Fortunately, Apoo didn't give in to my insistence of lynching X Drake. I did think Killer was more likely to be mafia but I just really didn't want to deal with a roleblocker…
Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...
One Piece Mafia: Part III

Yeah that's true I guess. I think it's like Huschel said, the game could have gone a lot of different ways, but there were just so many external factors that for some people it felt like the game wasn't in their control. We had the advantage of knowing a lot about the setup (like that there were 2 of us and that we couldn't be killed :p).
I'm also happy that my claim worked so well. Usually when I fakeclaim I get insta-barbecued.
-
Holy, was the prize for the last riddle also the coat or did I miss out on something?
-
@Mrs.:
I'm also happy that my claim worked so well. Usually when I fakeclaim I get insta-barbecued.
That was one of the reasons why I didn't think you could be you.
-
Damn you, Drake !
I had a lot of fun plotting with trappedolphin. -
Damn you, Drake !
I had a lot of fun plotting with trappedolphin.Haha, awww! Yup plotting is always fun. It's nice to be able to spam but I really missed having someone to bounce ideas off of. Plus my precious, precious roleblocker. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself! Please play again.
-
When I got my role PM I was so glad to finally have a power again. And I wasn't mafia so none of that pressure. And I had a partner to talk to? Amazing.
Wait, I'm an enemy of the town? …
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
I didn't want to click all the arrows in the necromancer qt. Was there any limitation to the one-shot abilities you each had? Like, could you have just ordered a zombie to vote for the same person that you did every day for the rest of the game and not say anything else?
Probably. Holy would have had to confirm that he would allow it but it seems in line with other ideas.
-
I see. That's…. a really OP ability, to be honest. I woulda gone to town with an ability like that
Wouldn't even matter anymore if it revealed my presence, just submit two orders to two zombies to vote the same as you for every single day for the rest of the game after mafia died and you'd easily have majority every day.
I thought I understood but now I'm still confused about the Silent Stranger's fate. If he's unkillable but lynchable, that suggests he would be immune to night kills. But that wouldn't explain why he was unroleblockable. To say that he cannot be roleblocked or killed suggests that he cannot be targeted. So he just seems like an untargetable entity which really just makes him seem like he's there for narration purposes. But then he can be lynched... He should be either targetable or untargetable. Was there a reason for allowing him to be lynched? I don't know why else except to buffer lynches on other players.
kids
entirely
-
I got the impression that the lynch of the Silent Stranger happened because we wanted it to. For flavour reasons.
And revealing ourselves like that would have just led to the zombies being shot and then us getting lynched.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Did the Stranger lynch end the Day? I can't remember.
-
Shot? By what? There were 6 players left on Day 7. The two of you + two zombies would have made up majority. It's just a rough idea of how much power the ability has anyway. Not my biggest gripe about the set-up regardless.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
The Stranger lynch didn't exactly end the day, though I suppose it would have... Holy's day end post was made after the 72 hours were over.
-
I remember asking Holy if we could lynch or kill the Silent Stranger pretty early in the game and he told me we couldn't. But maybe we just couldn't nightkill him, I don't remember. :wassat:

That's what I somehow remember too! XD But I have been told otherwise and I'm lazy to go back to reread…

I think if I were a necromancer I would have been a little bit irritated by the win con. Needing every living townie to be a zombie seems okay, having to zombify dead townies too kinda just drags it out.
-
What even was the Silent Stranger, apart from a mechanism to randomly hand out powers? I liked the riddles and rewarding players for getting them right, but it did add to the confusion and the randomness of balancing things.
-
Shot by you.
We had used up one command already at that point to prevent me from getting lynched. But they were of course a powerful tool. I was pretty surprised when my roleblocked Order didn't count as having been used.
-
I'll tell you one thing I really did like about the game. It was off site. I was tired of seeing the same names over and over again. Even if the usual people played at least I didn't know who was who and so there was no influence on my decisions in any way no matter how small.
-
I said do that after the mafia died XD But yeah I guess you couldn't do that because of that particular situation.
I didn't like the riddles even if I solved one. (I think I've said this a bunch of times already.) Leave the time-sensitive stuff to life-sucking games like Survivor and BB! And bombs in a game with only two mafia… (a bomb I was ROBBED of for no good reason. Okay that's the last time I'll say it, I promise.) A bit irrelevant, I also got confused about how much impact they were supposed to have. I asked Holy when the second riddle came out whether it would be like the first one, out of fear of another random insta-kill. He said it wouldn't be anything as drastic as the first one but then it was... I've forgotten what the third one (cloak) did though. But by the time it came around I was like eh I really really am too tired to bother about it anymore. That part was true lol. I was kinda worried about it being used against me if I didn't win it and losing the game that way but then I decided to not care.

Should I be more ashamed of killing Foolio on purpose?
I'm really not though…

Lol, I was wrong with most of my assumptions on who was who so that's good?

The thing is, with a closed setup the town has to be able to make certain types of assumptions about the things that are going on. The roleplaying / silent stranger mechanic made that basically impossible because random things would happen for basically no reason. And the inconsistency of Holy's availability when asking for clarification and such only made it worse. The other thing is that the townie roleblocker role was nonsensical in this setup. We HAD to assume either that he was lying about his ability, or that there was a reason for the role's inclusion. But all it did was hurt the town since the mafia was unstoppable by it, and in essence the necromancers as well since there were TWO of them. And let's not get started on the concept of reviving dead players in general. For one, after being dead for several days, it was hard to care or keep up with past events.

Yes I was one of the people pushing for off-site because too much blatant meta gets tiresome. But QT is a poor place to host. A real forum would be much appreciated.

Bonney here.
Sorry for being absent in the last day, but this weekend was the worst time to revive me.I just have one question: HOW THE HELL DID UROUGE MANAGED TO STAY ALIVE ALL GAME?
Now to reread the last posts
-
Aw maaaaaan. Huschel was right about you. I was really sure that Apoo was Gerri! I even started calling the necromancers Gerrischel. I don't know how to combine Iceburg and Huschel… meh. I thought you were Bonney.
I guess the problem for town was that two of their most significant power roles, watcher and roleblocker, were effectively not very helpful for catching mafia in this kind of set-up, since I had the godfather role. Watcher could not see my kills, and the roleblocker couldn't block kills ever unless he blocked Luffy who blocked Capone who docced my kill target. A really specific and unlikely situation. Not to mention how the town roleblocker is more likely to get false negatives than anything useful out of his actions. And we had a roleblocker to block the doctor. Having zombie townies around isn't a huge edge for town (or anyone in particular; honestly just a nuisance XD) because they have no powers (I asked Holy, townies weren't supposed to have their actions go through the night they died; the last Law watcher report was an oversight) and can even have their votes count against them. So in that respect I get why it would be frustrating for town. (I'm really just discussing this point as a matter of interest now. Not due to lack of steam, I've just vented a lot already.)
Day 6 was the most intense, yeah. Haven't had as much fun arguing with anyone as I did against Kitty. I guess I'm glad it wasn't an easy or obvious decision XD

Those town roles were meant to not be too effective on the mafia in order to give you more advantage while being primarily for stalling necromancers.

Holy, was the prize for the last riddle also the coat or did I miss out on something?
The last prize never went through cause the SS was killed. The cloak went to whoever hammered the SS (aka you).
-
The problem with that is that the Mafia would never ever kill the Necromancers meaning they could only ever be lynched. The town roles were ineffective against Necromancers because a Watcher would never catch them and the roleblocker was ineffective because there were two necromancers.
-

What was the last prize?
-
Long game. Glad I was only a replacement (Hawkins 2.0/Hulkins).
MVP to…the winners. I wasn't keeping up.
Next time use less gimmicks Holy. Keep it simple. It's easy for new hosts to add too many elements, I did it in my first game too. Thumbs up for having a Day Vig, buddy. Best role in OPM.
-
I'm not all Mafia'd out so I'll just say if there's another Mafia game just throw me in there. Whenever, whoever.
-
Well hell I'm getting the modding bug but theoretically I don't have the time for it…

I actually got to read a few of the past games that made me wanna host another as well… The most complicated setup ever imagined...
Sadly, I probably wouldn't be able to be just with the role.

Geez kami that post is 6 months old.
But you've hosted before, haven't you? I remember it was pretty good.

Don't have much time but hey, I'd make time for mafia. -

Yay, only two more~
I would like to start this sometime tomorrow, so if we don't get all 10 by then, this is fine...technically my first iteration only had 8, but 10 just seemed better
Don't forget to send in your characters, we will be playing this on quicktopic much like the last game was.
-
One more to the party, Shuhan. I'm in!
-
Don't forget to send in characters~
Slight technical snafu…more like an oversight on my part. I'm going to be busy most of the day today, so I'm gonna push the start of the game till tomorrow afternoon, somewhere around 5:30pm-6:00pm est.
Hope that is not an issue, besides, we can use that time to wait for one last sign up, if you got someone in mind that would love to play, drag em over!

everyone gets special names except for nectar and me
