I think I'd like a link, at least.

I just read about this today. Is it even out yet?
I'll probably check it out, since I love his art. Reincarnation is also one of my favorite tropes.
-
So, its an adaptation, then.
-
I've read the light novel a few years ago, and it's a great (but short) story. I thought the new Warner Bros. adaptation with Tom Cruise would get a thread first, not the manga.
Edit: oh the movie name got changed. I see it now
-
So after seeing this thread I went out and got the light novel, just finished it, wonderful stuff, when does the manga start?

Sasaki tweeted that this series will run in the English SJ.

This pic came with the news
I think the original looks much better

looking forward to thisā¦.............

So this is what? Groundhog's Day at war?

Is this already the takeshi obata adaptation? Looks nice. I'm also kinda excited for the movie adaptation with tom cruise after watching the trailer.^^ Haven't read the source material so I don't know if the original story is really good or not, but I hope it's going to be entertaining in both this manga and movie adaptations. -
very excited for thisā¦
scared that the movies gonna suck though -
Scans of chapter one are out.
-
-
The main character resembles both Mashiro and Light.

I am a bit disappointed to be honest, nothing we haven't seen so far. The art is good, though.
-
Uh
Otherworldly alien monsters have taken over much of Earth, Japan is the current front line, protagonist is a soldier who experienced death and goes back in time loop until they win?
Gee gosh cough Muvluv cough that sounds insanely familiar cough Alternative cough.
That is like exactly the premise of ML Alternative.! Even the Aliens' purpose on Earth is apparently the same
I went and googled to see if anyone else had the same notion, and sure enough, a LOT.
This PREDATES MuvLuv Alternative, so it's highly likely this was an influence for the game. -
Groundhog Day meets Pacific Rim lol.
-
Reminds me a bit of that movie Source Code. XD

Reminds me a bit of that movie Source Code. XD
But, you should also consider that the original novel was released even before Source Code. XD
-
It wasn't my intention to imply that it plagiarized the movie or something similar to copying it. To me the plot from the movie about a soldier relieving his life until a certain point is very similar to that from the series. Who knows maybe it influenced it to a certain degree but then again, this type of plot is common.

EDIT: http://www.batoto.net/read/_/217203/all-you-need-is-kill_ch1_by_kisu-kissmanga-scans-kisu-kms/1The protagonist looks childish, but the story seems pretty good.

Maaaaaan, I loved it. This premise is awesome.

same here,
any info on how long this series is planned to be?

I mean it resemble in appearance.
-
It wasn't half bad. I love Groundhog Day so I'll give anything resembling it a chance, and the art was as good as expected. I'm probably going to follow it for a couple of weeks to see where it goes.
Nonetheless, I can't not recommend Kisu KMS's translation enough. It is literally the worst scanlation in the universe.
-
I'm intrigued how this manga is actually going to go. The concept of it is rather unoriginal to me, I'll forgive that and the Yagami Light look-a-like for the sake of the art.
-
I would honestly be more excited for a seinen manga drawn by the illustrator of the original novel.
Or better yet, an anime series based directly on the novel. I mean, it was a light novel right ? We need more light novels not set in bad fantasy setting with harem and horny imoutos.
-
Really enjoyed the first chapters. This seems like a really cool format for revealing secrets and plot points. Kinda like in 9 people, 9 hours, 9 doors.
Saw the trailer for the US movie version too and was a little disappointed. I really hope the movie adaptation isn't just an explosion-fest.
Also a question for anyone who has read the light novels. Did Obata design the aliens to look like that or is that the writer's design?

I didn't realize the similarities were there until I looked up Muvluv's story a couple months ago, when people were connecting Shingeki to Muvluv (which Isayama confirmed or something, I remember).

To be honest, AYNIK's light novel predated the Oreimo-clone light novel rush by 4 years.

Oh, I loved 999! I finished the game a couple months ago and am currently finishing up the last few plotlines to Zero's Last Reward.

Hm.. the movie trailer doesn't look too bad to me. Although the cheesy one-liners need to stop.
I find it kinda funny that the protag just shoots himself to test his theory. Who the hell would do that?

I love the concept I love the art this is a must read for me.
Just saying, the title itself was enough to get me interested. -
Well, when the alternative is waiting through the whole day just to get impaled by an alienā¦
Or.. maybe you're just having a mental breakdown because you're about to battle to the death? If everything kept panning out like that, I still wouldn't kill myself to test the theory. I'd just keep trying to do better.
It's just an odd decision to me, what if you were wrong?
-
looking forward to what happens next
! Though I hope the protagonist doesn't remain too long in the same time loop and manages to get out of it very soon into the story
-
It's just an odd decision to me, what if you were wrong?
considering his face when he woke up again, i kinda think thats what he was hoping for
reliving painful, gruesome deaths for eternity isn“t really something to look forward to
-
Chapter 2. Well, that was a fast transition from rookie to complete badass. lol
-
Dat face manā¦
Will he also get a giant Axe? -
Dat face manā¦
Will he also get a giant Axe?Yeah, he'll get an axe. Which, if it follows his manga color scheme, will be a⦠red axe. Cue Samurai Flamenco opening
-
Oh, I just realized I read chapter 3, and missed 2.
Thankfully Tonarino Young Jump has the missed chapter! -
I think surviving a day and getting a sleep would serve as checkpoint, otherwise having to endlessly repeat everything from day 1 ever since chapter 1 would be repetitive as fuck.
I think that girl soldier heroine might have same ability.
-
I'm wondering what it would be like if it can only reset to the first day, he eventually makes it through the war, dies of old age having made peace with the world, and then BAM right back where he started
-

Well, you can still win the war and then be whatever you want afterwards.
Like⦠being a stock broker. Or a gambler. Or just anything else. -

Honestly? Having endless second chances, and retaining all he learned during his livesā¦
That sounds like pretty sweet deal, actually. I might try to take over the world after some time. Maybe create a harem for myself, why not. It's basically a paradise for every amoral bastard ever, since his actions have no consequences, other than getting back in time. And death? One could probably get used to that.
-
One of my hunches turned out to be correct (although I nevertheless was almost sure that Rika had same ability), but I think that my second hunch must be correct as well. Not because it's something based on constructive logic, but it's just that those are 2 obvious solutions to solve 2 major problems with this manga -
- being alone in an endless loop would just get boring;
- repeating everything from day 1 after each death would be even more boring.
There just must be a way to save a checkpoint for those loops and it happening by going to sleep after surviving a day seems to be the most appropriate solution.

This PREDATES MuvLuv Alternative, so it's highly likely this was an influence for the game.
Not necessarily, I learned in 2011 or so that an American novel with a similar concept to this one (closer than both are to MLA) was released circa 2003, with the experience accumulating like a video game. Just because something was released prior to another title, does not mean it was widely read, or that it was a definitive influence. If we go by that logic, "doge" is a Homestar Runner meme.
I had the same thought, though I read AYNIK waaaaaaaay before I heard about Muvluv. I didn't realize the similarities were there until I looked up Muvluv's story a couple months ago, when people were connecting Shingeki to Muvluv (which Isayama confirmed or something, I remember).
That's because Ishiyama admitted he 'plagiarised' Muv-Luv on his blog, and drew some cross-over manga pages as penance. I even have a photo of him and Kouki bro'ing it up at some convention.
