@RobZilla:
Hmm, it was probably just to preserve Ryuuma as a threatening villain.
Like, Sanji and Zoro's zombies had plenty of comic relief, so it didn't matter about them retaining pretty much 100% of their personalities.
Ryumma though, was down to the ground serious and really wouldn't have been as threatening if he'd been asking to see girls panties before threatening to mutilate Brook's afro.
Yeah that's a good point. It was a super serious moment and it had lots to do with fleshing out Brook's character and motivation more. Honestly I liked pretty much everything about it, and it was a clean way to get Zoro a new sword after EL
@Katzztar:
Ice doesn't have salt in it. As the sea water freezes, it leaves the salt behind in the unfrozen water underneath, making in even more saline.
The zombies themselves could be out in the sun, the people without shadows are the ones that 'vaporize' in the sunlight.
And at Marineford, please correct me if I'm wrong with a link, but it was zombies already pre-made so Hogback didn't need to be there, I do not remember seeing Moriah removing the shadows, just ordering the zombies to rise and fight.
Good point on the ice thing. And yeah I knew the zombies could be out, which is why I said the original guys he took the shadows from would still be out in the sun. I don't remember if Moria said Hogback premade the zombies, I just remember him saying all the people around made it so that he had plenty of guys to take shadows from
yeah so I just checked, the zombies definitely came out of the ice and he didn't mention anything about Hogback premaking the zombies. They all have monster appearances too and have stitches instead of just looking like regular Marines would, whereas in TB they all looked weird and had stitches cause Hogback was the one combining them together. Though I guess I can forgive that since the appearance makes them identifiable as zombies, and I can slide this into the category of visual things that are done for the sake of ease (like how DFs don't affect peoples' clothes). Still, the sunlight thing is a plot hole. The original Marines he took the shadow from should still be scattered around the battlefield, unconscious, exposed to direct sunlight.
