Now if Luffy would take up swordsmanship, his opponents wouldn't last seconds w/o getting chopped to pieces. combining any of luffy's sig. moves w/ a sword would be deadly and exiting to watch.

Take example o' Luffy's fight with Arlong. He picks up 2 o' Hatchi's cutlass and swin's them randomly, which Arlong points out. And Luffy says "That's starboard, I can't use cutlass; I can't…" And so on. But aye, with trainin', he can be kickass like you said.

Luffy will always punch and kick. Zoro takes care of the swordsmanship. That'd be cool if he used Zoro's swords sometime though.

Hah, I don't think Luffy would quite have the discipline to become a truly skilled swordsman. I think he's more than content to just smash & hit jerks with his fists.

I dunno about swords but Luffy will defintely get an upgrade soon. Maybe..brass knuckles or something. Sanji has got an upgrade with the knives, Zoro with the new blades, Usopp with the goggles,dials, and the SOgeking, Nami has gotten the clima tact plus clima tact with dials. Most ppl have gotten power upgrades and things by now, so Luffy is defintely gonna get one soon.
Also, it's a children's comic from Japan.

I was always thinking of something along the lines of Buggy's kunai. I'd enjoy seeing a Gomu Gomu no Storm with knives on the end of his fists.

I think the point of Luffy is he doesn't get upgrades, he just finds more strenght of will.

If Luffy gets a upgrade it will be a new move based in something he saw but this already happened in the present arc remember "gomu gomu no ally robo" based almost for sure in Franky cyborg

Examples are Final Fantasy's Monk class (as seen from FFT and FFV), Zylo from Shining Force, Peter/Gerhalt/Kiwi/etc. from Shining Force II and bullions of others which I cannot think of right now.Luffy belongs to this category of characters. :huh:
