A friend of mine works on… a project that Genndy is working on currently. I'm not at liberty to say due to NDA's and such. But we did have a 3am talk about Samurai Jack and Genndy's reactions ot the Tumblr backlash. Ultimately, this has been the endgame for years. Like if the show had went on before the long hiatus this is still how it would've ended. It probably would've been slightly different with the adult references and liberties but the overall arc was something he had been wanting to do even back then.

I'm gonna have faith.

As we near the airing of the final episode, a sense of sadness has come over me. After waiting 13 years, we'll have to say goodbye to this great show once again. But this time, the story will be complete, and we'll be able to rewatch the series in the years to come.

! Dat opening was PERFECTION. Playing the og intro then having Aku go "LOL NOT" to the entire world….hahahaha. The dogs, the ravers, everyone wants to save their savior samurai.
! SO THEY COME IN
! a little fast mind you, but every second counts in this ~22 minute footage. It's like Lord of the Rings as they dogpile Aku and he fights back, then there's a giant samurai to fight him.....holy shit that Scotsman scene. EVERY daughter was named???? 11/10
Jack breaks free, tries to save Ashi, pulls out the L word which was a little cheesy but not unsurprising, and finally she gets control.
! Now what IS kinda screwy is how they handled the time portal thing, just "wait Ashi you have those powers!" and bam she summons a time portal. I would and should be more peeved, but Aku's "oh no" was totally worth it.
! Loop back to episode, and when Jack returns, he decimates Aku. All of those strikes, the zoom in for the final blow....the rage, the intensity....perfect.
! The world is saved.
! .....and wow, they actually get married. Everything seems happy and......Ashi fades because time paradox. Like how she achieved the time portal ability it kinda just snaps fingers happened when realisticially, she should've faded the second Aku was slain. Not that I'm nitpicking that.
And bam bam, Genndy makes one final callback to the ladybug. Maybe Ashi is gone, but at least there's a brighter future for the world....and Jack, after all his struggle, can rest.
! It's kinda sad when you realize all of his allies have technically faded into oblivion as well, or at the least they won't become the people they are because of no Aku. Sad more time wasn't focused on this per se, but their final moments were to help Jack and Ashi and save the world.

Jack and the Scotsman interaction was the best part for me. Didn't the art seem a bit off this episode? It just felt very rushed

The finale was perfect. The long wait was more than worth it to see Jack's journey conclude, and I'll always remember it.

Killing Aku in the past ensures he's not around to create the dark future that Jack was flung into…..it also ensures that those barbarians looking for land don't get to massacre those innocent villagers:ninja:.

They threw in some thing in this season that explains how eventhough 50 years have passed Jack hasn't aged….which can more or less explain how eventhough Jack did the deed why he continues to still exist and has memories of his adventures.

Seems everything's been wrapped up in a nice little package, except…

! If Aku no longer exists in the future to create Ashi, then she shouldn't have existed to send Jack back to the past in the first place. Hell, should Jack himself even exist?
! How many people that Jack met in the future no longer exist due to the altered timeline?
! Jack still has the mind of 70-year-old (he's technically older than his parents)
! Who was that person that led Ashi to Jack in episode XCVII?
! So the whole reason Aku lost was because he decided to broadcast Jack's execution live? And he took too long to kill him. And Jack's friends apparently have very fast transportation.
! No, really, Ashi's death was just straight up taken from Gurren Lagann, down to it being during a wedding

Seriously though, great, if somewhat rushed, finale. Would've liked if maybe it were a few minutes longer to deal with some of the fallout of Jack's actions, but still a satisfying end.

With Jack killing Aku in the past it would likely mean the past version of himself has nothing stopping him from jumping into the nearest portal at the first opportunity thereby creating a stable time loop,but since we don't know which rules of Time Travel Samurai Jack follows….....

Future Jack and Ashi kill Aku.
Both pop out of existence.
Cut to Past Jack arriving in an idealistic future with him finding a portal via montage.
Back in the past, an extremely confused Aku pops back into existence.
Past Jack returns and kills Aku while he's still weak and confused.

^ Seems kind of redundant but then again killing Aku in the future than killing him in the past was something that the series got people used to the idea of, and weirdly didn't do even as he was pretty much steamrolling over everyone that came to help Jack, Nut then again Jack wasn't exactly the one to choose to stay behind and help like he's done before.
