Currently catching up with the manga, the Claw arc quickly bumped Reigen up to my favorite character in the series.
Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...

Hope you guys enjoyed your slice of life silliness and Mob getting full of himself.
New Chapter's here, and it seems serious business is back in town.
Finally the manga is worth reading again.

I feel that's a bit unfair. The slice of life part of the manga is as important as the psychic battles. And Mob starting to act like he was becoming hot shit was definitely funny.
I honestly thing the chapters since the fight against the President have felt longer than usual mainly because One has been pretty erratic with Mob Psycho's schedule. It hasn't been that long since the last uber battle.

I've never enjoyed slice of life stuff in any form. Whether manga or anime by any author or in any story. It's just not my cup of tea.

Such a pity. Slice of life is the best when well done
-
That opening is a work of art.
One of those rare occasions where the song and animations fits perfectly. Anyone else saying differently is flat out wrong.
-
The anime is sooo gooood. Reigen-senpai is best.
-
-
-
if we ever end up getting a dub, this should be used lol
-
Oh Reigen… the thing u have to do for money...
-
Mob is such a precious cinnamon roll. I just really love the general vibe of this series, it's a different kind of thing from One Punch Man's fun. It's the good kind of series with an high school setting, which I feel I haven't seen for a while.
-
I really love how the low detail drawings from the manga are leaving so much artistic freedom in the anime, as opposed to the ultra detailed Murata's OPM that had the anime much closer to it and less creative with the visuals. I especially love the oil painting technique popping out occasionally and in the ED, if anyone is interested in that, she is the artist behind it
-
I noticed Mob was reading One Punch Man in this week's episode
-
Body Improvement Club let's go!!
-
Watched the first two episodes of this and fell in love. More comedic and goofy than OPM but seems to have a deeper story. I dig it. Debating on reading up on all the comic. ONE is pretty legit.
-
! The first explosion was very well done, but i would've preferred if there was the japanese text saying like "RAGE" all over to give more impact, but it could also be that they're planning to do that for a more meaningful explosion maybe.

But that kinda would make it feel like JoJo.Fight was done well though.

Episode 3…. Oh my god that was AWESOME!!
One of the best early chapters of the manga animated to perfection. And it's just getting started, it's just gonna get better and better as we go, Bones NAILED it.
-
That was great. Maybe Mob's rage explosion should have been flashier but besides that everything was perfect.
-
I expect nothing less from an explosion episode. There's certain scenes that I can't wait to see.
-
He looks so handsome.
-
The fight felt like the Asura Rhino's animation wise, the whole episode was amazing. I'm really glad ONE's adaptations are getting this good of a treatment.
-
That was awesome. I pretty much expected something like this, but it was really well done.
-
I've watched the ep 3-4 times now. Really impressive stuff, and I can't wait for the Teru fight in the coming two weeks! I don't really have much to add to the obvious, but I really really liked how they handled the bad milk. It turned into the best shot of the episode somehow, haha.
For some reason, I always imagined the Dimple cult scene set to this track:
-
I wonder why the anime switched those epic kanji pictures from Mob's explosions to Reigen's special attacks. Maybe they thought they were too camp?
-
Dimple face, they nailed it
-
I'm really liking the anime. I still don't think I'm ready to read it. Omg it's amazing.
-
New chapter:
http://mangafox.me/manga/mob_psycho_100/v09/c096.3/1.htmlThe body improvement club are really badasses
-
Hmmmm…..not a fan of Dimple being the one behind all this, though it seems like it's not just him but the broccoli itself manifested a will of its own and it fused? with Dimple. But still, it was too obvious, and I feel a bit betrayed. I mean, this is real evil stuff.
-
I binge-read this in a few days and it was awesome. Now the waiting begins.
-
Holy goddamn, that episode was amazing. I've read that scene a bunch of times and it was one of my most hyped moments and they blew it out of the park. It had me yelling out loud as if I had never read it before at all. I don't know if any other scene will top it this season, but it has me even more hyped for Mogami, provided we get a season 2.
-
???? completely delivered too.
-
As for the manga discussion:
! I've been rereading bits and I think Dimple's actions here were pretty well foreshadowed. It wasn't just the premise of the business we first saw him at, but he does mention every once in a while that spirits gain power by belief (it comes up in the urban legends arc, for example) and we kept getting hints at the growing belief of the Psycho Helmet Cult. I guess what makes it feel a little unnatural is that it seemed like Dimple had grown as a character. I guess what remains to be seen are his true feelings. I don't want it to end up being something as simple as this was his plan all along (with the broccoli being a catalyst). I think there's something more to Dimple's feelings and intents; maybe he's conflicted, or trying to push Mob in some direction. The framing theme so far has been Mob's search for something he wants to do with his life, so I believe Dimple's thing will tie into that.
-
???% is genuinely one of the best things I have ever seen animated
100/10 right there -
Is it wrong to want ONE's version of OPM animated like this after seeing this episode?
-
Wow….That episode was fantastic. ??? Mob is absolutely freaky. Love it.
-
That episode was amazing. Makes me giddy about what we can expect for future epic scenes/battles.
-
Watched the three first episodes and yes, the animation is top notch.
That said, I think something a tiny bit more laid back would've been just equally good. Right now everything is a bit too hysterical, like they worry the kids won't have the needed attention span to listen to Mob's problems with showing his emotions, and the slice of life elements, which are part of the story and in manga format are perfectly enjoyable. Here it's like "this might get boring, so let's add A TON of movement! Split screen! Cut every 2 seconds! Wait, we haven't shown a super exaggerated facial expressions in 5 seconds, add 2 of them just to be save!".
Again, it's just a way of seeing it. I felt Mob Psycho was a slightly different series, more laid back. Maybe it was One's art? I don't know.
It's still great, of course, but. . .I don't know. Sometimes I just want the scenes to breath a bit more.
-
Ditto with kouch. I like this adaptation but something is a bit off. Take this episode for instance ???% was gorgeous to watch visually but how it was delivered was a bit too rushed and quick. In the manga you could really sit down and contemplate on the emotional tragedy between Mob and Teru (not knowing what was coming) and you bought that this was it and you felt the weight behind the story. It made ???% have way more impact. Here, we went from Mob being strangled to ???% in like three seconds and you barely felt the weight of the event.
Also this may have just been a translation thing but I prefered so much the text "Yeah, right" opposed to "Or so it seemed" because the former seemed to have a satirical element to it as it played against the readers' expectations while the latter just feels like "well yeah but then that happened".
Also Mob 100% Depression didn't really get me much either, it could be the lack of giant text on the screen but I think the camera never calmed down enough to just focus on Mob and the destroyed rubble he was surrounded in to really drive home how depressed he was at his own powerlessness. I think the director of this is just too caught up in giving the series a super, fast kinetic energy with super fluid animation every second when sometimes the best thing is to just slow down and stand still a little and contemplate. Especially since this is a laid, back, low energy series and the constant movement really does not fit it. It's a good adaptation but I'm not feeling it's the best adaptation for this series.
-
Episode 5 was pretty incredible. The craziest thing is that that level of animation is made look so effortless in this series, when most of anime is a fraction as well-animated. Even the tiniest movements and yes, seems like I really like Mob a lot better than the OPM cast at this point.
-
Damn Episode six was good. Less action, more slice of life, but the Body improvement club still brought their A game to every scene, and the Onigawara bits were great. Also, Ritsu's inner Sasuke struggle was great to watch, (especially when you know it's not going to end in a shitty way like Sasuke did).
Great episode, so happy with Bones, hoping they keep up the great work.
EDIT: looking at the comments on kissanime, many thought this episode was really rushed. Personally, I don't remember the manga too well, but the pace felt good. Fast, but good. Can anyone give a recap of things they skipped?
-
Poor Tenga, he really didnt deserve the suffering, considering that he wanted to change.
-
T-thanks Reigen.
-
The anime's been a very enjoyable adaptation. But I mainly want to note that All Off (the band who performs the ED theme, Refrain Boy) was really fun to see live yesterday. And Refrain Boy's full PV has been uploaded (
). Also, I agree with so-hey (the vocalist) on best character in this series; Reigen. -
The soundtrack on this thing has been the best Kenji Kawai has done in a while. His soundtracks have been somewhat samey to me for the last few years, despite being top notch regardless, but this one sounds distinct, yet befitting his pedigree.
The track that tends to play whenever Mob
his power is my favorite so far, I am now unable to read any scene that has Mob going 100% or ???% without this in my head. I also really dig the one that was used in a couple of Teru scenes. -
the last episode was soooooo good.
Reigen is adorable, as always. -
The handshake scene..Bones completely nailed it, Teru looked cool as hell.
-
Don't forget Teru's hair operating at 150% capacity
