This game is out, it's awesome, and it deserves its own thread. Which version did you buy, and what order did you tackle the stages in?

Final Stages? DDD: i'm just downloading it! How do you guys play so fast?
-
This game is on its way to become a modern day classic. Indie game of the year here!
-
A few Day 2 tips on some of the feats:
! -Use the second dragon miniboss in the intro stage to get a number of the "Kill 3 or 5 enemies with X special weapon." Just stay up top, let two waves of bubbles come to you, and let fly. Works for the anchor, chaos orb, propeller dagger, and horn, at least.
-"Kill something with the fireball from 25 squares away"- there's a room in Pridemoor keep where you come from the lower left. Two flying rats are coming at you and there's a mage up top. Kill the rats, then wait for the beetle to move all the way to the right. Clear shot with the fireball.
-First stage is perfect for: no death in a single stage (duh); no damage in a single stage (wait until you have the spark ability to make the boss a bigger joke than he already is. That also takes care of "Sparker"); On a diet (just don't even kill minibosses if you're worried about food drops); as well as… Shovel economy (swing shovel fewer than 20 times- downstabs DON'T count against you as far as I can tell, so just use the standard forward attack only where necessary, to break blocks in front of you).
-Fire mages in Pridemoor Keep are good for 30 reflected projectiles. Just get close enough so that your attack doesn't hit them, and time it just right to knock their fireballs back.
-Destroy all checkpoints in Pridemoor for the single stage achievement. Pretty hard to die in that level.
-Unfortunately, Black Knight doesn't count as an Order of No Quarter boss, so no-damage-against-a-boss should be against King Knight. He doesn't evade or block fireballs, so you can just rapid fire and get ready to downstab when he jumps near you. He should die before he even has a chance to launch any confetti. -
Is it really that good? I might buy it then.
-
^It's amazing! I mean, it's short but it has as much fun and re-playability as a Megaman game.
Also. The Soundtrack is out! Pay what you want ($0 counts if you are feeling cheap btw)

Know of anything I can do to reclaim the Impossible! and Perfect Platformer feats short of starting a new file/game+?

Those are meant to be the very last thing you accomplish, so you'll have to do new game+.

Does Plauge Knight have any obvious holes? He's a super aggressive boss, and I got a hard time figuring out if there's a pattern. I would not want to cheese him with anything that would be patched over.

I've heard that all the bosses don't have patterns only move sets that they use at random.
Are you already in ng+ or doing some self imposed challenge thing? Didn't seem like a boss that should pose too many problems on normal.
I just tried to dodge most stuff and trade hits mid air(so pretty much when he tries to detonate those things he spawns). I've bought all meal tickets I could before that level so maybe that helps.I'm on my first playthrough so I don't know anything about ng+ yet.
-
I already beat him. It was just incase I did a no damage run.

Oh ok wow that would be indeed pretty hard.

Holy shit, you guys are like in New Game++++ neohyperultrasecret and i'm still in like the 4th level :(
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
guys, how do i do
! The Shovel Dash on the 3ds?
Nevermind, i got it.
-
Finished it, well that did scratch an itch that I didn't know I had. Playing it gave me fresh nostalgia? Like despite playing it on steam with a controller it still reminded me of my gameboy years while being it's own thing. Was really fun. It's just it made me yearn for a really old school jrpg again. Last game that scratched that itch for me was probably Radiant Historia?(Maybe I'm just forgetting something)
-
My brother downloaded this yesterday, so I'm diving in as well. So far I've only beaten the Black Knight, but I'm already having a lot of fun with this game.
-
Just beat the Specter Knight. This is definitely a game I'd like to play over and over again, but I don't think I intend to get all feats. Just never been that much into achievements.
-
I backed for Wii U, I wanted it on the big screen and I'm more likely to complete it on a console then PC.
Not played it yet because europe
-
Dude, that final stretch before reaching the last check point/Propeller Knight was fucking annoying. I'm sure I can do it now without dying, since I was pretty tired while I was playing it, but I still lost a lot of treasure before reaching the final checkpoint. Thankfully I still came away with some loot and didn't really have anything left to buy in the village anymore. Also, after beating Propeller Knight, I used the item from his stage to do that treasure stage which requires it, so I'm still sitting on a respectable amount of money.
Despite being frustrated over that bit of the level, I'm still loving this game.
-
Just got this game. Fun so far, but I've only beaten specter night and king knight. King knight was kind of a joke, especially since I tackled him after specter knight
-
So far Specter Knight is definitely the one that's given me the most trouble for some reason. I imagine it's the fact I tackled him before all the health and magic upgrades.
-
Finally got the Impossible and Perfect Platforming feats. Now to just play the game normally and not even care for the rest of them.
-
Just got this for the Wii U. Only two stages in and I'm seriously….well, digging it.
-
Tinker Knight is adorable.
Also, the propeller knight stage can die in a fire.
-
The soundtrack is crunchy ear candy. God I love this one in particular:
-
"Strike the Earth!" is the best track of them all.
Also, I should get back to the game. The Tower of Fate is the only thing I have left to beat on my first play-through…

Speaking of which:
!
Can you dig it? -
My favorite track is "Fight with all your Might" =:3

[/hide]I had a feeling I was using a name from another game, but didn't feel like looking it up. :D
That reminds me, I still need to beat La-Mulana, too…
-
Oh, why did I have to buy this game!? IT'S SO FREAKING AWESOME!!! :D
It's restricting me from continuing Mario Kart 8 & DK: Tropical Freeze so much…
And Strike The Earth!! is incredible**(Worthy of being the official theme if this game becomes a series in the future…)**, but I LOVE this track…
Just has that epic Megaman feeling… :)
-
Even though I like the songs as I am playing, none of them stay with me in the same way the mega man songs get stuck in my head for days.
Finally beat the game just now, and it's really quite a phenomenal game. Very very well made, and extremely fun.
Also, I hate hate hate those green propeller dudes. SOO MUCH.
-
Beat the game and working my way through the feats now (8 more to go!)
Truly, it's a great game, but my god can it be nerve-wrackingly difficult at times. It might be a bit more manageable if those levels weren't so darn. Hell, I don't even know if I'll be able to get the Impossible! feat. I mean, if you accidentally do die, can you just restart or reset the game so it doesn't count?
EDIT: Nevermind, I looked it up and apparently you can. Yeah, if I can do that, then I think I can get that feat. It'll take a while, but I think I can get it.
-
Managed to get the Hurry Up feat. With about 9 minutes to spare. Thing gets seriously tight in the timing. Quitting to the main menu works wonders, but apparently the rivals on the map can take away like 6 seconds every time you reset and after my first save…. Those second really do matter! By the final 3 stages, I had 30 minutes to spare. Plenty of time to risk making atleast 15 mistakes. It's a bit much, but I'm not very good at the final boss all that much. Sometimes my speedkill strats work perfectly, and sometimes it makes me fall into a pit and die.
My first run I wanted to do No Relics and Hurry Up at the same time, and man. It really sucks speeding through certain parts without the Knuckles and Phase Locket. I gave up trying to kill two birds after I has about 16 minutes to finish the final 3 stages, haha!
I haven't got the collectable feats as yet, so I guess I'd do those next. I'm happy there isn't a whole ton of these, because the challenge feats are really fun to do and I much rather play the game than collect 100% of x thing.
New Game + would be my final Feat. I want to do it with the cheat that makes you start NG+ difficulty with a completly bare character and I'd do it without collectiong any health upgrades. Doing something crazy like that would be my parting gift to such an amazing game.
-
I wish there was a feat for never opening the item menu to change items. I'd feel less like an idiot that way.
-

I try to change them with the Wii U pad when I can, but there are some times where you're in the middle of the action and you really do need to pause it.
Of course, right now I'm trying to get the No Relics feat, as well as the Impossible!, Perfect Platformer, and Destroy All Checkpoints feat in one go. Believe it or not, I'm on the penultimate level.

Hopefully you'll be back when they give us the King Knight/Plague/Specter Knight gameplay. That's going to be so much fun (so hyped to play as goofy King Knight)
-
Isn't there a feat called "Didn't break down crying when he had to kill all the fuckin knights again?" Cause i'm pretty sure i aced it…i swear.

More looking forward to the gender swap mode, but yeah. I'm sure I'd be around.
-
Is there a site somewhere where you can see those future additions you guys speak of?
-
Those are the Kickstarter stetch goal content and they would be added later.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/yachtclubgames/shovel-knight
Gender Swap mode is very interesting because it not only swaps the main character, but the Entrantress and her order. And the main character would play differently too. Not sure if the bosses would have the same patterns, but I'd be exited to see the designs nonetheless. That and it isn't like alot of other games where all they do is put a bow on the default male and call it female.
-
SWEET! In spite of my expectations, I managed to get all 45 feats!
Seriously, this was just a damn good game and I can't wait to see the rest of those stretch goals implemented.
-
You're a madman, Nobodyman! Congrats!
-
You're a madman, Nobodyman! Congrats!
The thing is, I had to restart the game, like, three times while fighting the final boss to get the 90 minutes feat 'cause I kept falling into the pit, which almost never happened before that point. Just the stress of trying to finish in time, I suppose.
Also, for some reason, after I got the Impossible, Perfect Platformer, and True Shovelry feats (and they were shown in the feats list) the game somehow forgot that I had obtained them and I had to fight the final boss again to get them back.
-
Yeah, definitely the stress.
I should probably finish up the Tower of Fate, because having just bought A Link Between Worlds and Super Mario 3D Land (as well as Lost in Shadow), I'll probably end up neglecting this game until I finish the new ones…
-
The first DLC has been revealed (along with more upcoming DLC hinted). It's a new campaign featuring the Plague Knight as a playable character.

That's really old news to be honest

That's really old news to be honest
Yeah, after looking at the Kickstarter and such, I see that the DLC was already known to exist.
But.. at least they've they updated the Kickstarter page with progress (last updated December 17th).
-
I get Specter Knight has a scythe and King Knight is perfect without any flaws, but I just don't see what makes Plague Knight stand out enough to win a poll for playability.
-
Unique movement is what ive heeard

Here is some more information on the upcoming DLC.
