Suda has gotten too far into this shock-n-gore phase. My favorite game of his is still Flower Sun & Rain, it's got a surreal charm that I dig immensely.
And I think that's the true strength of Grasshopper, is how surreal they can get, and how they mix that with over-the-top violence. Killer 7 is a good example, and a lot of No More Heroes just sounds like a fever dream if you try to explain it. But Lollipop Chainsaw and Killer is Dead, and now… this thing... just feel like only the violence is left. they're off-beat, but don't have whatever it was that made NHM and the others so fascinating.
I don't know, I didn't play the last few games because the gameplay and trailers I saw turned me off, so maybe I'm talking out my ass. But I sure don't think I want to play Let It Die, either.
