon and wanted to "make kari their bride", so it's like they accidentally jumped into some different reality (a sort of hp lovecraft world i guess) parallel to the digital one and the real world. considering that Ryo was in 02 and Tamers, I assumed that Tamers existed in the same group of parallel worlds as Adventure
