Pokémon ORAS and Spinoffs: We Go!

Breloom with Spore and False Swipe, Toxic Orb and Poison Heal is my all time favourite for catching :P
I knew Breloon was a must one but didn't know which ability was better to catch so thanks.
Edit: In a recent interview from Junichi Masuda answers why the remakes don't have the battle frontier.
http://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/2olg6s/interview_with_junichi_masuada_reasoning_behind/Q:We noticed ORAS had a lower difficulty level compared to previous Pokemon games. What bought you to this decision? Any chance that future games will have the possibility to adjust difficulty level as seen in Black and White 2?
A:What? How come you've already played the games? hearty laughter [the games were supposed to come out in Italy the day after the interview] We created a "balanced" game that was suited for our time and age, where everyone is very busy and young people have various means of entertainment. Using smartphones and other devices they can access a great number of games, so the time they dedicate to a single game is less than in the past. The player can choose to keep on playing after the main story and continue to the post-game, where the difficulty rises and there are much more difficult Trainers and challenges to overcome."Q:Why wasn't the Battle Frontier in the remakes?
A:This question is connected with my previous answer. We didn't put the BF in ORAS for this very reason. Interviewer's note: In short he means that they didn't include the BF because only a very small part of the players would have fully appreciated and made use of this feature; nowadays players get bored and frustrated more easily and they aren't interested in things that are so demanding/challenging."This is the most retarded, asinine, backward excuse that I ever seen as to why one of the most waited features for these remakes was cut.

Yeah I understand what you mean, but the core of it is actually quite perceptive. With easy on-the-go entertainment available everywhere and at the click of a button, less people like to dedicate time to more complex stuff. Nintendo's approach has been this way for a while now, with the Wii Sports flagship as the most obvious one. They're adapting to what people want - the majority, not the hardcore gamer community. It's a shame and I wish it was otherwise, too, but I can understand their reasoning.
Better than other companies, still.
-
So, what's the best name for my Mega Metagross, Emeth or Meyrink?
-
I laughed for a few minutes when I first visited the battle resort. Since I play Ruby, it was team Aqua who was there. Seeing the short and scrawny Wally just accidentally push two burly men like Archie and his admin out of his way is just hilarious for me. And now, I'm soft-resetting like crazy to try to get my shiny Ho-oh… sigh
-
400 Sr's later and still no Shiny Uxie/Mesprit/Azelf. Well, at least this is slightly more tolerable than Soft-resetting for a Shiny Latios.
-
^ I'll never understand how you guys abuse yourselves like this.

Competitive Pokemon players are masochists by nature.

I did not get very far in the Battle Frontier in Emerald, but darn it, it was fun. Look at the variety:
-rental Pokemon (Battle Factory)
-letting your Pokemon act completely on their own (Battle Palace)
-tournament set-up (Battle Dome)
-climbing a tower to advance (Battle Saloon)
-winning via judge's decision (Battle Arena)
-Brandon and his legendary Pokemon (Battle Pyramid)
-random outcomes (Battle Pike)Only the White Forest in White 2 and Pokeathlon in Heartgold entertained me as much.
What does this remake have, post-game wise? More legendaries to hunt, delta episode….tell me the Safari Zone expands like in Emerald.

Thats so stupid if people dont want to do challening content they have the option to not do it, you dont have to take it out and not give challenging content to other people because of that, so basicly the games will get progressively easier because people are busy and the games needs to be easy for busy people.
With that said BF is not part of Ruby and Saphire it was from Emerald so I'm fine with it not being in but I find the reasoning dumb regardless.
-
When the interviewer asked why this game was easier compared to past Pokemon games, what exactly was the benchmark? The original? Gen IV? Gen V? X and Y? I'm curious.
-
Yeah. If you're telling me Primal Groudon and Kyogre and Champion Steven (the rematch as well) let alone Deoxys were easy stuff, the interviewer either didn't play the games or was on crack.
The battle against Primal Kyogre was hell. The fucker kept healing at every turn because of Aqua Ring, and its Origin Pulse crushed even my pokemon with the highest Sp. Defense. As for Steven, I barely survived by a hair's breadth, and in the rematch I needed 7 tries to finally beat him, again narrowly. Neither was the rematch against the Elite Four a walk in the park.

There was a cutscene during development where you CQC Wally to death and see his spirit reunite with his Gardevoir.

Oh crap Steven was already tough in the original….at least for me.

So you still haven't gotten to there?
-
Latios permanently joins your party at Southern island right? If that's true, how anti climatic, I was prepared to catch the thing.

So you still haven't gotten to there?
Me and my slow self are headed to Lavaridge.
Meanwhile my co-worker beat Omega Ruby in a few days, and is now playing Alpha Sapphire…..and still is farther than me XD

Well, you still can get to catch its counterpart… if you manage to get an EON Ticket, that is.

Is the Eon ticket distribution like a contagious disease or do I have to wait for an original holder?

I had completely forgotten how awesome the BF was until you listed these features… I used to love the hell out of the rental Pokemon from the battle factory. So much fun! Imagine doing something similar online ^^ well, if they're really doing Delta Emerald...

I just gave up on Primal Kyogre and killed it, will be back for it later. But it was pretty easy to kill it. Catching was more of a problem because of the healing (unless quick ball worked, which it did several times) - but I had to be careful not to 2HKO it with my Breloom. Luckily, False Swipe. But it didn't put a dent in my Metagross, or Goodra (granted, that one was a bit overlevelled at 56)

Battle Palace, Pyramid, and Pike were all really bad.
Granted the Gen IV Battle Frontier wasn't any better.

I got a shiny Luvdisc while chain fishing for a Corsola.
The shiny factor is offset by it being a goddamn Luvdisc.

Seems the RNG gods decided they wanted to merciful and spiteful at the same time
Though I can't bust their balls given that they granted me a shiny geodude in a horde battle in Y…......and this time I actually got to catch it.

I'm sorry but this reasoning is also dumb when we have a gold and silver remakes that also got crystal elements added to it and a even a battle facility that didn't exist in the original games.

I can give you the battle palace but I rather have the kind of bad luck/ good luck that the pike gave us than the hax bullshit that exist in the battle maison now, and sorry but Pyramid was good because of the kind of different challenge it gives, instead of just battling you had to find your way up with items scattered everywhere and if you found them you had to think if you were using this item or not now or guard it for later runs.
And instead of just using competitive pokemon you had to think if you were using a pokemon with pick up (to have more chance to get items that could save the run) or even a pokemon with run away so that you could run away from the wild pokemon that could screw you in there.
The battle pyramid real challenge was resources management, thus giving us a different type of challenge than just battling that alone makes the battle pyramid great. -
I guess so, they did add the Eugene storyline to HG/SS yeah.

Of course, defeating it is piece of cake since it's only one pokemon, but catching it… ugh. Was about to give up when it finally got into the ball. Never have I felt such a joy from catching a legendary.
As for the BF, there's the BR in its place, though there's also some hint about a time locked implementation in process.

In the Battle Resort there's a man that tells you the Battle Frontier is under construction.

So, since I'm lazy in video games and get bored easily, I ended up stopping the SRs to get Shiny Ho-oh. I just got regular Ho-oh… With a Quick ball... Seriously, I think Quick balls failed me only 4 times out of near 100 times, and 2 of these times were against Rayquaza and Deoxys...
Since I don't have money for the Pokebank for now, I borrowed my friend's 3DS when I was watching a movie at his place and transferred all my shinies and the legendaries I can't catch in Ruby from my X version... Wich mean I got Mega-Diancie! I'm so happy! I didn't knew if it would work since I got it from some random guy on the net. I wanted it just to complete my Fairy collection and didn't cared if it was legit or not. You see, the closest EBGames (since I'm in Canada) is at more that 6 hours of car from where I live. As you can imagine, that mean that I can't really get those event pokemon... And it really annoy me and I think it's not fair. All events pokemon should be internet events IMO, so it's fair for everyone, even the ones who don't have access to Gamestop or EBGames. Oh well... Maybe one day...
-
Unfortunately for now is the later.
Is it really though? Today I took my 3DS with me and actually did end up with an Eon Ticket even though I highly doubted that I would get one. The tickets haven't been distributed in Germany yet so either I got extremely lucky and passed someone from another state who had his 3DS on him AND is an original holder, or it does work like a contagious disease. And I think the latter's a lot more likely ^^
-
Yeah got also an Eon Ticket even though I doubted I could get one (I'm also from Germany).
I think it is worth taking the 3DS with you now and then. -
I'm so lazy to take my 3DS with me, so when I have a spare for Latias I'll trade it for Latios.
-

Kind of funny since I have shiny mew with 5 ivs which I incidentally got a trade which doesn't look suspect at all.

Event Pokemon (special Pokemon can't be traded), can only NOT be traded over GTS/Wondertrade (same with mega stones), but it works fine over standard trade. So if you got your Diancie that way it's legit, probably. It just doesn't work on the GTS. Which is really annoying because half the people put stuff up and ask for event legendaries, so it's a complete waste of server space because even if I WANTED to I couldn't send them my Mew or Arceus or Genesect :( You can't put them on the server either, so Nintendo should just not allow asking for them as well.
-
Archie's reaction when beaten is a perfectly good example of why I hope gen 7 does away with the static images of non storyline important characters that Gamefreak introduced with X & Y.
-
Officially on my longest shiny hunt via masuda method ever. My previous record was 647 (hatched a shiny Honedge) and now I'm currently up to 655 with still no shiny Buneary. =P
I've decided to rebalance the egg moves and add its HA in once I've hit 700.
-
This is why Flannery is my favorite Hoenn gym leader.
Anyways yeah, 4th badge is mine. And unlike Watson, it was pretty challenging (I still had EXP share but no one was at or above lv. 30, plus I didn't have healing items). Darn Torkoal and its Overheat! …..although, perhaps if I wasn't so concerned with balancing everyone's levels, I would've brought Milotic for teh gym.
team so far:
Grovyle lv. 29
Swellow lv. 29
Vulpix lv. 29
Voltorb lv. 29
Jigglypuff lv. 29
Milotic lv. 29
Kirlia lv. 27
Skarmory lv. 26
Hariyama lv. 28I've got the stones to evolve Vulpix and Jiggs, but I want to wait until they learn some better moves first. Still want one more Pokemon to fill the team.
-
Finally got all legendairies in the game … Some really were a pain in the ass to catch.

Go for Sableye :)
Otherwise you've covered most types already… Oh yeah, and Flannery is the best. Definitely. -

Well, there's some backstory as you advance through each level of difficulty.

Lucarionite if you complete all the Master ranks and beat whats-her-face.
Also, your fans give you random items/berries/destiny knots.
rgh I so desperately want a shiny Honedge - and a competitive one. I'd give a lot for that.
I MM'd for one twice. The first one (which was the one I got in the 600's) was flawless. It was Brave natured with 5 IVs in everything except speed. But then I lost my game (the pain… THE PAIN...).
So I decided to go for a mixed one the second time around (Quite nature). I got it in the 200's which is actually pretty quick BUT... it's missing the Sp. Attk IV. =P
Has everything else except Speed (naturally). I could probably still run a pretty viable mixed set but it just really sucks that I didn't get the Sp Attk IV since I have a nature that's supposed to help it.
Just hit 700 eggs on my Buneary hunt. I decided to go on the GTS to trade for a Limber male Buneary so I can start rebalancing the stats. Found one immediately that wasn't just HA but also had 5 IVs AND carried a Starf berry. He wanted a Groudon in return.
Since I had two I happily gave it up and now I can start breeding to rebalance everything. (I was also going to have to look for a pokemon with Cosmic Power but thankfully this Buneary ALSO has Cosmic Power so... I lucked out tremendously in this trade).~
Edit: Hmm… Upon much closer inspection I realize I cannot pass the HA down without also getting rid of the love ball (since both the HA and the ball aesthetic is tied to the female). So it sucks but it looks like I'm going to have to do without Limber.
I can, however, pass Cosmic Power down. I just wish I had Limber so I can come in on predicted TWaves. Ah well.~

Thats the sort of thing you save the masterball for.

Males can pass on their HA now… but yes, if breeding two of the same, the female will always take priority.
You can breed the male with a ditto until you get a female with the HA and moves and go from there... and the majority of those IVs... though yes, passing the ball is impossible.
I'd say ultimately the ability is more important than easier happiness.

In my case the ball is more important because I like fancy aesthetics like that. I spent months looking for a good IV Love Ball Buneary. >_>
I'm willing to play a little riskier for shallow reasons like a love ball.~
Edit: Shiny Hunt Update: I'm up to 830 eggs now and still no shiny. I did end up rebalancing the stats/egg moves like I promised myself I would at 700. I have a 6 IV Ditto and a 6 IV Buneary now so at minimum my shiny is going to be 5 IV (with, hopefully, the missing perfect in SpA).
I'm going to try and get the Oval Charm if I hit 1000 eggs since I'm getting sick of this kid being so stingy with these eggs. >_>
Btw guys, I have like… tons and tons of 5 IV flawless Bunearies if you want one. I have a bunch with some pretty standard egg moves and then a couple with my gimmicky set (which includes Cosmic Power). All of them are females in Love Balls.
