@Galaxy:
And isn't it Chinjao?
That's my personal romanization as his namesake is the Chinese word for a type of pepper.
-
Is the justiv.tv link broken or is it just me?
-
That justin tv guy's channel is gone for me, says it got closed or something.
ustream works tho, but the sound quality is absolutely terrible…..oh well.

Wish I could, but the 2chan anime board shut down, and I don't think there's an alternative yet.
-
Ending was… holy shit.
The rest was handled pretty nicely too. Plus points for Jean Ango's giant weapon ball and Chinjao rebounding the weapons back at him (which were not in the manga).
-
Fantastic episode, I loved from start to finish. Well done this week, Toei.
-
am I the only one who didn't like the ending?
It strangely lacked impact when sai and hideo were "pushed" aside, while instead being too damn flashy with the haoshoku clash -
Damn,Comcast fucking up at the most important half hour of Saturday. Were the key points done well?
Aka Funk Bros,Sai v Video,Jean,Luffy v Chinjao and etc.
Were they OK or actually good? -

Sai and Ideo were just in the way of the main show. They get shoved aside accordingly, with little fanfare.

The stream was laggy as hell but everything was handled beautifully, especially the Haki clash, from what I saw. The song before the clash was amazing. I think it's a new track.

Wel in the manga both luffy's kick and chinjao punch had proper "weight".
it was not about just pushing them aside liek it seems in the scene,it was about destroying them without even trying..kinda like what zoro and luffy did with mr 5 and miss valentine -

That exactly what I was expecting before I saw this episode, but they just kinda went right past it.
That said, the Haki clash, especially the music, was amazing.
-
Oh my god! This episode was handled very well; the animation was consistantly awesome throughout, and that ending! That bloody ending left me speechless!
-
HOLY CRAP THAT ENDING! It was a very good episode, it's been a while since the anime has gotten me excited. Hope next week's episode can be like this one.
-
Awesome scene at the end, I can't help but fangasm . The whole episode was awesome really!
-
Awesome episode. Definitely better than Fujitora's first meteor episode (ep. 643). So pumped for the next one.
-
This might sound silly, but didnt they clash with their right hands in the manga? Why left hands now?
-
Just finnished the episode really enjoyed it espeashally the ending clash with Don Chinjo.
This was probably pointed out before but the annoncers den-den mushi looked like it had doflamingo’s coat
-
Damn, they really did the Haki clash justice. That was amazing.
-
Jean was great; it's such a shame that he gets taken out like a punk.
What a fantastic episode. Kudos to the one in charge of placing the music, as I'd never thought I'd hear that Movie 10 track from the beginning in the anime. That clash at the end man… While I found that fight rather lackluster in the manga for all it was hyped, if the anime goes all balls-out crazy like they did here it'll be more than redeemed.
So, let's see if next week we can't coax another good episode out of Deguchi.
-
Excellent episode. Looks like Toei really had a new year's resolution to not muck up Dressrosa.
That ending…especially after Diamante's comments...the music...the epic golden light shining on Luffy. Wow...I daresay the anime actually surpassed the manga for this chapter's content.
ps: Loved Jean Ango's moe eyes lol
-
wow that ending! from luffy charging up to the announcer speech at the end. despite that weird thundery effect, was awesome!
-
Oh man, what an amazing episode!
-
The soundtrack for this arc is amazing. It feels like I'm hearing a new track in every episode.
-
Someone should gif that last scene
-
At last scene with that soundtrack ,
i heard inside myself a high scream :ninja: -
Am I the only one who thought this episode hasn't been on par with the other great Dressrosa episodes?
Jean throwing weapons at Luffy was a bit drawn out. The final clash while visually great somehow didn't have the same impact I got from watching Luffy avenge Ucy by punching the giant.
I liked all else: more filler with Nami weathering and hiding, and sai vs. funk
-
Pretty great moments throughout. Sai was made look awesome, and the Jean Ango eyes were also amazing.
And then, of course, the ending. What did it for me was the atmosphere established from Luffy's decision to just fight him, and then from Diamante's comment. I did find it a bit absurd that the other fighters were sent whirling around in a tornado of haki.
I also hope that wine didn't fall on Cavendish's shirt. Wine stains are a bitch. -
The ending made the episode worth it. I actually rewinded to watch it again.Thats something I haven't done in a while in a OP episode.
-
Good episode. Jean Ango's short skirmish with Luffy turned to be more hilarious than I expected and the ending haki clash was fangasmic. I didn't like the absolute lack of impact when Ideo and Sai were knocked aside, though; I preferred the manga version.
-
Sai vs Funk Brothers was underwhelming imo. But it was still cool. I thought Hasshouken Kenpo were Impacts. It's weird how it's animated. Last scene was way too flashy and illogical for the OPverse.Reactions and the loosing conscious looked awesome.
-
Ideo and Sai pushing aside wasn't done as cool as it was in manga in my opinion
Also there was too much focus on funk brothers with all those flashbacks etc, was kinda boring and too long.
Other than that it was cool episode.

Yeah they did. Kinda weird they changed it lol.
-
Jean Ango puppy face XD
Amazing episode 10/10 ! I hope Deguchi can keep up next week…or not ! -
wtf did i just watch
best episode in the new world by far !!
that godlike ending scene tho , the music , the art every thing was on a whole new level in that scene
it took the manga hype and made it several times better .. great episode -
Episode was very good… but for my taste the clash at the end has been a bit too "flashy"... if they start something like that already I really don't want to see what they will make at the end fights.

i think it was meant to be that way even in the manga there was a ridiculous amount of sparks (black and white sparks)
we've never seen that in any fight before , it's a special effect for the "haki" clash
they sure exaggerated it a lil but it was fine for me as long as it stays special!
-
This episode was FANTASTIC, simply fantastic. No words, you nailed it here Toei.

Toei has a tendency to mirror shots for no immediately apparent reason… I mean, really, I literally see absolutely zero point in them doing so. It doesn't add anything, it doesn't make anything better nor worse, it's just... random.
That aside, fuck yeah ending. Also I love how completely nonchalant Luffy is while dodging Jean's swords. Just, y'know, yeah, this dude's throwing weapons at me. Whatever. So how's Iva-chan holding up, I wonder?
-
I don't know. I kind of felt this episode wasn't very eventful and while I liked the epicness of last last few minutes the episode was treading into Dragonball Z territory in terms of context.
-
Episode was ok.The glorified fist bump has too many flashy effects.I thought they detonated a nuclear bomb there. Also C Block = Unending Fodder Gladiators.
Also i wish they focused on only 1 part of the crew.Show that Nami and Co gets attacked just before C Block Starts.Show us complete C block and then go back to Nami and show us what they do there in a single episode instead of 239384 parts like in the manga. -
That was one hell of an episode.
Not perfect (Jean was a bit drawn out, lack of impact for Ideo and Sai getting knocked out and the ending being a bit too flashy) but damn if I didn't get pumped during the end. I love the fact that Toei has managed to play Chinjao to really be a legendary pirate - in the manga he was honestly a bit lacking.
This has always been one of my favorite parts with the anime - it makes me love characters I normally wouldn't by just reading the manga (Jean is a prime example).
Non-DF fighters getting some spotlight is always a good thing as well, and this block is full of them! Really hope we'll see more guys with these kinds of powers in the future instead of "devil fruit X".
So 10/10, loved it Toei good job!
