That is a good idea. Like, you can select Luffy and choose "Original", "New World" and "Final Saga". Or like Kaido, go Standard or Hybrid Form.
Maybe you can do the same thing with Germa, since Huey, Duey and Lewie had a lot of the same moves.

Roger and Rayleigh could be Shanks' skin variants for all I care. Here's to hoping at least they are fun to play. They surely will be as over the top as Oden and then some.
Low-key hyped for Uta's moveset, there's a lot of potential. Yamato makes the 3rd ice combatant in the game, right? I sure wish they make a better job with him than with his equals.
@puffing-cinema 4th. Kiku's sword attacks have ice effects.
oh yeah, you are right! I actually forgot Brook has ice attacks for a bit. lol.
Honestly I wasn't even expecting them to upgrade base-Luffy, just to make the new G5 transformation for him, so I guess those new effects and costume look nice.
I'm more interested in the new characters.
Disappointing for that to take up a whole character slot. I wish Gear 5 was just its own character instead of a transformation, but I guess they had to do it this way to get Red Roc in the game, since it seems like adding specials to existing characters isn't an option....
I think I'm gonna pick up the game, the next time it has a discount, either on Amazon or on the Nintendo Eshop.
Loved PW3, though I'm not sure how close PW5 is.
@The-Light-of-Shandora On a discount, I think its definitely worth playing. Despite some disappointments, its overall a solid game.
Considering the new DLC coming out, and lack of new content from the anime/manga to pull from, I would assume PW5 is 2 years away at the absolute soonest, if at all. (Exception if they choose to focus on older story arcs and movie characters as the draw for 5, but otherwise I don't see 5 happening until we are at least an arc past Egghead ending
Yeah, this DLC feels like its being added in order to cover the rest of Wano. Depending on what happens, they might be better off waiting until the series ends (unless Egghead or Elbaph have some huge battle royale with all the characters showing up).
I wish they would integrate the DLC into the game content more properly, like appearing in events or other characters having comments with them.
One Piece franchise sale on steam! I'll think about picking this up. I have 1 and 2 but I kind of dropped off seeing that there was always more and more around the corner...
Thanks for the heads up, bought it yesterday for the switch.
Gonna try and sneak in some hours today, it's been so long since I played PW3.
A new upgrade system? Nice, I wasn't expecting that.
I felt like the current system relied too much on berries, altough I kinda liked the island paths that allowed us to choose our own route. Let's see what changes they apllied and if they work.
I also liked that Yamato trailer very much.
I know he didn't fight much on his full animal form but I'm still hoping for some combo or special attack where we get to see it.
The DLC characters will still use regular coins for upgrades, that soul map thing is a shared map that buffs all characters altogether just like the Beginner Map. With that being said, notice the "batch upgrade" option, basically PW3's autofill which they never should've taken out, but better late than never I suppose.
I hope the new missions are whole other levels to the Treasure Log and not just a set of one-and-done story stages that don't fix content drought (as seen with Samurai Warriors 5)
Played for half an hour, game looks ok on the switch, but the loading screen of the sunny jumping on the waves is gorgeous.
Hope to play a bit more of the game later this week.
I find it a bit funny that manga-Yamoto is so bland power-wise that the developers went the anime route...the trailer does looks cool. I want to see Hybrid Kaido in action, he's bound to be a monster.
Character pass 4 and the new missions are confirmed to arrive on September 14th, as per the livestream. Check it out for new Hybrid Kaido and G5 Luffy gameplay. Lightning is just integrated in the moveset but Bajrang Gun is a super.
If I get the deluxe base game and this new character pass 2, does that cover all the dlc characters available? I've been trying to google for what the 9 characters are in the deluxe so I'm assuming it's the 3 from whole cake, 3 from worst generation, and 3 from wano.
Talk about getting overwhelmed by the number of various dlc options.

Yes, that is right.
Hybrid Kaido looks hella fun, but I'm not in a hurry. I'll wait until the price is lower...
Strongest creature in the world
Just as an aside note, it's odd how Kaido's hybrid form isn't really any bigger then his normal self, where the hybrid form for someone like Lucci makes him twice as tall.
Update is out btw, new characters are awesome

Isn't that just how it works for Lucci and Kaido in the manga and anime to begin with...?
@Gear-4-Sauce Yes, but it still is weird. It would seem the bigger you already are, the less size you gain.
Yamato mission is available for purchase now too ($2.99)
Yamato breath attack MELTS shields/defenses.
The Special Log seems to me like an experiment.
It reminds me of a mode from Dynasty Warriors 5....whose name I have forgotten at the moment.
Were Garp and Koby always enemies in this game or were they recently added?
@JustaGuy Both are NPC's in the base game.
I hope we get Apoo, Bonney. and Aramaki next.
Did Jinbei appear on the Sunny before this update? I saw him on there at one point (he was standing behind Usopp), but whether he shows up or not seems to be random. (I had just played part of Yamato's story in the Special Log section and he appeared when I went back to the main menu after that, but I'm not sure if it's a coincidence)
@Megadoomer They added him as part of the update

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the next characters were already leaked a while ago. You can see it on the previous page of this thread but I'll leave the quote here anyway.

According to this datamine list:
We're getting Yamato (all forms), Uta, Roger(!), Rayleigh(!!), Garp (young version), Koby (good timing) and Luffy/Law with their Onigashima outfits. Plus Kaidou with a Hybrid form and Nika Luffy, unsurprisingly.
Looks like the focusis Film Red and the Oden flashback.
@FolhaS ah that's fine though, i hope we get another batch of major character with unique fighting style or story dlc rather than move to PW5 and have all the content (especially character) missing again, considering the game is still visually good enough and the story is still stuck at egghead.
It's a shame Koei only does Xtreme Legends for Samurai and Dynasty Warriors, as this game could have really benefitted from one.
