But yeah, I'm here and finally settled down in Japan. Classes have started, took our language placement tests today and will be sorted into class groups a little later. (I forgot the kanji for benri . . . .)

AKP (that's Associated Kyoto Program to you) is very cool, they hold your hand through everything, like Alien Registration and National Health Insurance. We also get lunch money! And I'm also enjoying my time with the other students, they're all cool. Although I am the only big One Piece fan and I think I'm the biggest anime fan period. I watched it on Sunday, nearly had a cow when they left out Paulie's emotional scene with Luffy. WTF!?

In sadder news since I live in Kyoto and my host family doesn't have cable, I can't watch Bleach or Naruto. crying buckets of tears Damn Telebi Tokyo!

My host family is uber nice, but I'm still not used to living with them. Right now I honestly would rather be back in my dorm. But it's only the first week, I'll adapt eventually. I just kinda wish my host mom would stop smiling 24/7 . . . . .

No, I haven't been to Book-Off for manga yet. If I went right now my wallet would disappear in a puff of smoke. I WILL go shopping today though cause I need a new school bag and my keitai (cell phone) needs an ornament. And yes, Japanese cell phones are vastly superior to American ones. Go AU and your 50% student discount!

Food, of course, is awesome. Our college cafeteria offers Gyoza Ramen, which I have been devouring like a madwoman. My host mom is also a very good cook. (somen! Yummy!) Definitely don't miss the college food.

I'm enrolled right now in Go and Japanese Cinema. In Cinema we watched an old, apparently famous silent movie called A Page of Madness. I fell asleep for about ten minutes of it. In Go we just started playing our first real 9x9 games. I'm not as bad as I thought I was, but I still stink.

And while here I have discovered an intersting little tidbit about myself: My favorite characters from the Big 3 Shonen Series, Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece, all have a name ending in "ji". Namely Neji, Renji, and Sanji. Weird, huh?

So yeah, I'll try to come back and post when I can. I'm on campus computers now, must find a nearby net cafe so that I can use the wireless on my laptop.

Hrmm. I don't think TV Tokyo is a cable channel. My home-home got not cable but I can… watch it? At least Naruto. The broadcasting company should be under different name... Hrmmm. Maybe TV Osaka?

. . . . . . . Oceanizer, you may have just salvaged my fandom. But . . . . when Tuesday came I checked the tv at the right time (I think) and none of the channels were playing it. But now that you've given me that list maybe I'll be able to find it. has to check with host mom just what channels we get

And yes, living with a host family is weird. But I'll probably adjust to it in good time.

Cosmic, the scene I'm talking about is when Luffy and Paulie are strapped to the floor unable to move, and Paulie is getting desperate to go save Iceburg. Then he's all like, "That man is my honored teacher! He made me a full-fledged shipwright!" and Luffy's all like "!" That was completely left out. They just went right into Luffy using his gomugomu powers to get out of the bonds.

The episode I watched was the one last Sunday. As in September 11th. Are you saying they moved the scene to another episode?

sigh Thank you for trying to help, Oceanizer, but it remained uselsss.

I copied down the names of all the channels we get at the house, both Kanji AND hiragana so that I wouldn't risk missing anything. And just now after I looked at both the channel lists for Naruto and Bleach . . . . . . not one match. Not even ONE of the channels that my house gets plays TV Tokyo anime.

If this was my normal house I'd be screaming and ranting and swearing like a sailor, but no. This is my host family, and I have to be polite and all "I'm a nice girl!" I know it's not their fault, but I'm so freaking aggravated right now! One of the things I had REALLY looked forward to about Japan, despite all my nerves, was being able to watch my favorite anime on tv. But it looks like God mocks me. If I were one of the kids who lives out in Osaka I could watch it on TV Osaka, but no. I am doomed to know forever that I lived in Japan for 8 freaking months and never got to watch two of my favorite anime.

I swear, if I didn't get at least One Piece there would be a big, burning hole where my family's television used to be.

Although this morning I did watch Kyo Kara Maoh.

I think so. The episode with Pauly's scene ended with CP9 taking off their masks.

I go to Japan every year. I go with my family. You couldn't watch TV Tokyo anime? Have you been to any sites. I live in Tokyo when I go. It's a very interesting place
