the raid redemption= one of the best action movie???? WOW!!!!!
how exactly seeing a guy faking punching a walking punching bag is interesting?
the only good thing about that movie is that, the main actor is a real martial artist or a guy who literally know martial art. -

It's the single MOST INTENSE martial arts movie ever made. Period. The best? Probably not. But the most tense? Nerve gripping? Gritty? Oh, hell yes it is.
No, really, a movie with this scene:
Deserves every bit of praise it can get.
And, yeah, I'm like superlatively hyped for the sequel. My hype meter is the highest ever.

i love martial art… real, movies, comics, magazines, games etc..
but for the love of god, even from that youtube clip, that look so fake. uko uwais(can't remember how to correctly spell his name) is really good martial art actor. but that look so weak.. once again, so fake.. this is not 60's or 70's anymore. you can even see that the actors slowing down their attack when they almost hit.. fast pace?yes.. but what was the point when it didn't look realistic.. and this sounds like you never seen any Ong Bak film series or any Tony Jaa films or even Uko Uwais previous film "Merantau Warrior".. the only different the raid has gore and more blood..
what is the point when the opponents came one by one and just simply surrendered themselves to be massacred by the protagonist?and the most important thing, in the raid, there is no "ART" in the fights. its like watching matrix reloaded watching Neo vs 1000 agent smith all over again. like previous point examples, the only different is that the raid has more gore.. or just simply just like watching someone strong bullying some weakling.
for me, the is no "real" fighting/martial art movie.. but calling the raid good martial art move is an insult to so many good fighting/martial art whether real martial art or fake exaggerated kungfu like "Once Upon a Time in China film series" or 2000++'s Sha Po Lang, flash point, ip man 1&2, ip man the grandmaster, Ong Bak film series, Rocky film series etc. -

I couldn't disagree more, in fact.
Ong Bak, really? That demo reel for Tony Jaa with no tension, no plot, no acting, no charisma, no purpose, no nothing? Where an army of 50 guys all stand in line to get the Jaa treatment one at a time?
Tony is great, but seriously, those movies should NOT be in any "best martial arts movies" list of any kind. Those chase scenes, omg, the cheesiest thing a human being has created. Some guys carry some barb wire across the street, Tony does a jump in slow motion. In the same goddamn street, some guys are carrying 2 huge mirrors; Tony jumps between them in slow motion, again. Rinse and repeat.
In the Raid movie Iko Uwais gets the SHIT beating outta him in more than one occasion. In fact, the last fight is a 2 on 1 against the villain, and he still kicks the protagonists asses.
The tension this movie achieves is unparalleled in the world of martial arts movie, and that's almost not up to debate. The claustrophobia, the constant danger, the good guys getting trapped in a building full of psychos, getting slaughtered one by one, etc. . .That's simply not found in any other martial arts movie.
And the action scenes are completely fine. They might slow down a bit before the actual hit takes place, but the coreography is awesome, and again, the strong bullying the weak? Iko gets hit and slashed many times throughout the movie, even nameless fodder number 67 can come up and land 2 or 3 kicks on Iko. I love Donnie Yen and his coreographies, but in his movies he's the ubber macho hero that can kick 45 guys at the same time and he's not even scratched. Then, during the final fight, Donnie allows 1 or, maybe, TWO hits from the main villain, and then is rape time for 5-6 straight minutes with a helpless villain getting slaughtered by the MAN Donnie. And that comes from someone that has watched the final fight in Flash Point 25 times or more, but that's how it is.
Also, interesting you bring up the old martial arts movies from the 60's and 70's. I love those movies, but let's be honest here, it doesn't get more "coreographed" than those. All those fights had martial arts techinique to spare, and you don't find such incredible martial arts talent anymore, but those fights were much more dake and telegraphed than the fights in The Raid. Until Jackie and Sammo started speeding up the fights during the 80's, making them less classic but much faster, heavier, dirtier and adding many modern martial arts styles like kickboxing into the mix instead of 100% pure, tight and stick kung fu, the fights were quite hit-stop-hit-stop-hit-stop. . .
I was a die hard Jet Li fan, and I feel like Once Upon a Time in China 1 & 2 are awesome MA movies, but again, their fights don't even come close to The Raid in terms of gritty, hard hitting and tense fights.
I don't know, I was really, gladly impressed with this movie. A martial arts movie with a HUGE sense of danger and tension?

I've never seen this film but i gotta say that i didn't find Ong Bak to be all that good
The dude can fight yes. But the film was below average to average at best

lol… plot.. never mention anything about plot.. story at all.. i am talking about fighting itself..
feel free to disagree. i guess you really need to be a martial artist to understand fighting story. not the arrogant one i mean.
Ong bak was never good in when it come to story plot whatever. but it did what the raid did far earlier. just less blood. but hey, people like blood eh..And the action scenes are completely fine. They might slow down a bit before the actual hit takes place, but the coreography is awesome, and again, the strong bullying the weak? Iko gets hit and slashed many times throughout the movie, even nameless fodder number 67 can come up and land 2 or 3 kicks on Iko. wow.. this is like talking with Bleach hardcore fan.. who care about which movie hero got beaten up how many times.
first, i am talking about the fight. the fight look fake not because they were choreograph.. anybody who understand how real fight in real life work knows this.. they doesn't look as fast as hard as beautiful as in the movie.. that's why we are watching a movie. so thats not the problem i got with this movie. the problem is when the no name nobody care #45 (eg.) trying to hit/punch/slice the main character, he literally slowing down or should i say literally stop when his attack in the range of the main character body or any other part of his body and then the main character will block it and then proceed to slaughter him.. and the movie didn't go slow motion at that time either. and then repeat for another bad guys that coming. so i literally don't know how the hell people failed to notice this or maybe it just they really to caught up in the moment where the main character killing the bad guys or they just ignorant.and then whether you like or hate Donnie typical style of character, its not my problem.. that kind of thing is not something that i discuss at all.
and i just want to comment that i find it really funny on what you were saying about Donnie in flash point.
its one thing that you gave a comment without understanding what i am saying, what is my point of view is and then you gave a comment that literally can be apply to most fighting movies ever created (it can even use on action movie too, lol) and that including The Raid. but hey, its your move man..and NO!! never said anything about story, plot, character, directing or whatever. never talk about any personal preferences either. don't care about what you like or don't like about super tough macho main character or whatever. i am just talking about a glaring weakness when it come to the fight scenes in that movie.
you feel tense, tension, danger from watching this movie, good for you.
i just can't when it so clear that all those mooks in the movie literally stop their attack at the last moment like Uko's character had "Za Warudo" and make the time stop at the very last moment and proceed to attack them after that.
but i have enough of this talk.. if you didn't saw it, then you didn't saw it. it just a waste of time talking about something that people didn't understand but then proceed to give a point on something else entirely.
and hey, i heard there are many people that find Bleach's battles are awesome. i guess people just have different view on what is a good "fight".
one last thing, if you have time, go learn some martial arts. particularly silat and muay thai. have a nice day.–- Update From New Post Merge ---

yes, you are right. i didn't like it either. but what interesting about it is, the martial art. i am not familiar with ONg Bak 1, but Ong Bak 2 and 3, particularly 3, they demonstrated many types of muay thai even the ancient one.
for me, fighting its not just about a dude hitting another dude or just adrenaline. its more than that. maybe they were exaggerated and unrealistic in the movie but at least somehow somewhere there are still people that treasures them.
