Potential > Hype =/= Potential. Tell me, Daz, what about Kidd's popularity is just hype? There certainly is some involved, but I'd say Kidd is actually one of the rare examples of hype being substantiated by on panel action.

I think we should stop hiding our personal preferences behind buzzwords. And hype is highly subjective word.
For one, I just like Kid more for thing he already is, not for what he can be.
But if Perona wins it will be only fair. -

Oh, make no mistake, Kidds paneltime has been spent being considerably more entertaining than several of the other supernovas, and I certainly like him more than someone like Law based on personality alone. Despite that I just feel that he's slightly (if entertainingly) deriative, and that too much hinges on badass stuff he might do in the future.
Someone like Perona has no potential for future relevance outside a final showdown, but like other wrapped-up characters, I consider that a strength. Many of the major arc-overarching characters tend to lose me after a while, becoming less than they once were (just look at the Straw Hats) whereas arc-specific characters like Genzo, Kureha, Gedatsu etc just have their one off moment of undiluted greatness.
But thats just my personal preference.

I'm not saying Perona is Kureha level btw, but she served her role as an eccentric thug well, and gave Usopp a decent fight.
