It's been a while since I've first heard about Kindle (or e-books in general). I'm very interested in those, since I want to read some books which aren't available here in my country (or at least not in the original language).
Easiest solution is buying them off Amazon or other similar places, which, however, sometimes cost much. It's not the book itself, but the horrendous shipping/handling price (it goes up to five times the book's value). I have to use this method for some books (for example my 1996 edition Swedish textbook), but I'd like to not have to pay so much just so the 2 dollar book can get here.
As far as I understand, e-books tend to be equal the price or cheaper than "real" ones, and you don't even need shipping for those. Furthermore, it's practical, comfortable, suited for long journeys or even just passing the time before a doctor's appointment.
So what do you think? Is Kindle (or whatever e-book readers are out there) worth their price?
I've also read about an app (I think) on tablet computers that makes it possible to read kindle e-books there. Would a tablet be more cost effective if I were to choose that? (Wi-fi/internet connection would certainly be nice, but as far as my knowledge goes, kindle has that as well).
