So yeah…this completely flew under my radar, but Nicholas Cage will be playing the main character in a movie based on a fairly popular Apocalyptic Literary serie titled "Left Behind" (that finished up around 13 years ago).

This serie was actually turned into a movie serie a LONG while ago while the books were still being written. The studio managed to produce 2 before the authors (who are clearly religious) perceived it to be a pile of contrived, preachy church basement shit and sued the studio to halt the production of 2 additional movies and a tv serie. Now…several years later, they are trying again with the clear intent to appeal to the general audience.
The interesting thing is, the book serie DOES focus mostly a lot on the apocalyptic fun stuff (plagues, explosions, murders, etc...) but at the same time tried to balance out the boring religious schmuck. It seems this movie clearly will be focusing on the explosions and intrigue, but I am curious how they will handle the movies without being TOO preachy about "believing in God or facing his wrath" sort of message that is fairly consistent throughout the franchise.
Will this actually be successful? Probably not.
Will this cause repercussions that will backfire on the studio and the authors? Probably will
Will Nicholas Cage be worthwhile to watch in an apocalyptic goof of a movie? Hell yeaaaah!
OOOOH btw...before anyone beats me to it. Here is a completely relevant clip:'
