Not very logical, the chapter, dressrosa as a whole…
One Piece Chapter 746: Stars

the art and all of the details in this chapter is magnificent. but what i really like and enjoy the most is the "view" of each panels. its really different than in any chapters since Oda starting to cram up every panels and pages. each panel are totally pack but he view is less close up than before that make it feel less crowded and feels fresh.
the art and detail are totally better than before too. -
Fujitora's main goal is to break apart the Shichibukai system, and the more Mingo run amok, the more weight his arguments will hold in the eyes of participants of the Reverie. F
If Fujitora defeats mingo and restores peace on Dressrosa, then someone else will take his place and there is also the fact there are 6 other shichibukais running around. His first goal is and has to be the well being of civilians. He stated so when he was introduced. The path he is taking now seems out of charcter. So hopefully there is some elaborate plan behind it or else he looks like a fool.

@The:
Everyone on the island is currently shouting "My body is acting on its own!" "Someone stop me!" "I'm being controlled!" "This is just like 10 years ago WHICH MEANS DOFLAMINGO FRAMED THE KING BACK THEN, I AM SHOUTING THIS JUST IN CASE ANY MARINES STANDING AROUND WERE CURIOUS"
Meanwhile, on a massive loudspeaker system, Doflamingo announces stuff like
"I could've ruled with terror from the start…but now you know the truth about me!"
"You will never escape!"
"You will all die!"
"The terror will go on endlessly!"
"Your neighbors will kill families, friends will kill friends, and people will kill those they should protect"The last one is said over a panel of a terrified marine shooting randomly. Anyone with 1/10th of a brain can see that huh, maybe Doflamingo is the one making people attack each other!?!?!?!!? Least of all a marine Admiral. Come on, you can't be this much in denial.
Alright seriously I laughed. Try to take me seriously for a minute though, cause I do admit I must sound upsetting to most users here now. I'm not entirely sure those civilians were shouting that in the vicinity of Fujitora, remember Dressrosa is huge.
Doflamingo states in the loudspeaker:
"The people around you will continue to hurt others at random. Be that their family… or their friends... or the citizens they should be protecting. You can run and you can hide but, within this cage, you will never find safety! How many days will the terror of Bird Cage last? Will everyone succumb to death? or will you all manage to end this game first?"
"Scream! Hate! You lot are all victims! Think it over... will you come for my head? or will you, along with us the Donquixote family, bring justice to the 12 fools that stand against me? If you choose wrong, this game will never end. I offer you 100 million berry per star! These fools... they are the true prisoners of Dressrosa!"
"There's no time to dilly-dally about! As the seconds tick by, people are dying! Your city is burning!"
I know that Fujitora probably knows that Doflamingo is behind this, but my point is that I'm not surprised that Fujitora is going with his already given orders which is to capture the SH+Law Alliance instead of the already retracted order to capture Doflamingo. Their talk in the castle would be pointless, otherwise (I can still see it happening though). Fujitora always said he's blind which he deems himself lucky due to not being able to see the filth of the world. So just because he can't target Doflamingo, he can stop the people going crazy to protect civilians so whether or not he goes after Doflamingo, his actions so far have been reasonable in my eyes.
Also if we're talking about Fujitora knowing, it's quite genius that he requested in the beginning of the arc for a large number of medical officers and the number of population in the country.
[hide][/hide]
@The:
Again, theres two highly distinct illegal activities going on here. Shady doings at Punk Hazard, with insuficcient evidence. AND now, the murdering of an entire country with boatloads of evidence.
And the very fact that he's in contact with no one currently, allows him to act upon nobodys judgement but his own. Go finish off Doflamingo, no one even will be able to sprout bureucratic bullshit orders at Fuji until then. And when communications back online, Fujitora can claim any excuse he damn well pleases. Doffy jumped him, and he acted in self defense. Case closed.Alright take me seriously for another minute, what I'm about to say is only one possibility. IF Fujitora decides to only focus on the alliance (wouldn't be surprised if he goes after Doffy though) then they would technically still be on the same side, with Doflamingo trying to capture them, albeit a sick way. Fujitora COULD go after Doflamingo with his own sense of justice like Tashigi did stripping Crocodile of his status (even though it was Smoker took responsibility) and arrest him but it'd be ridiculous to say that they follow the same justice/that it's the same exact scenario, given how convenient his Parasaito technique is to him - as well as him not being stupid enough to coming out and admit he was the one behind it + other statuses. If Fujitora however, stopped everyone who's being controlled, as upsetting as that sounds then there'd be no issue with Doflamingo.
But like I said, that's just one possibility, I for one, would love to see Fujitora with more impact seeing as this is his introduction arc. As hilarious as your idea is, I'm not sure if that fits Fujitora's character.
Personal reasons.
Fujitora IS the higher ups and that's the problem. He was never explicitly ordered that he can't go after Doflamingo no matter what. He just got the info of him not resigning from Shichibukai.
From military rules of engament, Fujitora is the highest ranking officer on the scene and has no way of contacting anyone higher. He should have ability to make his own decisions and judgement in the face of current situation.
True, but what if his decision is to capture the alliance? I mentioned already, there's technically no problem if the Marines held back the people who are being controlled, the fact that I can't see how Fujitora would be able to prove that Doflamingo is behind it, is troubling. Besides the words of the civilians who reached their own conclusion of course, but Doflamingo only mentions the Bird Cage, and people randomly killing each other.
@The:
Again, THAT WAS A DUMB REASON.
Imagine if Smoker and Tashigi were completely impassive towards Crocodile on Alabasta, because they had previously mentioned following the "Warlords are above the law in certain climates" rule
"oooooh Crocodile, I would totally arrest you, but I promised not to since this is a desert island. Instead I will go capture Luffy".
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
This has nothing to do with shackles. Currently, no one is breathing down Fujis neck courtesy of the communications blackout. This is all on him being a moron.
Think of it this way, Smoker had always been in doubt of pirates but he was saved by them and stated he'll let them go for now. He left Tashigi in charge while he goes to contact Hina and capture the Dance Powder ship, saying she should follow her own judgement/justice and he'll take responsibility for it. Tashigi stripped Crocodile of his status as Shichibukai only, he was no King or connected to the World Nobles and let's not forget that she did it after he was found and already beaten. What if Fujitora can't act directly against Doflamingo due to all of his status he technically currently still has, but does it indirectly? Like using his gravity to help them up? Not sure I'd be satisfied with that.. but I don't know, maybe CP-0 will play a part.
Oh and
[hide][/hide]But Fujitora has no eyes.. Yohohohohoho.

Has the actual raw been posted anywhere yet?
-
It is fine that he is going after Luffy from my POV. But i think it doesnt fit with his character putting civilians first and so on. One could argue that Fuji thinks taking down LAW,Revos number 2 guy plus several officers, and the Strawhats plus Riku family and Kyros will be faster. But it makes him look idiotic. He gives the royal family to slaughter to Doflamingo? What logic is that? What does he think how it goes on from there? 2: If he had done his homework he should how strong some of those 12 people plus associates are. He can take down everybody in the Dofla Family except the 10 main guys with one stroke or haki or something. For me, he goes against his character and acts short sighted. His first misstep from POV.
His only targets are Law and the Strawhats, please read the chapter carefully before calling a character idiotic.
-
@.access:
I had a question?
Anyways, I am just saying Fujitora has to be stupid to not realize Doflamingo is the one behind the civilian attacks if you take into account everything Doffy said in this chapter. The fact he was not around 10 years ago just means he possibly will not relate this to the Riku's incident like the citizens did.
How Fujitora should act based on that is another matter. I am not saying he should or shouldn't attack Doflamingo, whatever way he goes I am pretty sure Oda will manage to give him a reasonable explanation.I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. But I personally want Fujitora to do something that makes me root for him.
-
I just thought, maybe Fuji isn't looking for taking down Luffy and Law, but allying with them. His troops could hold down the soldiers and pirates while he, Luffy and Law go after Doflamingo. (Tough he'll probably somehow get interrupted and has to leave him to the duo.)
-
Best chapter.
-
Has Fujitora has been portrayed thus far as anything but moraly sound man? No? Then bloody hell, he should act like it.
Or are you arguing he was evil all along?
No mate, I was just referring to the fact that all you talk about is Marines, regardless of what happens in the chapters. It was just some banter, forget about it.
Issho doesn't strike me as evil though. But then again with Sakazuki being the Fleet Admiral my standards as to what constitute evil are very high! Here's to hoping he has a bigger role to play in this arc, I want to see the extent of his abilities. An Admiral fighting is a welcome sight as well!
-
Time for Franky to strike the factory. I wonder if lasers can melt Kairoseki.
-
Time for Franky to strike the factory. I wonder if lasers can melt Kairoseki.
That factory will have to be taken down from the inside. They will need the key or maybe Franky's laser can blast the door and Trebol with Diamante need to go down. No one is destroying any factory until those two are down.

I thought about that, but on second thought it seemed ilogical: Why would an admiral "need" to ally himself with the pirates? It makes no sense.
No, this time Fujitora is actually "turning a blind eye" and not going for Dofla. However he does not take action againts the Riku family so it's complicated. -
Pretty good chapter, man I missed you One Piece! Please no more breaks for a while
LOL Usopp, this arc has been one big nightmare to him.
I love Luffy, he could care less about these big powerful guy's being after him, your awesome!
I'm surprised that he gave Luffy three stars, really? After watching the events in the War you'd think he'd give Luffy at least four stars, hey'll regret it latter on I'm sureI wonder if for a bit will be getting a Luffy / Zoro / Law V.S Dof fight?
Is Sanji really not worthy of a Star?
-
Ussop 5 stars haha, it gets more and more cringeworthy.
-

That is actually a pretty solid idia, his lasers was always WAY overpowered, so maybe they have a chance to blast holes in kairoseki.

Actually, for once i think Luffy was paying attention to what Law said, he didn't say "I don't care" he said "we will talk about it later", to me it seems something stragefor Luffy to say, so maybe something did sink to his head.
Also does it matter if he have 3 or 4 stars? Any way eople will try killing him, and Sanji isn't even on the island and Dofla knows it. -
I'm counting on that some toys (e.g. Cavendish and Don Chinjao and maybe marines with moral justice) will come to aid Ussop in some moment and that moment will be epic :D
I also strongly believe that there will be a fight between "Worst Generation" and Kaidou ^^ -
Not my favorite chapter of the arc, that much's certain. Still, I don't find it as enraging as most of you. Why? Cause I've made "peace" with two concepts which seem to be the main offenders here: the ungratefulness of the detoified humans and Fuji. I'll get to it right now. This is gonna be long.
This chapter was full of little details that show Oda's obsession with these, and that pretty much elevates this from standard, padded flare into something of a bit more quality. On that front, chapter deserves a second read just to catch the many nuggets/detail in it. I'll get to it soon.
But first, LET'S DO THIS!
According to what I read, Fujitora's not targeting the 12 listed. He seems to be reminding the Marines of their original target so that they don't get distracted, while telling them to calm people down.
What's his next move, though, I'm not sure.
First, this. People seem a bit lost on that. Of course, Fuji means only Law and Luffy. "The Alliance", specifically. Why people jumped to the conclusion that meant "we're gonna take those 12 guys as Dofla ordered!" is beyond me.
Eventually Oda will reveal Fujitora's thoughts. I am keeping my opinion about his character until then.
Yep. And actually, we've already had a good look at his thought-process. He basically despises pirates and wants the Shichibukai system to be gone. Still, we've also seen that he APPARENTLY plays "by the rules", even in a bit too literal at times. There's a conflict within him, and while I'm not sure Oda is doing the best of jobs portraying said conflict, the fact that it exists is beyond all doubt, imho.
@The:
The confusion was due to the Warlord resignation/resignation retraction debacle which Doflamingo pulled through CP0. He was still very much under suspicion due to the events at Punk Hazard; Fujitora says that him being Joker would be serious business, and Doffy asks him to provide proof (how on earth they did't have any proof after Punk Hazard is beyond me).
Now, its not a question of suspicion anymore. Fujitoras groups are first hand witnesses to Doflamingo comitting an offense to the law of ASTRONOMICAL proportions. Marines are being used to murder innocents. Theres no wriggle room left for Doffy, no misinformed reports or retractable statements. Saying Doffy should be protected because of that scene is like saying that if a druglord avoided being convicted because of insuficcient/tampered evidence, he'd ALSO be safe to just go shoot off someones head in front of a police officer directly afterwards.
As with my previous answer, there's something else going on. You see, you can always count on what other characters say in these situations to see if we're meant to take everything at face value or if there's something else going on. We all thought "Fuji, after Doffy, NOW!". Oda, then, used Bastille to basically show that in comic form "What, we're not going after Doffy?", which means, "isn't that the logical thing to do?". That was said by a marine vice admiral. That means, not going after Doffy is NOT what they should be doing, and that also means Fuji has some form of reason for not doing so. Dumb reason? Legit reason? We don't know. And I know I won't hold my breath expecting something really deep or reasonable enough, but the thing is, we're NOT supposed to read that scene and think "well, of course he's not going after Doffy!", but the opposite.
Bottom line: it's intentional.
It strikes me that Fujitora's actions are all meant to convey the weaknesses of his 'blind justice' philosophy. In one instance he is prepared to let Luffy and pals go back at the Casino and then on Greenbit he'd have let Law and the SH's go had Law referred to them as 'subordinates'. He knew Law would be lying but still gave that 'out' anyway, as long as the rules are followed.
Fuji's justice is blind, formal justice that is almost criminal in its slow application and insistence on rules as opposed to the spirit of justice. Saving the citizens by arresting Dofla would be the actions of someone like Aokiji (after much prodding). Going after the SHs first before dealing with Doflamingo is cosistent with Fujitora's theme
And that, I think, is the core of it all with Fujitora's character. Still, I DO think Fuji has a huge "spirit of justice", just. . .he still doesn't know where he exactly stands? Maybe because he's still a noob? Cause the Reverie is coming and doesn't want to make a step in the wrong direction? Cause Akainu, his absolute boss (and who seems to be in good terms with?), has his hands tied? We still don't know. Thing is, he goes absolutely by the rules ("they're your underlings? WHITE. you're in an alliance? BLACK"), but has a deep justice sense (top priority: civilians).
And the man still thinks this will be okay. Unless he's got some ridiculous goodwill in the upper ranks of the World Government or Tenryuubito, he's toast. And that, without any signs of panic or barking mad psychopathy from the man, makes this whole plot dumb.
Yeah, but this is basically a situation where North Korea is cautious about angering China by nuking only South Korean cities that the Chinese don't like. Without realizing that the US and the UN won't be very pleased with the entire situation.
I am not at all convinced that he's got so much clout he can just sweep a genocide, whether complete or not, under the rug. Unless you're saying that Akainu's new Marines and Gorousei's WG would not care, but I'm not quite sure that that would be the case either.
And the thing is. . .we're so far led to belive that, yes, Dofla has INSANE influence on the WG. He movilized CP0 just to put a stunt, and that went below frigging Supremacist Commander Sakazuki's radar, who had to ask frigging Five Elder Stars what the hell was going on, and what was the line of action to take. I don't think we've ever been supposed to think "this Dofla guy might have a contact or two on the WG, but if he goes out of his way they'll bust his ass". Its been implied to be something much, much deeper. Now, for the disappointed OP fans like you or The Daz, I'll say the same I told him: what it all comes down to in the end might not even be convincing in the slightest, and you'll probably have all the rights in the world to be angry and the whole thing. BUT, I do think, right now, everything points towards Dofla being even more of a deal of what we thought.
–------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pretty long, I know.
Still, as an additional fact, you shouldn't forget that we haven't been warned once, nor twice, but (at least) three times since the arc started that top priority was always Law and Luffy. We all know from even before the TS that Akainu is deadset on murdering Luffy for his bloodline. Even when all the crazy stuff was brought up during the Marine HQ meeting, what was Akainu's focus? That's right, Luffy and Law, not Doffy. And the page that's been referenced like 5 times throughout the thread makes it clear that Fuji was gonna support Doffy and go after Luffy. (Also, considering we know how he would act since that chapter, almost 10 chapters ago, maybe that was the time to get mad at it, not. . .now? Acting like it's a. . .surprise?).
Next post, little details. Or maybe not. Who knows?
-
@Light:

It's pretty stupid i guess, but he did say to him that he will not "see" anything on the island. However i don't understand how can he idly watch civilians get killed and still don't go for DD.
-
This chapter felt like some parts were cut off or not translated. I will wait for Tobi's release to decide. It seems Oda is just flying through things while dedicating panels to events that aren't important.
-
So the few people I don't remember telling me how Law only did this to take down Doflamingo? Would you mind opening the door and going through the walk of shame? Who was it again?
-
yeah. I don't get why the marines are not going after DD…...
-
DD is a Celestial Dragon, we know this by now, so Fuji, under orders from Akainu, cannot do anything against him… he can only continue his mission, which was to capture the SH's and Law...
And people saying Croc got ripped from his title for less.... Croc was actually planning on using Pluton and all that Utopia stuff which was also going against the WG, which DoFla isn't doing... he's massacring his own people, which as a King he can do, no one can tell him what to do if he's King of the country, a shishibukai and a CD
-
Smoker needed permission from the WG/Marine higher ups to revoke Croc's title which he then gave to Tashigi and she took his title away. Fugitora already had permission to take any action against the SH alliance (meaning Law and the revoking of his title). As for Doflamingo's title Akainu needed to go see what the hell was up with the fake news blast so Fugitora was waiting to hear from Akainu before he took action. Even he knows that Dof's situation is different than the rest of the Shichibukai
-
I thought about that, but on second thought it seemed ilogical: Why would an admiral "need" to ally himself with the pirates? It makes no sense.
No, this time Fujitora is actually "turning a blind eye" and not going for Dofla. However he does not take action againts the Riku family so it's complicated. This reminded me of the most obvious thought I had when Fujitora was introduced. If Fujitora's justice is "Blind Justice" that would mean he's neutral. Blind towards bias, prejudice and persuasion. No matter who you are, your status, whether you're rich or poor, justice is blind to all that and is equal to all. Justice is not deaf either, staying silent and listens to both sides until the end so if that's true, Doflamingo is screwed once Fujitora reaches a "verdict". But it would also means that Fujitora doesn't favor the Straw Hats or anyone's side, remaining impartial.
-

You do realize that the Marine's job is to protect the people, right?
-
@GraphicNature:
Cavendish/Hakuba saved Franky, look at the scene….
Smoke everywhere, tons of people lying on the ground defeated, and Franky disappears in a split second….Hakuba is the only on fast enough to pull something like that off...
Good catch, smells like cabbage for sure.

It's not like the Marines haven't stood by and allowed civillians to be killed before. As ruler of Dressrosa Dofla can do what he wants to his citizens as long as he's not breaking an agreement with the WG. No matter how repugnant Isshou finds this he has his orders and his duty.
My guess is his reasoning is the sooner he captures Luffy and company then the sooner Dofla will stop his tantrum. And if he doesn't then Fujitora will be completely justified in taking him down. -
Fujitora's line about the Reverie should be a dead giveaway that Doula's Warlord situation is way more complex than, say, Law and Crocodile. It's something beyond an Admiral's scope of authority.
Not to mention Bastille's reaction. Fuji obviously knows something that we don't.
-
You do realize that the Marine's job is to protect the people, right?
A Marine's job is to follow the orders of the World Goverment.

Former CD, not anymore.

-
Damn It fuji, I know you have a gambling addiction, but that doesn't mean you can go off capturing Stars for money!
WORK COMES FIRST.
-
Good catch, smells like cabbage for sure.
Those were aftermath of Franky rampaging earlier. Cavendish can't control Hakuba.
-
Great! This kind of Chapter is one of these which I like the most in this Manga.
Some unexpected occasions, a lot of exploratory conversations, a Luffy who dont give a f*** on everything again and, the most important thing, FUN.
Hmm, does Luffy have a reason for not unchaining Law? -
And as I said, It doesn't matter if we like the way Fuji is dealing with the situation or not, He's not contradicting himself, he's just taking a different route that most of us expected, sure there are some blank spots that need to be clarified, but It's not like he's out of character or anything right now. I dont's understand why some of you are so outraged
-
Surely the Marines in Dressrosa know about DD been a broker by now, he did have Marines and WG guys slaving away in his factory that's got to breaking his agreement no.
Probably is. And if the relevant authorities got hold of that information they might completely change Fujitora's orders. But that's not going to happen with birdcage so he:s prepared, or forced, to let this play out. I wouldn't be surprised if CP0 have the authority to make that change and will become involved before that long (storywise. The next 10 chapters may only cover a couple of hours in relative time).
-
Usopp finally gets the attention he deserves.
-
I view the situation as Fujitora wanting Doffy to receive his just punishment once this is all over. Why it has to happen at the costs of the civilians' lives is something I have yet to understand. But that should be dealt with sooner or later.
Personally I'm not too thrilled about the whole hunting game. It seems somewhat random and unnecessary. The whole idea's creative, true, but still not to my liking.
-
Oda must have something else planned for Fuji, just having him in the background like this is laughable
-
Fujitora is and will be the major wildcard here.
In the panel where Law explains his old plan of bringing down Kaido.
First of all congrats to all the people calling what his plan was before he revealed it though I think that was pretty clear from the beginning. :ninja:
Furthermore that makes me think thaz Kaido will show up on the end of the arc if Luffy and co get defeated.Anyway I laughed out loud when I saw Usopp's bounty, that shit was hilarious.
-
You do realize that the Marine's job is to protect the people, right?
Tell that to the marines that were based on Marineford who knew about, but did nothing, the slave auctions on SA.
-
Like many, I also don't get Fujitora's decision. I don't get why Donflamingo has this much immunity? Yeah he's a noble but he has had a bounty on him once. Connections with CP0? (Wonder when they'll play a part in this). Or Fujitora may just be a disappointment for an admiral. It could be that the post-reverie "shift" Fujitora was talking about hints to him predicting that Donflamingo isn't going to last in power much longer (wants to remove Shichibukai). On that basis right now he'd want to capture Luffy, Law, Sabo etc first, as they are always on the move so much harder to catch. Let's not forget the the attention Luffy got during the war. Luffy being a D. is a threat to the WG, his haoshoku haki must have scared the shit out of them. They know Luffy has the potential to become a major enemy to their "justice", so getting Luffy right now as he's trapped may be the smarter move for the WG at this point in time.
But I still think Fujitora needs to have a word with himself and sort this shit out.
-

Luffy won't get defeated. He will pummel Mingo.
-
@The:
Hey now I'm just trying to explain what Fujitora has done but to compare all of this to a simplicity of a pet drowning in a pool aye?
Fujitora is now on a exclusive group of knowing Doffy has connections to the World Nobles. He knows that some of his actions may lead him to consequences that won't be good for his two goals of abolishing the Shichibukai system, the safety of all people on Dress Rosa. Frankly I am having a hard time, trying to explain his actions, but the sure thing is, he has a plan.
We're talking about LIFES here. Citizens killing around, lifes, a pet is my metaphor to life(unless you don't count pets as living things). So will you go immediately to save a life, or beating around the bush doing pretty much nothing until you finally go to the source of the problem?
Please don't be denial here, if you say yeah dancing around with citizens is better than killing DD straight off, then okay, your logic is beyond me.
