I always kind of supported the idea that the D. was inherit by bloodlines.
This info makes me stop for a second and think about the "will" under other possible perspectives.

The thing with the Databook is that someone else writes it after Oda gives them info and mind you, it's general info. They probably just write it based on current events in the manga so they have no way of knowing what's going to happen. And specifically for Sabo, it would be important for Oda to keep it a secret until the right time (which, apparently, is right now) for it to have impact in the story. Giving away such a big detail even through a small note pointing out Dragon saved him when it wasn't immediately clear would ruin the surprise. I can't speak for what exactly is written in the databook but my assumption is that they wrote that he was presumed to be dead and it wasn't translated properly. In the SBS Oda never stated it either way, he just said it's up to you to decide. He's a prominent member of the final villain's crew. He may be hanging back right now, but Burgess is going to be one of the biggest characters in the series come the end.
Luffy and Sabo can still inherit Ace's will. It's not bound to his fruit. It would be good for Luffy to realise that. It's about carrying on Ace's ideals and shiz.
By the time Burgess becomes relevant again, there will be no confrontation between him and Luffy as the latter will be busy with Teach. I would agree with you if Teach was the one using the Mera Mera and Burgess was just there to obtain it for him, though, but I find that unlikely.
And Sabo's motivation seems to be bigger than Luffy. He wants the Mera Mera to make the Revolutionaries stronger or at least to redeem himself from being unable to save Ace. Luffy just wanted to keep the fruit as a memento.

If they did it deliberately, it was to not spoil the readers. If it was unintended, they didn't understand the panel with Iva commenting on the severely injured person.
I wonder how this chapter would have read to somebody who didn't already know that Sabo and Koala were Revolutionaries.

I'm truly suprised to see that there was ANY doubt whatsoever about it being Sabo in this thread.

It's not really about Burgess in the grand scheme of things though. Luffy was angry at the idea of ANY member of the BB's obtaining the mera mera, not just Teach himself. Teach didn't kill Ace himself, but Luffy still blames him as part of Ace's death and dislikes him as a result.
Similarly, Teach may not use the fruit himself, but orchestrating one of his crew members to obtain and bastardise the powers Luffy's beloved brother formerly held is going to have a similar reaction. Luffy will blame Teach and it will escalate their rivalry.
I think this will tie into a Jinbei Vs. Burgess match up at the end of the series. Since Jinbei will be the other SH who was close to Ace, and formerly fought against the very same mera mera powers when Ace had them.

Why would Oda make a spoiler of his own manga in a Data Book? Data books have info according to what we know in the manga. Otherwise we would already know everything written on the Poneglyphs because they've been included in some Data Books..

If you think of their relationship and everything Oda has stated about their 'brotherhood', they've always been like that. All those times Sabo fought against Luffy and beat him he mocked at him. For me, it is more like something in their way of being than in each one's objectives. Anyway, Luffy was about to leave the Colosseum under the statement of "My nakama's lives are more important than the fruit", so he wouldn't have got it anyway. Maybe Sabo already ate a fruit. We don't know yet.

For all we know Sabo could have his own Devil's Fruit ability. Protecting the mera mera no mi and not letting it get into the wrong hands was probably what he was talking about. He was referring to his will that is imbedded into the devils fruit. Too many people are assuming that Sabo is just going to use it for himself.

I keep wondering how Oda keeps giving chapter after chapter maintaining the tempo of the series intact. The last chapter was considered as the best for this year by many including me, but this chapter takes it up a notch and makes it even better than the previous one. Bravo Oda, Bravo!
I mean how does he top a chapter which showed a zoro vs fujitora, rest of the crew on the ship encountering a big mom's singing ship. I am at loss for words to even express more about this chapter.
i don't know how Oda is going to take these clusterfuck( in a good way of course) chapters and tie the loose ends finally. Only thing i can hope for now is Oda maintaining his health condition well and give us this masterpiece of a manga at his own pace.
