More confirmation that toy soldier is Rebecca's dad.
Ricky is most likely King Riku. Scarlett falls in love with Kyros. Scarlett leaves/gets banished from the palace for being with a Gladiator. They have Rebecca and live in poverty. Doflamingo arrives with the toy devil fruit user (could be Diamante) and turns people into toys including Kyros. Which explains why nobody remembers Kyros and since toys seem to go back to their previous life explains why Rebecca sees the toy soldier as her father.
Doflamingo using the confusion from the people losing memories from the toys. Goes behind the shadows puppetering events making it look like the previous kingdom was corrupt. Sets fire to the kingdom placing the blame on the king. Starts hunting down people from the lineage either killing them or turning them into toys. Eventually the country ends up hating the king and wants a change. Doflamingo then takes over as king and is loved by the people since he changed everything for the better.

Look, it was a good chapter and I'm one of the few who likes Rebecca's back story but her looking like Nami is scary and hard to let go for me for some reason. I didn't think Viviv/ Hancock / Mermaid princess looked like her but this…I am looking forward to the rest of the arc either way though, looks like we are trying to finish the tournament before getting into the other plots, I'm more so looking forward to Bart's fight and hope he gets some scenes in with Luffy before that, should be fun 
Here's what I think, after the tournament arc is over and Luffy's group goes in search of Dof, will rewind time and see what happened to the others plots, that's happened before so.
Also, the toy being her father? Thought it was her love interest, bum bum bum plot twist

Theory about Ricky and Kyros so far:
Ricky is Rebeccas grandpa King Riku. He was not a bad king but very proud, traditional and honorable. Rebeccas mom was his daughter. She fell in Love with Dressrosas hero at the time. Kyros the mighty Gladiator. She fell in love with him got pregnant. Father expelled her from the palace asked DoFlamingo to help him punish Kyros. He couldnt by himself since Kyros was the strongest fighter on Dressrosa at that time. Flamingo comes in with his crew, cuts of Kyros leg and has someone in his crew make him into a toy. After that King Riku notices Flamingos bad character. With Kyros out of the picture Flamingo finds a way to take over Dressrosa.
In the flashback Toy Soldier says that through Rebeccas vains flows the same royal blood as in her mothers. We see that Rebecca and her mother live in a house and not the palace. Ricky during B Block makes a comment about the Prodense king as if he had running with his father Elisabello the first. This, his name, attitude, the short flashback in the catacombes and todays flshback pretty much confirm that he is old King Riku form my point of view. He doesnt have an injury, like Kyros is supposed to and he was to weak.
Soldier San has all the markers to be Kyros. Injury, strong fighter, relationship with Rebeccas mother, explains why the Rebecca and mom didnt live in the palace and so on.

Another possibility is Diamante is the one who inflicted the wound on Kyros. He cut of his leg in one of the fights and eventually became the colisseum champion. Kyros couldn't fight anymore so Scarlett left the palace to be with him.

Nice chapter, tough the flashback did feel a little rushed. It just could have been little longer so that it could carry more emotional impact. Not that it was terrible tough; I loved how jealous toy soldier was about the love letter boy! 
Also it's a little thing, but I like how much darker tone Oda has taken in his story, enough to actually show dead bodies on-screen. I don't think he has done that after Ace and Whitebeard (and even he was little shadowed).
Doflamingo's clearly somehow responsible for tarnishing Riku's reputation (btw that's a nickname here in Finland; gonna take some to get used to :pouty:), but honestly I would find it more interesting if he actually was a horrible tyrant, since it would make Doffy less of a "cardboard villain beyond everything that's wrong in this kingdom" and the whole situation more complicated when Rebecca and SH's try to ursup him! Of course she's gonna beloved by her subjects in the end but still!
Oh well, maybe Oda takes the longer route for once.
That little girl being Doffy's daughter might be more likely after all. If he needed to ensure his throne and support, he probably had to make sure he would have a potential successor a.k.a. a kid. But the question is that who is the mother? Jora? :ninja: Just kidding!
Also having a relationship with a toy = definitely kinky! I know that sex isn't all there is in partnership, but there still needs to be sexual tension! Otherwise we would fall in love with anyone and not just the genders we are sexually attracted to!

The more I read the MangaStream version, the more I wish Soldier AND Rebecca would join the crew. I mean, yeah, Rebecca is nice and all, but I just love the Soldier character - how much he had to fight to rise Rebecca, he had to work, defend her and always be there for her and never asked for anything for himself. A rather tragic character, really.
Hmmm, the MS translation suggests teh Riku family's tyrannical rule had been ongoing for centuries before Doffy arrived. Interesting.

Not a bad overall chapter. Definitely seems to point towards my suspicion that Ricky is the ex-king and the toy soldier is Kyros (and Rebecca's father).
Still, after the last couple chapters, it felt like a bit of a letdown to me.
I'm just a little disappointed we didn't get to see Dofla's awesome goggles look from Chapter 0 in the flashback.

Im actually a little impressed with Caribou making headway against Scotch….........but what will he do about Kaido? Any way, pretty good chapter; it explains a lot about Rebecca, the Toy Soldier and the History of Dressrosa. Now I see why Rebecca refused the food; she likely still blames herself for her mom's death. It also made me want to see what that Diamante can do already.

Once again a surprisingly fun chapter. I thought I wouldn't like Rebecca's flashback but I ended up really enjoying it. I especially loved the bit where the toy solider punches the kid with the love letter acting like an overprotective father. The relationship between the toy solider and Rebecca was really nice and I'm guessing the toy soldier is either her father or her Grand father.
I was also surprised that the entire nation actually knows who Rebecca is. The fact that the crowd hates is just going to make it even worse when Rebecca eventually loses in block D because at the moment I just can't see her beating Cavendish.

He wasn't jealous. He was fending the suitor off.
Also the flashback was good enough as it is - brief and heartwarming. We've also had a little glimpse of Dressrosa's past through Rebecca's perspective. Obviously there's still a whole lot of information being held back - Oda's saving it for the grand reveal once we get to main man himself.
