Off to work in AX. Wish me luck :3
How was your Day 2 (general chat)
-
-
Today I returned.
-
This weeks is going to be all about my driving license. First off the bat is a mandatory 3 hour lecture about risk.
Then it's two driving lessons to prepare for city driving. And to round it off i've got my skidpad "test" on friday.
-
Is it more convenient for you to be going to work in the city with a car or are you just doing this for shiggles?
-
No i can't imagine that i'd ever drive to work on a daily basis. To me it's mostly an employability thing. Like if it comes down to me and another brand x dude, and that dude knows which foot thingy makes the metal box go vroom vroom then he's going to trump me even if we are both equally useless in everything else.
That and everybody in my life seems really into me getting it, so that i can run errends and drive them around i guess lol. Just wish it didn't leave such a huge dent in my wallet, that skidpad course alone costs 350 bucks US.
-
whaaaa that's insane
It cost me about $12 USD for my license in Kentucky. There was a vision and written test, and after passing that, I was scheduled for the skills test where I basically looped around the neighborhood, paralleled parked, parked on a hill, ect. It was very easy, and I don't think I even paid anything for the test, just the fee for the license itself. $350, my god
What is driving like in Sweden? I would think Swedish drivers are among the best in the world, considering the hoops they seem to put you through, and the cost.
-
In Finland the courses one needs for a driver's license cost well over a thousand euros. Yay. \o/
Wow, haven't been in here for a while… It feels kind of refreshing to write a post. :D This summer has been pretty crazy so far. I'm working two internships so I don't have a vacation for a change. I also received over four thousand euros in family pensions last month, which is looking to improve my life in many ways. I got to pay off debts and a portion of my student loan, so not a huge amount remains anymore, but it's still enough for me to visit Milan with my boyfriend. :3 And even after the trip taking its swipe at my bank account I'll be able to stash away a good sum for a bad day. Not to mention I actually get paid for my other internship. Not too shabby! I have satisfied some of my more materialistic urges with the money too, of course, but let's not discuss that in too much detail... heh heh... HEH. [sweating intensifies.]

Whaaaaat!?

Whhaaaaaaaaaaaaat!?!?!?! I don't know whether if I should throw out some congratulations or mind my own business and stop misinterpreting things~

With "materialistic" I meant I kinda went and bought some stuff. Cool stuff. Lots of it. Maybe… too much... but I'm saving now, I promise!!!

Oh crap! Lol, I completely read that all wrong. I read "maternalistic" rather than "materialistic". My bad. ~_~
-
400 in various registration fees
1400 dollars in actual driving lessons.
350 for the skidpad course
220 for the risk theory
230 a pop for each attempt at the driving examThat's a pretty lowball estimate of what i has/or will cost me.
Man 12 dollars for a license? That's crazy cheap

The first year of university is finally complete! Phew, it was a long and hard journey and it has only just began!
I'm so damn lonely lately. Not the kind of lonely who doesn't meet anyone for days. My heart just longs for someplace else at the moment. I miss his hugs really~
Damnit I have to stay strong, but life just teases at every moment! What's on the radio? Love songs. What do I see? Happy couples everywhere. Whom do I dream about? Of course with him…
-
I am now offically done with ten years of groundschool. It sucked to say goodbye to all my classmates but i cant wait to go to a new school and meet new people.
-
Today i've been exposed to far too much of the local troubadour of choice.
Among his many rockabillyish masterpieces are songs about a chevrolet being overtaken by a volvo, about that he's run out of booze and one about how he gets to bang so many girls cause his ride is so sweet and his schlong is so long.
-
Every day around 8:40 pm I eat like a pig, which is kinda ironic.
My day was hot, tiring, and looong. Summer has a way of blending all the days together like that. At least weekdays.
-
Like I expected, my Italian placement test put me in the lowest level lol
Just one more day until July 4th, where I'll be with relatives! But alas, there is one more hurdle: I have to close tonight at the movies. Problem? It is the day before a holiday, so they stay open past 1 AM despite it being a weekday. Plus there's new movies out, including the still-popular Transformers.
…..help me.
-
Last week, I went to my dad's cousin's house to learn about her work with animals, and had the opportunity to be her assistant. Despite the fact that I had allergies the whole time, I really enjoyed being able to care for the cats and give a little, old shih tzu a bath (which she actually enjoyed). So today, I'm going back over there to work some more and spend the night. If everything works out, and I'd like to continue doing this, I might have a job!
-
I've got a Laptop again. After over a year. Yay. it's Mum's old one. Which is actually pink, double yay!
-
I'm trying arduously to force myself back into gaming. These days, I can barely manage around thirty minutes without growing bored.
What do I need in my life, above all?
Adventure!
-
Discovered that Norway serves a purpose after all. Funny dudes.
-
My first year's results came yesterday. I think I got lucky, I got into the highest class and I didn't just scrape in … Waiting (im)patiently for my rank to be released so I know how many people beat me. I guess about 50.
Beat a couple of people who are really good at a certain subject in that certain subject, but I don't want to pursue said certain subject further down the line, so I'm happy, but I'm a little disappointed :p

Okay.

HAHA!
Happy 4th of July everyone! Doesn't matter if you're an American or not. Have a good one~
No work today woot woot~
-
Okay.
It's a fairly rural place.
In other news today i had my skidpad run, and it was alot of fun, summer tires, wet roads and inexperienced drivers is a sure-fire recipe for some nice slides and spins. But now that both that and the risk theory course is taken care of, i'm only about 5 driving lessons away from taking my exam, so yay.

I've been meaning to ask this for pages but what the heck is a skidpad.
-
Oh it's a track where you go and test the cars handling under various scenarios.
For instance one exercise was where you test how far it'd take you to stop with summer tires on a wet road.
Maybe you guys don't have that as a mandatory in the states
-
Didn't really do anything patriotic today because I was tending my Dad whose leg was bothering up, but hey, it's Independence Day. 'MURICA!
-
Last day of work, hello vacations !!!
Besides a creepy weeaboo with a love for tentacles and his idea to make a love poem about that (don´t ask) I will miss the library. Now Is time to watch To Aru Majutsu no Index and get prepared for my trip to Baltimore.

I'm guessing this is more a rural/urban culture clash we're experiencing here.
By wet road I take it you mean dirt roads. Because aside from the rare offchance of hydroplaning I don't think wet concrete is particularly a different animal? It would be interesting to ask rural American AP people if they have stuff like that. But in CT, let alone Southwest CT, lolllll.
-
I think some Minnesotan I know from real life was talking about how it was mandatory over there for them to know how to drive in very inclement weather (such as at least several inches of snow and frozen roads). Also I looked up what a skidpad actually is and I guess it's more about trying cars out on various road conditions without worrying about harming other drivers. I think they have those in the US but I doubt anybody really uses them that often.

But even the fanciest people in the capital have to go through the skidpad course.
And no it's just a normal concrete road, with water on it, and a bunch of obstacles that you have to avoid.

Oh man if only i could get an easy, hassle-free, 12 dollar US license. Too bad they aren't valid over here. If they were, i would forsee a mass-industry of people traveling to US to get their dirt cheap licenses to bring home. Like the new medical tourism lol.
-
I spent fourth of July with relatives…..it kinda sucked that it rained practically all day and we couldn't swim in the pool. But I got to see everyone, which was nice....despite me eating way too much and feeling like crud after lol

You have to get your learner's permit first.

My god, the last two days were fantastic!!
First I went to a water park called the Hawaiian Falls with my folks and siblings. Then, I went over to their house for a 4th of July Family BBQ!!
Man, it's been sooooo long since I had a 4-day weekend which is just what I needed to help get over all the bullshit that I had to put up with throughout this year. I feel so much better now!
-
I'm late but I feel my new signature portrays the 4th July preeeetttttyyy well… in certain aspects.

Not really? I mean there are people drinking, but at large gatherings outdoors.
The stereotypical 4th of July is a BBQ in someone's backyard and fireworks, either your own, a display set up by the town at the nearest open area, or both. It's a very social outdoors type holiday. -
Ahh, what a busy few days these have been! I had a wonderful time helping to care for the cats and the dogs at my dad's cousin's house, you know what? For simplicity's sake, I'm just going to call her my aunt from now on…, though I think I prefer the dogs to the cats because they don't give me allergies, and I just love them so much. The cats are still pretty fun though; four kittens upstairs to look after, two big, 13-14 year old cats that live downstairs, and two younger kittens who also reside downstairs; those two little guys came in with rashes though, so we can't play with them until it clears up…
Yesterday, I helped with the fundraising for the shelter booth at a festival in Chili, NY. We sold sooo many Beanie Babies for some reason ! Plenty of generous donations, too. After a long day, we got to see the fireworks from the same location, and it was one of the best displays I've seen in my entire life; it left me silenced with awe for the entire half hour. There were some parts that seemed like the finale, but then it just kept going. The actual finale could have very well knock your socks off! So many bright, colorful explosions, booms, and crackles. Here's a little clip during the first ten minutes; not as awesome, but still pretty:
Perfect way to end the day.Today was more animal care like on Thursday, though I was able to hold one of the big old cats (he seems like one Print would like a lot), and got COVERED in hair, but it was worth it. :) and I took allergy medicine the night before.
There's so much more I could say, but don't want to bore you with the details. In short, my past few days were pretty neat. -
At my house you buy a pack if black cats and blow up ant piles, and at night we used to watch my dad almost blow off his hands by holding stuff as long as possible after lighting them
Never really had a traditional BBQ -every year- but it was the holiday we went to grammy's and watched fireworks off the bridge
This year I got really really shit faced at Carter's though and we played mariokart and then I got sick in my car this morning
God bless america

Last year was awesome because I had with Chrissie. We went to my uncle's place in Trumbull for a BBQ, then drove home when it started to get dark.
We didn't go to a town display, but we didn't have to.
We just went for a night walk, people were launching fireworks from their houses all the fuck over the place. Way better than an official display, no crowds, no traffic, no uncomfortable beach towel shit.
Just a dark almost private walk with displays shooting up out of backyards.
And by the time we got home the neighbors behind us or in front of them (the street behind us I dunno) started shooting a whole ton. So we sat out on the back patio and got a little private show.
Also she learned the joy of lightning bugs. -

Ah and that's where they really gut you financially?
In other news i had a pretty lazy day. Made some pulled pork, watched a couple of documentaries and played some ducktales with the girlfriend.
And now i suppose i'll just get some caffein in me, listen to some uptempo shit and wait 'til my ever moving mind blacks out from exhaustion.

I'm glad you guys will be able to spend every 4th of July like that from now on :)
I went up to Carter's this year bc I probably won't be able to see his new apartment again until September. He lives a high rise that's like a block away from the Capitol building, and though we went out for a little bit, the whole city was totally dead haha. Never even saw anything from his 8th story window but I never looked tbh. Spent most of the day in bed messin around anf takig cat naps, except for when we bothered to forage for burgers and booze (after which drunk video games happened and I harassed some of his final fantasy pals)
His bed is just so comfy ;_; mine is like a fucking prison mattress
-
The neighbors are blowing up their leftover firecrackers and it's making the dog anxious as hell. July 4th is over, assholes!!!!
-
Judging from previous years neighbors won't stop lighting firecrackers until hmmm…probably the end of next week if we're lucky.
-

Speaking at least for myself, I would say these very much fall into the realm of absolutely amazing things that one can take completely for granted. I've certainly always loved them myself, but having grown up somewhere where they're a regular occurrence, I suppose I would say that I simply don't really have much of a sense of wonder at them. As someone once observed to me, though (a brother, I believe), to someone who had never seen them before, experiencing them for the first time – seeing the night sky filled with floating, blinking lights -- could easily be surreal, as if they had been transported to some fantastical, otherworldly place.
I really do think it's one of the great pities of the world, how easy it becomes to take the wonder around us for granted. I certainly hope Chrissie had an amazing experience being exposed to fireflies for the first time.

I cannot stand one of the people who works at the place I do. every single fucking time I see him, he gets on my nerves. like at least I don't have the misfortune of working with him very often at all, but he pisses me off. just little stupid fucking things. i know I shouldn't be letting this fucker piss me off this much, but seriously. which part of my brain do I stab to stop thinking about the stupidity that is his existence. I know how to do my job and I'm good at it, and I don't appreciate taking orders from a moron who started working AFTER ME. he acts like he's in charge when really he's incompetent trash. it's not like I'm the only one who has a problem with him either. fucking unbelievable. :getlost:
-
Well, that's that for my bussiness trip. Will go back to México Tomorrow. it's the Second time holidays get in the way of work so i will have that in account next time.
Oh, and holy shit everyone is beautiful and attractive in AX. I think i should get into a relationship when i get back…or a nice string of one-night stands. Lol.
Also, i fuckin hate kill la kill and everything in here was that. And people was complimenting my DQM 2 special edition 3DS :3
Or maybe i can also..

If you don't mind, what does he do that pisses you off so much? Is it his leadership? Does he display a lack of skill for the job or a skill set that is below the people he is in charge of? Is it something he's doing to you personally, intentionally or unintentionally? Whatever it is it sounds like a personal affront.
-
I'd love a bottle of whisky right now…
-
Well, it wasn't exactly today, but me and my team got second place in a beach rugby tournament in Bosnia and Hercegovina.
8 games total and every muscle in my body hurts today. I was like a zombie at work this morning. But it was awesome!I'm the one sitting on the left end.
!
-
I feel like crap today.
One little word could solve everything, but it's just not coming. One little word.
I have to watch something that has no romance or love in it.
