The new shichibukai being Woop Slap
Things we hope never happen in One Piece

- Luffy doesn't pull a naruto with the alliance thing and how he can make allies so fast and that's the most powerful ability ever. 2) Luffy doesn't pull a naruto and was a successor of Gol D Roger/Ashura. "Theory: Maybe Gol D Roger was not the strongest indivisual but had the same alliance ability so he is perceived as powerful" 3) Luffy doesn't pull a Natsu Dragneel where he wins all his fights in one punch.
-
I really don't see how Roger could've had the Gum Gum Fruit at this point; if he did, you'd think that one of the many characters who knew Roger in the past (Garp, Sengoku, Shanks, Buggy, Rayleigh, Whitebeard, Shiki, etc) would've made mention that "Hey, that kid has the same devil fruit powers that the King of the Pirates had!" in response to Luffy. Someone would have made mention of it at some point. I think Roger just has insanely powerful haki up the wazoo.
Honestly I'm placing more of my money on Joy Boy formerly having the Gum Gum Fruit, assuming that he turns out to be an important character later on.
-
Binks not turning out to be important character.
-
Luffy dying at the end of the series. Might happen, but I hope it won't.
The crap about using gear 2 shortening his life span, Iva's healing taking away 10 years and don't remember if there are more things which shortens his life. I don't want Oda to end him like Roger.Yeah but who knows if the Gum Gum fruit had any powers in lengthening his life span or casing him to age slower since he is made out of rubber unlike normal people? Just an idea
-

Well when he's hurt, he bleeds and heals like normal people… when he eats, he absorbs it like normal people (and I recall him going to poop at least once)... probably ages like normal people too lol. We don't get old because our skin or any other solid part of us "expires", we have a new set of skin every month (cells come off and become dust and regrow), Luffy would probably go through the same cycles til they wear out since he does heal/etc. Of course, we're talking science applied to a manga where we just saw Usopp's eyes come out like snakes, Doflamingo make a sweating talking string clone, and everyone's teeth getting sharp when angry or their eyes turning to Beli signs when thinking of money... so sense doesn't necessarily apply here.
As for Roger, wasn't there some control over the waves or something by him in a flashback? I could be mistaken about that, but I figured if he had a fruit, it was one that lets him control water or the sea. (Even if he can't touch it... such would be the fate of a devil-fruit-eating king of the pirates) We know his first mate knew haki so it would be kind of redundant if Roger only knew haki unless it was just really awesome conquerer's haki that was so badass it knocked out everyone but Garp (of course, Silvers' was pretty good too). Marines and pirates these days may just be tougher, though, since there are so many, and maybe nobody really needed that much power back then. In any case, One Piece is starting to drift away from "power" related fruits (since Luffy just beat a fishman who was pretty much infinitely strong from all those pills) and going to reality-altering fruits (toys, art, etc) or ones that otherwise bypass power and do damage cheaply. I almost would like to see what it was like in Roger's day before all the craziness, if it really was less extreme then. But these days, instead of being like DBZ where it's power vs power, it's more like hoping your range of abilities isn't made useless by reality changing or someone moving at the speed of light and shooting lasers at you.
-
If anything, I'm hoping that nothing happens to Oda that he can't finish the series. That would probably be the most devastating thing as this series I have been following since middle school.

Blackbeard's butt at any point of time.

The new schichibukai being Gin.
I don't see how this would be a bad thing… might actually be amazing considering Oda would connect current with the past. For all we know, Gin became a total badass over the 2 year time skip. It's all in the presentation
-
So many people have said things I've wanted to say. To the guy who mentioned a live action, Japanese live actions make Dragonball Evolution look like Citizen Kane, so we can at least hope for an English adaptation.
Edit: I see people talking about Gin! Number 1 Gin fan right here guys. I'm pretty sure he isn't coming back, but we can dream.
-
The problem with a live action adoptation is that the storyline in one piece is simply too stretched and contains too many elements that are crucial to the plot and ties everything togheter. If you condense the story into a feature film ending with Luffy finding Rogers Treasure (Wich is the ultimate end of the journey and something you cannot leave out) you would have to cut too many great elements, characters and storylines. The only way you could make it work is if you made it into a trilogy to make room for crucial elements such as giving every crewmember a proper introduction, the void century, The Will of the D, Marineford with Luffy, Ace and Sabos backstory, The Revolutionary army and ultimately Raftel, Blackbeard and One Piece.
Its simply too much and a 2hour feature film journey from EAST BLUE to RAFTEL would never work.
-
-
Lol yeah… all of one piece in a 2 hour movie would be halarious.
Luffy: "Hey sword guy! Join my crew! punches Axe Hand"
Zoro: "Sure"
Luffy: "Hey cat burglar! Join my crew! fights Buggy"
Nami: "Okay"
Luffy: "Hey big nose..."
You probably couldn't even name all the characters in One Piece in 2 hours. -
If they ever make a live action movie of One Piece it'll be revolutionary for it's cheesy special effects.
-

Hope they don't have The Last Airbender crew do it… Ace/Sabo will need to be near flames to firebend. Plus all the names will be mispronounced... Luffy will rhyme with Puffy, etc. The first thing to go will be fun and humor, though (or anything else worth watching)

Oda answering power level questions in sbs

Agreed, also, it would be good for Sanji's fans, as he would most likely be the one to fight him.
Anyway, things I would never want to see in One Piece… The future, most "powerful" battles in the story, being all about energy beams and explosions, like most other shounen... (Although I think it's safe to assume Oda won't take this route.)
-
Monkey D. Dragon being paramecia.
-
From everything we've heard about the 7th Shichibukai, it's not going to be Gin.
I can see Gin being one of the SH's allied captains by EoS though.
-
It'll probably be someone new for the 7th; don't think fans are screaming out for someone in particular besides Buggy who already is one.
Power levels would be funny. "It's over 9000… Cavendishes!"Edit: I'm also gonna post this thing I hope we never see happen-- Sabo dying. I think everyone would facepalm for that as hard as if Ace wasn't really dead.
-
And I'm thinking the Shichibukai system is going to be dissolved before the we see the 7th in the manga. Then, he'll only be seen again as the next movie's main antagonist.
-
That Dragon is actually a goof like luffy and Garp…
That One piece is just the "adventure" getting to Raftel
that Luffy gets strong enough to take down a yonkou the next 100 chaps without a timeskip...
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
That we never see any of the East blue chars again besides Buggy...

How do you not expect Dragon to be a good guy by now? Saving luffy in Loguetown, Saving Sabos life and countless of others in the grey terminal, investigating the situation in Dressrosa is not enough at this point?

Being a goof is not even remotely the same as being a good guy.
-
I'd like Dragon to be along the lines of a more serious and focused Grap, but still retaining the occasional quirk like narcolepsy.
-
Getting lost doesn't affect Zoro's "coolness" or character, why should it affect Dragon?

We need to start a petition to bring Gin back or something :D

Agreed. Someone said from "everything we've heard about the 7th Shichibukai it's not going to be gin", you mean that it's a male? Pretty sure that's the ONLY thing we've heard.
-
Hopefully it's not Moria again.
Wouldn't mind if it was Absalom, even though he was beaten, but he's now the sneaky invisible photographer Absa or whatever. -
As much as the Baratie arc is totally awesome, Gin making his return would be pretty weird.
I mean, even in the Baratie Arc he was basically Krieg's subordinate, and couldn't handle the Grand Line at all, and know you expect him to be the last Shichibukai?
You might as well expect Kuro to return, using his sneaky plans to head into the New World.
If you're expecting a Coby 2.0, I don't think even Coby was this out of the blue. At least Coby had a cover story, and Garp super training, and he still wasn't a big name. -

Things I hope won't happen in One Piece…
Well, there is one: I hope that Marines won't happen to be completly irrelevante up until the final saga, when they will suddenly become incredibly competent and a real threat.
You know... kinda like the first half of Grand Line.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also, completly off-topic, because I'm quite drunk... I just realised that there is Akainu skin for the forums. And i'm quite happy about that ^^
-
I Just hope the Marines are never made to look like a complete Joke like they were on Enies Lobby that was truly awful, thanks to that I just can't take the rank of Captain and Commodore seriously ever again.

Maynard and Smoker say hi…
Now I'm starting to think that even Fujitora might get that treatment and it pisses me off, because Admirals were always the one marine rank that got stuff done.
It's annoying.

Nothing annoying in there, it's just a proffesion that the strong guys are not really into, when there are more fun stuff on the sea like Pirate. We are yet to see a Marine with Haoshoku Haki and I doubt we will ever see one. The Marines are lucky to have someone like Sakazuki on their side.
This is the only reason why the Shichibukai idea makes sense but like most system, it has loopholes.

Hmm… there is some realism there: Self-gain always brings more out of people then altruism... but even so, we were lead to believe that Vice Admirals are strong.
The problem here is that they are not portrayed as weak. Rather, they are portrayed as strong, and then get their asses handed to them for hype. And that's a problem, if we are to believe that WG is a significant player in the world.
And, especially now, I have the feeling that plot is working against them, when Oda already hyped them as stronger then ever. I mean, just compare the impact Fujitora had on his introduction, to that of other Admirals.
Also, betting you that every Admiral level guy will turn out to have Haoshoku. Garp is almost certain, to be honest.

It turning out that Roger had the Gomu Gomu no Mi.
I would probably have to quit the series if that somehow ever happened. It already bugs me that Roger had the hat.
Robin never gets a serious 1 on 1 fight.
She had a really good one during Skypeia.
@zeff:
Sanji not getting a decent photo for his bounty even after the series is finished.
I hope he never does. It's one of m favorite gags in the series. Everyone knowsits him, and those to dumb enough to realize it make it so that he can one day pull off another Mr. prince act.
@Devil:
Sniper Island actually exists.
But it does. It's in your heart.
Also - I hope that not all upcoming arcs will be about some drama (like last two). I miss adventures.
But, every arc has been about drama? The only arc that's ever begun due to a sense of adventure was Sky Island. And that quickly became all about the drama. I guess I'm not sure what you mean by this. Especially since this arc has definitely had a sense of adventure in all of its fantastical qualities. To me at least.
@Devil:
Not getting another adventurous, not plot-heavy arc.
In relation to above. Hasn't every arc been plot heavy? To you, what is an example of one that hasn't.
-
Kinemon becoming a Strawhat. Possibly the worst candidate ever. Do we really need a third swordsman and a 4th pervert? hell no.
-
@Nex:
I would probably have to quit the series if that somehow ever happened. It already bugs me that Roger had the hat.
Hahaha yeah I know, man.
Fortunately it won't.
The strawhat thing bugs me to, tbh.
Shanks passing it on was more than enough.

Nah, not every. Every arc after the timeskip? Yes.
Before that, adventure was main focus. Now is drama, and sometimes it's forced.
For example PH really could do without two groups of crying people who needed constant saving. -

Water 7/Enies Lobby: The arc(s) with the single most drama ever in One-Piece.
Marineford: Do I even need to explain? (same for Impel Down. Amazon Lily not so much.)
Arlong: so much drama.
Fishman Island: Arlong's drama done worse.Thriller Bark and Skypeia are the only two arcs that are really free from lots of drama.
One-Piece has always been very drama heavy.

You might as well expect Kuro to return, using his sneaky plans to head into the New World.Given that Don Krieg was 2 years ago using killer Gas as weapon Oda esily can tie him to Cesar and make Krieg return along with Gin as New World Underworld Brokers.
It would not be weird at all this way. Kuro is not impossible to bring back as well. -

…
W7/EL is a personal drama done right. That's why it had impact.
Marineford was mostly personal too. One family wages war on whole world all that.
There also were Loguetown, Sabaody, Little Garden and Drum and Baratie. You know, stories where drama is strong but subtle or not-that important overall. Now everything is Alabasta, crying princesses, crying children, crying fishmen, crying toys, crying former toys, crying dwarwes, crying marines…
Three arcs in a row adventure is overshadowed by tears of the innocent.
This manga seriously needs another drama-light arc like Thriller bark. "SH as white-knight heroes" thing is getting old. -
Maynard and Smoker say hi…
Now I'm starting to think that even Fujitora might get that treatment and it pisses me off, because Admirals were always the one marine rank that got stuff done.
It's annoying.I want to say "Aokoji says hi from the deck of Garp's ship at Water 7." so bad here
… but it can be argued he wasn't there to arrest the SHs but to 'make sure Garp did his job', which was to arrest them, though he didn't try too hard. .. both Garp and Aokoji smiled when they got away so one can say he didn't do anything there -
Man I wish Yugi had a chance to play against the decks used these days. Holy shit he'd get wrecked so fast.
Well not neccesarily you gotta realize if Yugi played against todays decks with his own than he is still on his own Ban list so Pot of Greed Graceful Charity and Dark Magician of Chaos are going to be running around in his deck.
-

Enies Lobby is one of the weakest parts of the entire series.

What in the hell are you defining drama as if those arcs don't count.
This manga seriously needs another drama-light arc like Thriller bark. "SH as white-knight heroes" thing is getting old.
Being as Punk Hazard was basically a rehash of Thriller Bark I find it funny that the existence of upset people being saved is the only dumb detail making you consider them complete opposites.
Which is of course ignoring Brooke, Cindry, and the Rolling Pirates. -
@Monkey:
Enies Lobby is one of the weakest parts of the entire series.
Nah, it's nothing outstanding, but still good for whatever it is. I liked it.
What in the hell are you defining drama as if those arcs don't count.
Well, I might have phrased that poorly. And I meant first part of Sabaody, which was lighter in the mood.
Being as Punk Hazard was basically a rehash of Thriller Bark I find it funny that the existence of upset people being saved is the only dumb detail making you consider them complete opposites.
Which is of course ignoring Brooke, Cindry, and the Rolling Pirates.See, you compared Brook to whom? To children? Really?
There is a difference between "upset people" in that you actually care for some of them. And it sure feels that some "upset people" are there just for the sake of being upset and being saved.
And, yes, I want less upset people, with such 3 arcs in a row it got old. -
@Nex:
Thriller Bark and Skypeia are the only two arcs that are really free from lots of drama.
I can kind of agree with Thriller Bark but I wouldn't say Skypeia is free from lots of drama. The reason why I love Skypeia so much is because it's the perfect mix of drama and adventure. Skypiea had plenty of dramatic flair like:
-The vengeful descendants, currently lead by Wiper, fighting for their clan's home and revenge on the people who took it. (The 400 Year War)
-Cricket's dream being fulfilled by hearing that beautiful chime, proving Noland wasn't a liar and the land in the sky did exist. (RING THAT BELL).
-The whole flashback with Calgara and Noland was pretty dramatic. (Knock Upstream + Execution)
-Enel trying to kill everybody and I mean everybody because he's crazy. (He's crazy but we love him)To a lesser extent there are:
-Gan being overthrown and his military being killed/turned against him (we didn't really see the beginning).
-The people of Skypiea being oppressed and living in constant fear of execution by someone who can hear them speak.
-Gol D. Roger revealed as having been there and meeting Gan Fall previously.Dramatics I can think of in Thriller Bark (minus the fights) are:
-Brook seeking revenge
-Brook's flashback
-Brook/Laboon connection
-Brook joining the crew
-Kuma's appearance + Zoro's Stand
-Victoria Cindry's sad ending? Most of the drama can be summed up to one character and his eventual strawhat-dom.
