Come to think of it.
Having one piece go on break felt sad and worrisome.
Having AP server went down felt worse.
Having AP went down during One Piece spoiler days, can't imagine.
So glad it's back.
Thanks brennen.exe
Downtime!

Glad its back.
Can someone explain what happened?
Brennen.exe stopped working:ninja:
-
Let me know if you want a hand with anything going forward. I'm technically a senior software engineer at a large multinational cloud provider these days and would be pleased as punch to be able to help out with this place; despite my lurky nature these days I still read pretty regularly :)
-
I'm so glad that the forums are back up! I was worried that I wouldn't be able to talk to one of my friends anymore! Thank you so much brennen.exe for bringing it back up! (I try to donate in the future to help keep the forums going.)
-
-
OK I made you all wait again. Search is working now.
-
There was no way to find out what happened to the site, it just vanished, thought about using Twitter to send the message out?
-
Site's back up. Sorry for the delay, I've been at a conference for work and am sick so I've been crashing immediately after. Robo looped me in though, so you can stop hitting F5 now.
-
Awesome, thanks brennen!
-
Thank you for all your hard work keeping this site up, brennen, it's greatly appreciated!
-
Thank yooouuuuuuuuuuuu sooo muuuuucccchh
-
I thought this site was dead, but it was actually too tough to die.
Thanks for all the hard work.

Yer not the boss of me
-
you can stop hitting F5 now.
Screw you, I'll press it as many times as I want. In fact, I'm coming to your house to press your F5, buddy.
-
Yer not the boss of me
As your actual boss, I must inform you that there have been several complaints about your recent F5-ing behaviour.
-
As a random onlooker, I must inform all of you that each and every citizen of Arlong Park Forums has the fundamental rights to F5-ing as long as it doesn't interfere with any other citizens' F5-right.
-
Phew, we're back. That was quite a stretch. I'm not entirely sure what happened, but I sure am grateful AP is back, and many thanks to Brennen and any one else who worked to get the site up and running and again. Much much love.
-
Wait, this site was dead, but then suddenly it was alive? I dunno that seems like kind of an asspull to me.
Nah, good to see ya back, thank for all the work!
-
Well the site was down over a picture of a dragon. I wonder if there are going to be another incident where someone post and picture and we don't even know if It's safe or not that someone ends up flagging the site.
-
thank you guys alot for all the effort bringing apforums back
much love <3 !! -
Missed you guys.
And how can a picture of a dragon result in a DMCA and an almost a month of downtime? -
This post is deleted!

Missed you guys.
And how can a picture of a dragon result in a DMCA and an almost a month of downtime?Basically our host just instantly sides with the DMCA and takes sites offline, regardless of whether the claim is valid (this one was pretty full of crap, considering it was linking a public image hosted by the owner).
We tried to dispute it but they were not interested; furthermore due to COVID the only form of support was email with an average response time of about 5 days per message. We finally removed the link, but it was not without difficulty on our end as well, since with the site disabled and nothing to go off of other than a thread URL, it took some technical sleuthing and rewiring to actually find and access the right post to remove, and then have them confirm that everything was fine.
Bren was also pretty busy, as can be expected given the current situation, but rest assured that the downtime was not because we were ignoring the issue. A huge thanks to Bren for continuing to host and maintain the server.

Thanks for the update, I never doubted that you guys weren't doing your part on the case.
-
Geez. How annoying. Probably all just algorithms too.
-
glad that the site is finally back.
-
I assumed brennen saw this, jumped up and accidently spilt a soda onto the server:
Been obvious for a long time, but yeah, you win :P
-
Now I get Kin'emon. Damn dragons
-
Welcome back, AP! Thanks for all the hard work, Brennen et al.
-
-
Glad apforums.net is back :=)
-
Oh boy. It feels so good to have the site back. Thanks for making it possible, people!
-
Thanks for all the work.
-
THANK YOU!!!!
I missed it so much, the best One Piece site ever!

I wonder who posted the picture or where it came from.

I think it says a lot that even though this forum was down for weeks, I kept refreshing the page several times a day to see if it was back up. APforums has become such an integral part of my everyday life that it felt truly weird to not be able to access the forums for such a long amount of time. Thank you brennen, Foolio and everybody else who worked hard to bring the site back!
This place is very dear to my heart and I know I'm not alone.
-
I missed this place so much. I'm so happy that it is finally back. It's so weird to visit it nearly everyday for years and then for it to be gone. Thank you for getting the site back up!
-
Can someone say what exactly was posted so I don't mess up and post it or anything like it
-
I do not get this DMCA stuff.
Someone posted a picture… And where was the problem?
-
I'm still arguing with our hosting site to get refunded for the last 30 days at least. They are insisting we "copied an infringing image onto our servers" and I've literally provided them a screenshot of the HTML code that shows the image is not hosted on our site so there's nothing to remove. It's copyright overreach so I'm filing a DMCA counter notice and also notified the complainant. To my knowledge copyright protection over URL's is a gray area, but it's only really enforceable when the URL itself is knowingly pointing at infringing content (IE: intentionally providing links to pirated music or video); in our case the link was to licensed content– we were basically advertising for the seller, yet they filed a DMCA.
We were given three days to correct the reported content before services were shut down, and I was late to see the email amidst work priorities. As of the beginning of March, in anticipation and then reaction to COVID/Coronavirus stuff, me and a few other engineers at work were building out a solution to allow ~1500 people at our offices to work remotely. We're also in the middle of a merger with another org, so it's been a busy month, otherwise I could have removed the "infringing content" much quicker and had us back online much sooner.
It was literally a URL to some eCommerce site that was selling the painting.

Thanks so much guys for getting it back up. When I get paid later this week I'm gonna be donating a bit to the site.

Maybe you should find someone who can do your job when your busy so you don't have to have so much burden.

Wow, I thought I was the only one that was checking couple times a day to see if the board was back. I'm happy that the board is back. Also thanks to everyone to that do the behind the scenes stuff to keep this message board around.
-
Just realized that we came back on 4/20. So does that mean this is all a drug-based shared hallucination? :ninja:
But for real, thanks so much for all the hard work getting things back up and running! We appreciate what you do.

The weird insight when a One Piece fan-forum remained the only constant in your life in the past 7+ years.
One Piece in general, actually.
Thanks for your efforts, Brennen & Friends. I know nothing lasts forever, this site will go down eventually at one point, but hopefully not like this. Not just poof and that's that.

haha, ove only been here for 7 years, but I have an other forum about a Naruto flash game, which I am active since 2006, crazy 14 years!
It is a shame a lot fo forums and communities died throughout the years, let's hope for Ap to stay alive as long as possible!
Thank you for the site to be back on!
-
So, can I have that image's name and search criteria to use it as a destruction weapon on other forums?
-
Oh my god. I don' know if I can remember a time before apforums went down. I don't know how I'll readjust.
…eh, I'll manage.
-
This downtime took years off my life.
But now the forum's back, and the anime's on hiatus.
-
Thank you for your hard work, Brennen. I'm sorry you have to deal with all this.
Are there precautions we should take to make sure we don't post another picture or anything that could get this site another dmca?
