Hoping the holy trinity of Sanji, Luffy, and Franky are rated high.
One Piece 5th Official Characters' Popularity Poll announced.
-
-
@Lao:
Doffy has to be in the top 10. Don't really care about other characters' scores, since Japanese people tend to have a severely bad taste, when it comes to these things.
You're Technically saying Doffy is for people with bad taste here -_-
-
I'll try to act surprised when Sabo and Law are in the top 5.
-
Hoping the holy trinity of Sanji, Luffy, and Franky are rated high.
you said franky instead of zoro.
-
For me:
- Zoro o Luffy
3)Law
4)Chopper o Sanji
- Zoro o Luffy
-
-
Too bad Franky seems to be the least popular Straw Hat in Japan.
-
It'll just be the Straw Hats and Supernovas together. Yawn.
-
I'll try to act surprised when Sabo and Law are in the top 5.
Ace was 5th place in the last poll, guess his replacement is gonna be there now
-

Ace is still popular. Wouldn't be surprised if he was still in the Top 10.
-
Chopper is pretty lovable in Japan, so he has to be in the Top 5/10.
-
I'm fairly certain Usopp and Doflamingo will be in, at the very least, the top 10
-
I'm sure that the M3 will be in the top 3 even if Sanji didn't have much screen time in the last time, Chopper the 4th and the 5th will go to Law or Sabo.
-
Expecting Doffly for #3.
-
Ace is still popular. Wouldn't be surprised if he was still in the Top 10.
Wouldn't be surprised if he was in TOP-3 you mean…
Anyway, my final predictions, based on my observation of Japanese fandom:
Luffy will probably remain #1, but he could be topped by Law, who is 100% going to be in top-5, most luckily in top-3.
Ace will be within top-5 100%, and Sabo within top-10 (although considering this poll was initiated like half a year ago, Sabo could be significally lower for now). Law and Ace are very luckily to be under Zoro, but over Sanji.Usopp, Franky and Brook will 100% not be in top-10, but will probably remain within top-20.
Chopper will probably remain around 4th-6th spot and Robin will be be on the verge of top-10.
Shirahoshi will be within top-20, I'd even say top-15, and moving Vivi out of top-20. Perhona should be within top-25 too.Doflamingo will be ranked higher than Mihawk or any other Shichibukai (of the old set), Hancock being second popular of the batch and Mihawk 3rd. All 3 will be within top-25.
Aokiji will be the most popular Marine Admiral (ex-admiral now) as usual, Fujitora probably being 2nd.
Smoker and Vergo will probably also rank high.Shanks is possibly to be out of top-10, but within top-15.
CP9 can kiss top-20 goodbye for sure, Kid will remain 2nd top Supernova after Law, either Killer, Hawkins or Drake for 3rd spot.
-
My predictions Top Ten is :
1. Luffy2. Zoro
3. Sabo
4. Sanji
5. Law
6. Bartolomeo
7. Nami
8. Chopper
9. Nico Robin
10. Usopp -

So, something like:
1. Luffy (too iconic and famous to be toppled at this point)
2. Zoro (same as Luffy, but to a lesser extent)
3. Law (stole the show in the last years)
4. Ace/Sanji
5. Sanji/Ace (Ace is somehow still very popular. Sanji lost steam thanks to being 1 year missing, but still has a dedicated fanbase)
6. Chopper (cute mascot character, but also 1 year missing)
7. Doflamingo? (constantly present in the last 2 years. Stole the show alongside Law)
8. Robin (fanservice. Seems more well-liked than Nami and has been present in the current arc)
9. Nami (even more fanservice than Robin. Missing for 1 year too, though)
10. Sabo/Hancock (Sabo is similar to Ace, but very recent. Hancock seems to still be surprisingly popular being part of the fanservice trinity)What would you say about Cavendish and Bartolomeo? Or some of the Donquixote Pirates officers?
-
^ I think that Bartolomeo will be in the top 20, he have some fans.
idk about Cavendish and the officers -

More or less agree with Doula.

idk about Cavendish and the officersCavendish seems to have way more fanart than Bartolomeo in Japan, so I wouldn't be surprised if he's more popular.
-
Law might creep up to number 2 though now that I think about it. There has to be a reason Oda is stroking his genitalia so much. Past 100 chapters he has been main character. It's been Law and the strawhats. He also has that popular make-fangirl-go-into-frenzy design going for him.

Nami will rank higher than Robin 100% and I think they will be parted by 4-5 positions at last. I don't think so for Doflamingo, but it's possible he will be that high up… I don't want to make a list myself ^^;
Bartolomeo will rank higher than Cavendish, but not by far and I think they will be within top-30.
Forgot to mention Whitebeard pirates (silly me) - Marco and Whitebeard himself are luckily to be within top-20 and for sure will be within top-30. Jinbe shouldn't be too far down as well.
As for Doflamingo's crew, I don't think the officers will be in top-100 even, the ones that can make it to higher tiers, like I already said, are Vergo, Sugar, Monet, Baby-5...
I really have no idea where Rayleigh and Roger will be, last time Rayleigh got into top-20 (but it's not likely to happen now, I doubt he'll score in top-30 even).
If I absolutely must make a prediction list... something like this...
[hide]- Luffy
- Law
- Ace
- Zoro
- Sanji
- Chopper
- Sabo
- Nami
- Doflamingo
- Hancock
- Shanks
- Robin
- Mihawk
- Shirahoshi
- Usopp
- Kid
- Marco
- Brook
- Franky
- Kuzan
- Perhona
- Jinbe
- Whitebeard
- Smoker
- Bartolomeo
- Killer
- Vivi
- Crocodile
- Cavendish
- Vergo
- Lucci
- Rayleigh
etc…[/hide]

Even with Nami being absent for a year?

Japanese fans likes fanservice a lot.
And like you said Nami = more fanservice with the bra. -
Japanese fans like fanservice a lot.
And like you said Nami = more fanservice with the bra.I don't think being absent for a year means ANYTHING when we're dealing with One Piece… I'm a Nami fan and I can't really say I feel like she's been out of the scene for that long. She's been absolutely useless for like 10+ years now anyway... And the Mugiwara were all absent during Marineford for more time, fans are used to it.
Nami always was and always will be more popular than Robin, for whatever reason, and I don't really think it's fanservice. Nami has like 2 times as much figures as Robin does, for example. In all possible other general polls, i.e. "sexiest anime character", "best female anime character", Nami will always be present and Robin not.

Robin out of the Top 10 is still hard to believe though. She's still one of the main characters and the secondary source of fanservice moments in the series. She also has never left the Top 10 as a main character (in the 2nd Poll where she was 11th, she was still Ms. All-Sunday).
-
Dead man tell no tales, I keep believing Ace is not gonna be that high in the top 10, top 20 maybe, Sabo, Law and doffly are gonna be with the classic ones M3+Chopper this time.
-
Rebecca have a chance to make it at the top 20 or 30, if you know what i mean.
-
Ace has always been top 10 popular but after dying in Marineford his popularity exploded. It's not a stretch for him to make it into the second place after Luffy. Would be nice too the three brothers in the top 3, but that would be too early and thus quite impossible for the current Sabo.
One Piece has too many characters for a character popularity poll.
-
Robin was above Nami in poll 3, and was only one below her in poll 4. With Robin in the picture and Nami out I can definitely see Robin being ahead.
-
Cheering for Jinbe and three eyed girl :ninja:
-
Jinbe for sure should be at least top 15.
Two panel Three Eyed girl will be shit…. maybe as next nakama she wil rise up :ninja:
-
It's worth noting that despite WSJ being a shonen manga, popularity polls tend to be voted on more be female readers than males
-

True that, pretty much the reason why is Chopper always so high in there, with females taking over this poll and Law being girl's fanservice guy, he has even more chances to get Sanji's spot!!
-

Makes sense.
And if I ever could ask a question to Oda, then why did he choose Law above all the other Supernovaes to be so important, despite the lore that he invented them all from scratch.
Because he planned it all along or Laws high popularity polls right after his introduction? -

Because he planned it all along or Laws high popularity polls right after his introduction?Law and Kid were meant to be more important than the others from the start, being the guys who actually interacted with Luffy at the Sabaody slave auction house.
And theories about Law being connected to Doula Mongo already existed the moment he was shown with a smilie shirt.

That seems to explain Franky's underwhelming performances.

That seems to explain Franky's underwhelming performances.
I just want to say in the most polite and calm way possible that this made me very angry.
Millions of girls are fans of robots, transformers and etc. Franky being or not being a cyborg has nothing to do with his "underwhelming performance" as a character. I also have no idea where "the girls are taking over the poll" is coming from. I doubt that over 50% of Jump readers are females, very much so or that girls tend to vote more than guys do.Go look at "AP character popularity poll" thread, see how many guys voted for Luffy/Zoro/Sanji/Law to be among their top favourites and how many guys voted female characters to be on top of their lists, then come back here and tell me if you still think it's a sole work of ovaries going wild.

I'm sorry, but that was clearly a joke on King Cannon's part.
If anything, he's actually making fun of Oda's habit of making jokes about girls not liking robots.
So I'm going to politely and calmly ask you to give him a break.

Because he planned it all along or Laws high popularity polls right after his introduction? It was clear from the start that Kid and Law were going to be a cut above the rest when it came to Supernovas, with the way they were presented alongside Luffy at the auction house.
I think Law and Kid were always going to be present in the arc, and it was his other ideas for future rivals in the story that were accelerated into the story because of his editors advice.

Yeah, just having fun on Oda's notion that males and females are from "different species".
But it's a fact that being attactive or at least cute helps a lot in those polls.

Ok, thanks. Don't know why this got over my head all those years.

He was quite obviously joking, Mr. White Knight.
-
I had a really odd dream that I was voted the 4th most popular character after Bon Kurei, Zoro, and Luffy, in that order. o__O
I need to stop eating snacks before bed.
-
He was quite obviously joking, Mr. White Knight.
I'm quite obviously a Miss. Also I don't think you quite understand what "White Knights" do, because they usually defend someone or something and I don't think I was defending anything or anyone at all.
Joking or not, what I was doing was adressing a point about females voting more than males which I don't think is true. -
Just let him believe that Alina is a "male" name

Joking or not, what I was doing was adressing a point about females voting more than males which I don't think is true.Your name is ambiguous to me and the majority of this site has male members so pardon me or anyone else if we somehow go with male by default.
And yes, you were white knighting. You got angry because a sterotypical joke was being made towards females so you made a post in order to express whatever idealism you have with the purpose of contradicting it.
Just so you know, female voters are majorly the reason why certain characters rank as high as they do. That's just the way it is. I'm not going to debate about that, especially since your argument stems from personal belief.
-
I can understand the confusion. Just so you know, I'm not a real star.

I've heard it stated in various places that yes, for the popularity polls, girls tend to respond more than guys in the jump polls. I have no idea why. And trying to use the AP poll as proof is dumb, because it's a totally different population. AP is a One Piece forum so most people on it are obviously going to have strong feelings for the characters, and they came to the forum to discuss such things. It's a bit different to people responding to a magazine poll when that's not the reason they read the magazine in the first place
-
It was even said in Bakuman, when it comes to official polls women are more participative than men, which doesn't mean women are majority.
For example; from the 100% of males that read OP only like 40% actually send their votes to the editorial, while from 100% of females, I'd say around 80% of them are participating in this poll, still that 40% of guys is waay more than that 80% of girls.Just look at the AP poll, Chopper is doing pretty bad over there while ranks really high in the official ones, which is clearly done by females.
