Okay then, I have some anime I want to burn. I've been using CD-R disks but its a bit of a pain to put 2-3 episodes in there.

So I was wondering if there's a program or something that I need to use.

By the way I use Nero Express, I've tried burning anime on a DVD-R with that program but it tells me that its an 'Unsupported File' or something like that.

So, is there any way or. . . is it just an impossibility?

Do you want to create, a data disc or write them on so you can watch them on a DVD player?

If you want watch them on your DVD player, first I'd download the WinAVI convertor program, then you can convert any episode you want from AVI/MPG/WMV to DVD format (roughly 1 episode 220mb avi/after you convert it to DVD the file will be 800mb or more, so you'll be able to fit 4, 5 or even 6 eps onto one, one sided DVD)

But if you just want to store 30 or 40 eps on a DVD to watch on your PC, just take all the eps you want and create a back-up disc and burn them, too easy.

          It is possible.

http://www.videohelp.com/ has all the articles and help you will need to convert your video files into DVDs. But it is tedious and takes a lot of patience.

That is if you want them to be playable on a standalone DVD player. Otherwise it is quite simple as Battle franky has said.

I'm having the same kind of problem, I need to fee up my hard-drive and put my anime on to DVD's thing is I have a crappy DVD burning program (Arcsoft Showbiz) and I need to know, what's a good DVD burning program that will allow me to burn up to atleast 5 episodes a disc without sacrificing quality and/or croping out subs?

If you want watch them on your DVD player, first I'd download the WinAVI convertor program, then you can convert any episode you want from AVI/MPG/WMV to DVD format (roughly 1 episode 220mb avi/after you convert it to DVD the file will be 800mb or more, so you'll be able to fit 4, 5 or even 6 eps onto one, one sided DVD)

 I'm not sure I understand how 220mb - 800mb fits better (then again I'm pretty clueless about this anyway 😛 ) But I'll deffinetly give it a try, thanks.

If you want to add in the subtitles, you have to go through a few more steps, the site i posted has the links..

Though WinAvi is good for a lot of simple tasks ^_^

And dont use Nero to convert your files - the encoder is slow (VERY I mean).

VirtualDUB is really good for encoding too.

Virtual Dub is excellent but you need the version with mpeg2 support (there are a lot of versions of the program out there). I use tmpgenc for encoding for dvd. Lets you adjust size of the files (at a loss of quality - this cannot be helped - you generally cannot fit more than two episoeds on a disc without compromising quality) and has support for some nice extra features. I found it easy enough to use out of the box. I also use their dvd authoring software (not that I've bothered in like a year and a half - I hooked my pc up to the tv and don't bother authoring dvds any more). If you don't care about your menus then you can use whatever software you happen to have to author.
Videohelp is a great resource. That is where I started looking for info. Lots of good guides there and they lead you to doom9.org for more (another top notch site with lots of good guides and downloads).
While it is nice to make beautiful professional quality dvds (mine were coming out really nice - got a lot of compliments) it takes a loooooong time to do so. Even after I upgraded my machine it still takes at least 30 minutes to re-encode a video to mpeg2. Its not bad if you set up a batch job before going to bed, but its just a long annoying process.
Read through some of the guides from videohelp and doom9 and grab some of the free trial software and play around with it. You can decide for yourself if its all worth it once you have some experience with it.

And you can dream - So dream out loud

I'd like to thank everyone who posted, Thanks a bunches. 🙂

But despite that, I downloaded and used WinAvi, I still can't burn my anime onto a DVD-R 😞 . It tells me during the converting process that I must check to see if the file plays on Windows Media Player but of course it doesn't <_< . It tells me that it has a problem loading the codec. Is there a way to rectify this?

Try downloading ffdshow. http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ffdshow…12.exe?download links to the latest version.

Or if you want you can download a program called Gspot which will identify the codec used in your video file so that you can download the appropriate codecs. found at http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

And yet I come to another problem <_<

Quote: "The destination MPEG/DVD file cannot be written, please check your harddrive and Windows, make sure it can be written.":End Quote. This is what it tells my when I try converting the Avi files to DVD.

I don't get what it wants me to do. Any suggestions?

That's very wierd. Try to do a scandisk on your PC. If the problem persists, try doing a surface scan (aka test for bad sectors). It could be your HDD having problems from the message and it could be not too… So you will have to check your HDD to confirm.
