THIS IS NOT A RANT! I actually want help with this problem.

I know I might come off as a whiney little brat…but still…I totally HATE (with a passion) the whole codec thing. I’ve been a One Piece fan for over two years now. When I heard about Kaizoku-Fansubs I was all like wow I can get the anime in the US. Then came the problem; the whole torrent files, and codec, and what not. I downloaded codec and read the manual that came with it. As you all can figure out, I’m a pretty slow (and that’s putting it nicely) It was like reading the gibberish backwards and upside down. I had NO clue what it was saying. So I thought it might be the software. So I downloaded a different one; same problem. I asked the computer literate fellow fans over at K-F about it. It was even worse. I even felt like crawling under my bed and crying (Yes I feel THAT stupid!). I wound up purchasing a crappy Hong-Kong fansub DVD off the internet for $80.

Now that I’m going to college I don’t have that kind of money to blow off. So if anyone in the virtual universe, one One Piece fan to another, can help me and explain (in stupid talk so I can understand) how the whole codec thing works it would greatly be appreciated. Also if you too are suffering as much as I am or if you don’t really care and just want to yell at me and call me a moron, that okay too.

First I downloaded DivX then all of a I could open up the configuration. Then I went K-F and I downloaded one of the one's they sugested VP6. Also I downloaded Xvid. I read the help guides and the manuals (I'm total idiot) but they made no sense. (I think with those things they come with the asuming that you already know what some of the jargon. I know I sound like a total retard right now..

If you use VLC player you don't need codecs.

            One Piece is boring.

Only because it's boring to say every week, "This is awesome. Oda is a Genius.".

You seem to have a lot of Codecs messed up.

Firstly try installing ffdshow (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ffdshow/ffdshow-20041012.exe?download) or trying out Gspot (http://www.headbands.com/gspot/) to find the codecs needed and the possible conflicts.

Next you can try Media Player Classic (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=82303&package_id=84358) which has an internal decoder. You just have to configure it to use the internal decoder.

You can configure it here (View -> Options): (You can try ticking all the boxes)

              Hope this helps.

I must be one of the lucky ones, because I've never had any codec problems whatsoever. But yeh, get either VCL player, BSplayer, Zoom and/or Media Player classic. Also update your codec paks everynow & then.

Then you should have no problems playing alot of different video/audio file types (OGG, mvk, avi, mpg, wmv, asx, asf) anything & everything should play fine.
