I'm on kouch's side on this one, Oda was way too blatant with the whole "Wait, we're NOT going after Doflamingo?!" for it not to be a thing to be addressed.
One Piece Chapter 746: Stars
-
-
That's still exactly his plan, he only did that to let Kaidou kill Doflamingo as far as we know. You want to go through tHe door instead?
Actually, I can't grasp what Law is aiming at. First, he said to Luffy the plan was to take down Kaido, Doflamingo just a step on the way. Then Law confronted Doflamingo saying killing him was his plan all along, tricking Kaido to do it but since things went awry he put his own life on the line to do it himself. And now he warned Luffy about killing Dofla, cause then Kaido would be after them instead. I would have thought he wouldn't care, but I suppose strawhats has grown on him and he's not as willing to risk all their lifes as opposed to his own.
-
A) He is not a Celestial Dragon anymore, by his own admission.
B) Therefore, their privaleges don't extend onto him.
C) And any of his other connections are rendered moot by the fact he cannot contact them in any way. Or do you think that if confrontantion happens, and Fuji denies everything, everyone is going to believe Doflamingo? Especially since Riku will probably be restored to the throne by the end of the arc?
that amounts to very little, it's still in his blood and the government obviously still views him as such in some regard. how can you say their privileges don't apply to him when we literally just saw that they do with the cp-0?? they only deal with the celestial dragons.
-
@TLC:
Yo Daz, not to poop on your well-formed arguments but just saying, you're basing your arguments on mangapanda translations…
Better than the mangastream one still.
-

Having acces to their resources, like CP-0 and having their privaleges, like immunity to law, are two different things, in my opinion.
-
…since things went awry he put his own life on the line to do it himself.
And now he warned Luffy about killing Dofla, cause then Kaido would be after them instead. I would have thought he wouldn't care, but I suppose strawhats has grown on him and he's not as willing to risk all their lifes as opposed to his own.
Since he feared that he wouldn't have a way to get out of the situation he risked his life, it was a desperate attempt. ;)
Now he didn't want Kaidou to kill his "friend" Luffy, it's the same as him telling Mongo about him having no plan about Luffy, and screaming at Luffy to run away, them not being in an alliance anymore and not free him, so Strawhat wouldn't be endangered by Doula himself.
-
Better than the mangastream one still.
Both were pretty sucky, especially concerning who was worth how many stars.
-
I went to mangapanda to read the chapter and they had mangastream's scans. What's up with that?
-
how can you say their privileges don't apply to him when we literally just saw that they do with the cp-0?? they only deal with the celestial dragons.
That person he talked to at Marijoa could have also sent them, probably or it was a favour from the Gorosei for his work and connections.
Both were pretty sucky, especially concerning who was worth how many stars.
Yeah, but some stuff is literally translated, I especially remember the chapter with the Jinbe blood transfusion being better. Come on, who can stand that american clap trap that's coming from MS, they aren't taking themself serious anymore.
@TLC:
Yo Daz, not to poop on your well-formed arguments but just saying, you're basing your arguments on mangapanda translations…
Did you really feel the need to quote two pages of text for that half of a sentence? Oo
-
That person he talked to at Marijoa could have also sent them, probably or it was a favour from the Gorosei for his work and connections.
That is my opinion also, or posibly a CD friend.

This kind of questioned me:
Some of the Pirates freed by Usopp who were down at the factory, worked there for 10 freakin' years. (Some of them just arrived the other day, but I guess it's safe to say that most of them were toys for a very long time.)Seriously, imagine if someone would make you work so hard for 10 straight years, and you couldn't do anything about it, how would you feel?
Then you get freed and get the following options:
A) Kill the man who just freed you, and the guy who enslaved you for 10 years says he makes you rich
B) Kill the man who enslaved you for the past 10 years. For some reason, they all choose A.
It just doesn't make much sense to me.
-
ISNT THE ENTIRE SCENE FLAWED???!
Since I read this early in the morning uk time.. I was wondering .. Why in the world dofla doesn't just control those he has placed bounties on Durrhh . He did it to king riku before and he just put him on 3 stars, meaning he should be able to the 'parasite' moves he is wasting on civilians on some 3 star targets and all of the lower starred targets.I need answers pls
-
It just doesn't make much sense to me.
Greedy human idiots gonna keep following their human instinct of following the fast money. And I don't think they imagine to have a chance against Mongo either, so the choose the hard and not hardcore route.

Yeah, like I said, I didn't think he would care that much about them, especially since they were all pretty much targeted by Dofla anyway alliance or not. But I guess he's fallen completely for Luffys charms and are in it for the long run :) Speaking of alliances, I wonder if Chinjao will do anything else in this chapter. He could be pretty helpful to the hunted party.

Yeah anyone of real worth and one-hit K.O. fodder pirates/bounty hunters will follow Luffy, Chinjao family, Habuka and Barto obviously.

Nothing guarantee Dofla will not just kill them afther this 12 are done, and from their knowing of Dofla they should understand he will not keep his promise.

Those guys are greedy idiots, does there really have to be made any other argument? They will rather fear the guy that was capable of keeping them slaves for some time than some upshot pirate crew. The donquixote are the bigger name to them after all.
-
I don't have the power to go search the exact chapter, but did Tashigi wait for an answer from the gorosei to revok Crocoboy? And she was what? A serjant major than i think, so if a fucking admiral want to revoke a title, he can.
we don't see if she asks to somebody, but since the HQ was already on the move (hina will arrive to alabasta not that much later),we can assume they were already working under directive from the HQ.
the shichibukai are a WG property, not a marine property,so they don't have authority over them.@Darth:Question: What actual prove there is of this being so complex?
back at sabaody kuma clearly said to kizaru that the shichibukai had no obligation to cooperate with the marines since they take order from the government and not the marines.
It's safe to assume that since is the WG is the one with authority over the shichibukai, they should ask permission first to the WG to strip someone of the title. -

True.
But I'm afraid this is the first time I hate something in one piece for bieng idiotic. -
Has Franky gone missing again?
-
Worth of a star next to a persons name = 100 million berries. Total worth of people on DD's shitlist = 2.6 Billion Berries. Usopp's reaction to his bounty….........Priceless. For everything else, there are greedy lowlife idiots who can be tricked into doing your bidding (despite just escaping slavery).

True.
But I'm afraid this is the first time I hate something in one piece for bieng idiotic.Ask yourself this. The average pirate held captive or even average anybody.
Who do you think they believe they can stand up to more, Dofla or these people. -
It's obvious. Fujitora is a string puppet.
-
I normally don't make manga chapter comments but the panel where Usopp out GTA-starred everybody was FTW! I suspect these characters are also going to all get bounty increases after this arc.
-
@Monkey:
Ask yourself this. The average pirate held captive or even average anybody.
Who do you think they believe they can stand up to more, Dofla or these people.Considering Luffy's current bounty is higher then Doflamingo's former one…
I dunno, it does not really strike me as something that would happen... people were ready to lynch Doflamingo at any second before Birdcage went down. His forces did not grown in numbers since then. Why the sudden change to "we can't do it" mentality?
-
Nami would turn traitor with Usopp worth 500 million berri :)
-
Considering Luffy's current bounty is higher then Doflamingo's former one…
Your point? He has grown since that point and would defnitely have a higher bounty than Luffy's current one if his actions were actually still assessed by a bounty.
They were euphoric, because they got their freedom back and instantly got trashed by Trebol/Diamante a couple minutes later. They seem to simply follow the route that's the easiest to them.
I did say I needed answers
What do u think about it tho?
To make it appear more like a game?
-
So is Luffy officially going for round two against Doflamingo or does the fight against Cloneflamingo not count?
-
Because bounties are a, set in stone system. Right. :ninja:
-
@The:
But…Doflamingo has already lost, regarding Kaido. Even if he somehow got out of his current debacle, would he be able to remain on Dressrosa? With his SMILE factory? Unless he murdered Fujitora and made no-one care, this aint' gonna happen. And even if he could somehow pick up the SMILE factory and drag it with him to some other back-up island...
Doflamingo has lost Caesar. He's lost Punk Hazard and the SAD factory.
This is the last batch of SMILE Kaido will ever get.If he manages to contain this incident to some degree, and get away with the last batch of SMILE, he could still subsidize Kaido for at least enough time to think up another plan.
If the SH's and Law destroy the last remaining batch, then he's completely done.
-
@-Pk-:
Great! This kind of Chapter is one of these which I like the most in this Manga.
Some unexpected occasions, a lot of exploratory conversations, a Luffy who dont give a f*** on everything again and, the most important thing, FUN.
Hmm, does Luffy have a reason for not unchaining Law?I think he unchained it, but couldn't manage to remove it, since it is kairoseki. He hopes it will just fall.
Though he could have asked zoro to remove it. -
@Monkey:
Ask yourself this. The average pirate held captive or even average anybody.
Who do you think they believe they can stand up to more, Dofla or these people.Ask yourself this: Do you really think Dofla will let them go at the end? (given they'd be successful, of course)
-
Kinemon's comment on Rebecca's clothes were hilarious.
-
Ask yourself this: Do you really think Dofla will let them go at the end? (given they'd be successful, of course)
… It is not about what Mongo will do, but what they think they will get away with! Did you put any thought into your question?
-
Usopp really needs to just slip on his Sogeking mask now. Dumb as the guys are that turned on him, they probably wouldn't recognize him with it on…
Also, Law vs. Handcuffs is going to be the best fight in this whole cagematch, yup. Unless Luffy's prediction comes true and they do just fall off.
-

They would totally not see the army of Tontatta, Robin, Sabo, Hack, Bartolomeo and Coala.
There lies a crippled and bleeding man with a mask on, who might that be?
-
I think I found a small error.
kyros has 2 stars.
but in translation and the raw ishuhui shown he has the reward of 100 million
but the logic is that it would have a bounty of 200 million.
someone has to take this raw Japanese doubts? -
@The:
Lol, we should form a club! And get T-shirts made!
"Disgruntled One Piece Fan Club"I still think Dryish is outgrumping you on that front. He will probably get to be the president of the club and you'd always be at his shadow of disappointed grumpiness. . .are you ok with that? Isn't it time to up your game???
If this translation is true, it would change things considereably. And if that is the case, feel free to disregard the next big ol' chunk of post, which potentially springs from a non-issue; I choose to post it anyway because well, I'm me, I like to debate, I get carried away, and I really don't think you can rationally defend a scenario (based on the initial MP scanlation) where Fujitora prioritizes hunting Law/Luffy over Doflamingo. Also, I'd spent a bunch of time writing replies before I saw this translation.
To reiterate: the next few paragraphs is based on debates with people under the assumption that translation 1 is correct. But, the thing is. . .he IS prioritizing Law & Luffy over Doffy. The translations differ in the reaction from Bastille; Mangapanda seems more nonchalant, while Stream is more "vocal", literally saying "Don't capture Doflamingo??". I take it as a "What the fuck are you on???". I see TLC sees it like that too, and I don't know, though, if that's the right translation or what. I guess CCC or Bluebeard could shed definitive light on the matter, but in the end, what changes is Bastille's reaction.
What I think is: Bastille is being you, The Daz, and any other person thinking "ok, now we're after that psycopathic tyrant, right?", and Fuji's answer is not supposed to be "natural". There's something else that makes him go against logic. That's what I meant. His actions are still, from what we can take right now, "go as initially planned, after Law and Luffy", so if that infuriates you, by all means I think you should still be pissed at him. Though. . .
Now, As I said, the translation Kouch Lee refers to being correct-and a setup for, say, Fujitora forging an alliance with Law and Luffy to assault Doflamingo, would make this make a tonne more sense. I just think what is indicated by the other translation is indefensible from a character writing standpoint.
. . .Yeah, there's that "possibly" lingering in his mind right now. I wouldn't count on it, to be honest. I do think he's, simply, tied down with both responsability and doubts. I've said it in my bigass post, but if anything, Fujitora has been reaaaaally consistently written: he's bound by absolute laws, symbolized by his "black or white" choices he gives, but at the same time he hates pirates and deeply cares for the citizens. Why does he have this weird duality? Well, I can say that. . .I don't have a clue. But there's something, there're many hints in there left by Oda (two on this same chapter: the bigass pannel of a silent Fuji, and the pannel we've been discussing).
I'll say, though, if come the end of the arc Dofla hasn't fled anywhere, Fuji is busting his ass.
-
They would totally not see the army of Tontatta, Robin, Sabo, Hack, Bartolomeo and Coala.
There lies a crippled and bleeding man with a mask on, who might that be?
You forgot to have them ask why said bleeding crippled man (and the tontatta with him) have burst into song!
Perhaps I should have remembered to put one of these by my post too: :ninja: Usopp's hitting a lot of humorous angles right now, so that would just be some icing on the cake (for me personally). I miss Sogeking times and Barto bringing it up with all the fanboyishness is making me nostalgic. At the very least I hope the thought to try and hide behind it crosses his mind.
-
If he manages to contain this incident to some degree, and get away with the last batch of SMILE, he could still subsidize Kaido for at least enough time to think up another plan.
If the SH's and Law destroy the last remaining batch, then he's completely done.
If Doffy placating Kaido and cooking up new schemes in a post-SMILE world was ever an option, doesn't that rather reduce the impact of the supposedly decisive blow Law wants to deal Doffy with this whole plan?
At this point, as far as we know Doffys only long-term chance at survival is
-Kill every single non-loyal person knowing the truth about Dressrosa
-Protect SMILE factory, maintain Dwarf workforce needed to cultivate plants
-Search the seas, find and reclaim Caesar, set up new SAD factory before Kaido gets grouchy. -
This kind of questioned me:
Some of the Pirates freed by Usopp who were down at the factory, worked there for 10 freakin' years. (Some of them just arrived the other day, but I guess it's safe to say that most of them were toys for a very long time.)Seriously, imagine if someone would make you work so hard for 10 straight years, and you couldn't do anything about it, how would you feel?

don't worry they were a minority, next chapter we will see guy like cavendish or chicano (the pointy head old dude) going for b

-
Perhaps next chapter will determine what/if Fujitora's "real" plan is, and/or this whole mess is because of a weird translation, or something. Because I'm in the camp that wants to give Fuji the benefit of the doubt and thinks there's more at play here…
shrug But alas, I dunno.

I was thinking about possible match-ups for soon to come fights, this is what i came up with

Translator wrote "one" two times in the very same panel, so he probably made an error by writing ".. one… one .. one hundred... ." ;)
-
When Ussop will get his new bounty after this arc, Ussop will have more bounty than Sanji, and I will just laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh at Sanji's reaction.
-
@Monkey:
His only targets are Law and the Strawhats, please read the chapter carefully before calling a character idiotic.
Still idiotic and out of characters. Lots of people gave reasons for it. It a Detail without significance. Maybe there is an elaborate plan behind it. Most likely there is one. But having Issho step out of character like this (or you could say him making his statement ) for fake suspense is laughable. In the End he will be providing Luffy with a fair battleground against Doflamingo because Luffy is going there. So Fujitora will be going there and he will be blown away by the will of the great mugiwara and stop some of Doflas dirty trick so that Luffy can kick his ass. It forseable and pretty boring. We know that he can basically fly and is a fucking admiral. He could be at the rooftop in a fucking second and if Dofla loves his crew so much, as some people claim, Fuji should propose to Dofla, either i kill your whole crew or you release that fucking cage right now.
Fuji saying what he says or commands doesnt make sense. Only reason could be for plot purposes (Luffy changing his mind at some point) or for some fake suspense like fuji planned to go after Luffy because he knew that Luffy is going to Dofla so he is going there to give the mugiwara the fair chance to fight Dofla without interference. I didnt like the devolpment for many reason that are stated here or in other comments. It has nothing to with me reading the chapter carefully or not. Lots of people didnt like the development. Maybe you should be more carefully whilst fanboying what the development is. Dressrosa is awesome but messy with lots of people involved. Of course there are developments that arent liked by everbody.

Desperation, greed and fear made the citizens, marines and pirates go after the ones named on the list.
Even though they know that Doflamingo might not keep his side of the bargain.
They chose the easiest way out, and went against the group they feared less.Any idea who ended up saving Franky?
