Now, I know alot of people are agains't this, and its way over hyped, but Tetsuya Nomura, one of the makers of FF7. Said some intresting info in this interview. http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3143672&did=2 I myself, think be cool to see a remake, but I am happy with AC for now.
Final Fantasy 7: Remake
-

YAh it would be nice to see another remake of FFVII, but I'm sure a lot of people are going to be against it, since they probably prefer others, namely VI and this whole year is all about VII and maybe XII next year. So lets just stick with AC and the up coming Dirge of Cerebus. But the graphics would be so awesome if they do that. All AC graphics and maybe even better.
-
No. Just no. There are enough Final Fantasy 7 related products to last me for the rest of my life. There's the original game, there's the anime, there's the cellphone game with the Turks, there's Advent Children, and there's Dirge of Cerebus. Enough is enough.
And I bet if they are going to do a remake, three things will happen.
1. The Matrix effects will be throughly abused.
2. All of the plotholes Advent Children made will be fixed.
3. Fanboys and girls will bitch even more about relationships and how "HAWT" and/or awesome pretty boy Sephy is.Just no more.

haha, well, i like it to get remade… i am just a ff nut period though, i want all ff games remade, lmao
-
LOL the problem with the remakes is that it will be on ps3 which is next year, and you know that Square-Enix takes forever to make their games, namely XII (God why isn't it out yet!) So yah lets just stick with what we have. Although I would prefer a remake of VIII though.
-
I pretty much had my dose of Final fantasy 7 also. So many merchandise. They could be working on something else instead of the same thing but from a different angle.
If they really want to make a remake of something, I say they should make a remake of Radical Dreamers. I always wanted to play that game but I never found a translated ROM.
It's like they're trying to make Final Fantasy the "dbz" of role playing games. If it isn't already.
EDIT: Also, I'm pretty surprised they did a game for Vincent (who is optional) instead of making a game for Red XIII, I mean I always saw him as the cooler non-optional one.
-
Hey, DBZ is one of my Fav animes, lmao…. I am not much of a critic i guess, haha.

I didn't mean it in a way that DBZ was bad. I mean I watched every (well not every ) episode of it and I don't see what the whole big "it's horrible" deal is.
But what I meant is that DBZ was always carried on. Seeing new dragon ball series after the Z started to get annoying. I mean something can be truly good when it ends. Or else it feels like they are sucking everything out of a dead horse.
I mean, face it. Final fantasy is old. It's a chapter of rpg history, but not the history of rpgs. It doesn't need over advertising. Well, not when they could continue some of their other series. Or just remake some of their snes games first.
-
I've got to agree with Zio for some part. A remake would be nice (and I'd probably go and get it since FFVII is one of my favourite games), but there's already a lot of FFVII out there. If it was perhaps just the original FFVII, AC, and a remake, I'd be good. I haven't seen all of AC yet btw, but it looks great from what I saw so far.
Anyways, so, what am I trying to say….. A remake would be nice, but I wouldn't want them to put it on the top of their priority lists. For me, it's a lot more of a want than a need. I've still got to crack open Guild Wars!!!
EDIT: Okay, so I think what I mean (I'm never clear when I say things it seems) is that if it comes out, it comes out and I'd consider getting it (probably would). If it doesn't, too bad.

I am so freaking sick of Final Fantasy VII. Honestly, the fact that more than half of Square's current projects are FFVII side stories tells me that all their talent has truly gone. Former great FF teams have moved on to make Nautilis and Monolithsoft, Creators of Shadow Hearts and Xenosaga respectively, two series I'd much rather play new games in over a Final Fantasy VII sequel any day, and even Sakaguchi himself has moved on to form Mistwalker, which looks to be producing the games which will get me to buy an X360. Final FAntasy XII only intrigues me because they're finally moving away from the ATB once and for all (the only games to ever do ATB RIGHT were Chrono Trigger and sadly FFX-2.) The only other Square project in the works that truly interests me nowadays is KHII, and that interests me more than all the FF things combined. If they would say SOMETHING about World of Mana, I might be happy…
I wish Square would move on, show that they still have talented game designers and make something NEW. I'm sick of talk of remakes, direct sequels and of final fantasy in general.
-
I am the complete oppsite lol. Though I do like all those others rpg you mentioned, especially Xenosaga, great games.
-
Boo-Urns.
Not needed. THIS is why FFXII hasn't come out yet. Fuck.
I'd be interested to see a remake of IV or VI though. Making the transition from sprite to Hi-Res would be something.
-
FF7's graphics were so… crappy, it's just as big of a leap as redoing FF6 or FF4 would be... (and 4 wasn't that great anyway.)
The fact is, FF6 and FF7 are the two top games of FF (as far as fanbase,) so... They just chose 7. Big whoop. You know you'll buy it anyway.
-
I don't really care much for Crisis Core or Dirge of Cerberus, I wanna play that Turks game.
About the FFVII remake- It might not be for a few years but I think this will definitely happen because since the merger with Enix, there have been nothing but sequels, prequels etc. Either the quality of the FF games will go down (as some of the FF mainplayers have resigned), or they'll create something revolutionary, I dunno, but you have to admit FFXII doesn't seem like something to get hyped up about. If FFXII and the following FF's don't perform as well as its predecessors, S-E will probably rely on the popularity of the good FF games.
Personally, I'd like to see a remake of FFVII, just because the original is a bit dated in technology and while that's part of its charm, it would be awesome to see it with better music graphics etc. I know that's what we get with Advent Children, but to me that was just an eye candy movie with a weak story. My initial reaction when I finished it was "why did they bother with this? They should've remade the game."
Downside of a possible remake: I somehow get the feeling they'll remove the "infiltration into Don Corneo's mansion" because of…well you know.
EDIT: I second a FFVI remake!
-
Dirge of Cerberus will surely be a cheap copy of Devil May Cry. The Turks game, yeah, but we will probaly never see it here in the west. XD But it looks cool. And is it only me who think they are making a too big thing out of Cloud/Zack/Sephis background? Yeah, it was cool, and sure, I didn't get everything about it, but the most at least. There is NO need for three more storys about it - Crisis Core, Before Crisis and Last Order. It wasn't that complicated…
Is't only me who think FFXII will rock? Seriously, it looks like FFX but with more war. :P Or something.
I would like to see a remake of FFIX.
-
Like I said, SE has gone down the hill with prequales and squales and remakes. When will SE make new RPG that can be better then Final Fantasy?
-
…..I'm one of those who say "bring on the FFVII."
-
@joekido:

The coming Kingdom hearts games, it will surely come more after the second one.
-
Doubt so, unless there are more mysteries in KH2, there will not be any sequels.
-
I would seriously dry-bone Nomura for a remake of FFVII, IMO it'd be the perfect ending to the compilation of FFVII. I agree that there is too much FFVII things already, but a remake is what some fans have desired for years second to a full sequel.
-
As soon as they made a remake of FF9, give me a call. That was THE FF.
-
That interviewer made an amatuerish error. Nomura basically said it is impossible to think about right now and the interviewer goes "You just started a fire."
WHAT!??? How did he start a fire? That's the same statement we've heard for years. Now we've gotta hear exaggerated fanboy hallucinations for years to come.
-

I think there would be a FFX-3 before a FFIX-2. :/
-
Kingdom hearts is the only thing ff VII related I've bought/tried outside ff VII itself, and I'd like to keep it that way. I, personally, think the ff VII graphics were unique and great (with Characters a lot better and more expressive than the pseudo-human barbie dolls of ff VIII), and I greatly prefer the anime-style to the ultra realistic AC style.
Besides, I don't mind not having voices in my rpg's, and a remake'd propably be with a fighting system like Star Ocean or FF XII, which I am greatly resentful of. I have absolutely nothing against ATB, and believe RPG makers could learn a thing or three from the Grandia series.
-
I think there would be a FFX-3 before a FFIX-2. :/
And knowing Square's latest habit of milking it for all it's worth, i wouldn't be surprised.
-
FFX-3 would be stupid. They just reused all the stuff from the first one for the second, it was a good game it was just too much the same. Kind of like an expansion pack (but not really).
-
How about a new Einhander? Bushido Blade perhaps? Parasite Eve? Valkyrie Profile? 7th Saga?
No? Well you can go to hell Squenix. I have officially lost faith in you. -
Well I agree with Adam and Morgan, It was merely the opening cutscene redid with PS3 graphics to show its power.
-
I think this would be awesome but I like the graphics it has now too. It would be cool to see it though, it would probabley change alot of things many fans would be upset about.
-
I think if they remake ff7 it would be just a big gimic. I mean come on Its the same game except preatyr. I mean ff7 wasent even the best. Just cause it was the first to go 3d doesent mean that it was the best. I enjoyed ff3,6, and 9 a-lot more than ff7 because the story was better. If you want to wast 50$ on a game thats already out fine by me, Im spending it on kingdom hearts 2
-
I argee ff6 had a good story, real close to ff7, i hated ff9 story though, its one of my least fav ff. and The bad guy just annoyed me, a bikini wearing…..yeah...sorry...nothing against tranvestites, or anything...and the whole Kuja, and Zidane stroy reminded me of the whole clone story from ff7...
