          I think buying Romance Dawn when it comes over stateside will help more than signing a petition.

              It would also be awesome if they could bring over that slick One Piece 3DS XL.

                Of course, but the petition can't hurt.

                  Do these things ever actually work?

                    @Aaronrules380:

                    Do these things ever actually work?

                    Off the top of my head, in just media, Kim Possible got its fourth season, Futurama came back, and a Micahel Jackson dvd of one of his concerts was released based on online petitions. Possibly even within our own fandom Pirate Warriors 1 might have slunk through based on demand.

                    You get to political things like bridges and road constuction and stopping of certain bills. or getting Bank of America to drop its $5 debit card fees, then yes, there's successes

                    Online petitions can work as long as
                    1. The Ask is compelling and achievable;
                    2. The petition is delivered directly to the target;
                    3. Social media tools are used to get the word out and recruit supporters; and
                    4. The online petition is followed up by offline action.

                    In fandom's case, this usually means showing there is a willingness to spend cash by at least X ammount of audience, and then following that up by actually spending cash after the product comes out. In both a blessing and curse for the fandom, previous successes or failures mean a lot.

                    For example, how did Pirate Warriors 1 and 2 do? And while a PSN download can be in japanese with subtitles to reduce costs down to a minimal translation team, a 3ds title probably couldn't get away with the same, so is it worth the localising and dubbing cost?

                      I meant more in the world of video games rather than media in general. Especially online petitions where tons of people will sign multiple times to make the numbers look higher. Not to mention people who sign on a principle with no intention of ever buying

                        They could always Phoenix Wright it and stick it on the e-shop?

                        But most likely they'll be using the sales of Romance Dawn before deciding.

                          It's going to come here anyway….

                          Don't see the point of this.

                              No I mean it's going to happen. Like I don't remember a One Piece game being Japan only since grand battle.

                              Things changed and so did Namco.

                                I dunno. I think that if OP: RD is seeing a domestic release, I think it's safe to say that OP: UWRed has an above average chance of seeing a stateside release, especially if RD sells well. What I want to know is if Namco does decide to bring over more OP games, especially OP: UCSP, then I wonder what the chances are for them actually making it like the JP release (having both episodes as well as the Marineford section) rather than cutting out Ep2 like w/ the European release. At this point, I'd even settle for the Pheonix Wright straight to eShop route…and this is coming from someone who hates buying games digitally (physical media all the way for me...but for OP games, beggers can't be choosers).

                                  Nintendo themselves just said something akin to: "We appreciate y'all's support, but ultimately we do what's best for the company. 100,000 signatures does not mean 100,000 sales."

                                  So they pretty much said the hugely successful Xenoblade potential had no bearing on the game's stateside release. :I Whether you believe that is up to you.
