Pretty good setup chapter. Finally reveal that Toy Soldier is in fact Kyros. Pretty much everyone thought that so it was good to get some closure on that.
Did anyone else notice Robin in her earlier outfit when she woke up Ussop? Basically means she herself has been hiding somewhere while her clone disguised herself alongside Ussop. Man her power just keeps getting more and more impressive. Leads me to believe that she could possible face off against Trebol. Despite what many other people think about her.

I'm glad the explanation about the one legged soldier being free is that sugar forgot to make a contract. If you think about it, even sugar probably forgets about the people when they are turned into toys, and probably forgets that she just turned someone into a toy too, so it must be hard to do something with them right after transforming them.
This was an OK chapter, but it could’ve been better. Kyros being the toy soldier is not surprising to me at all and seeing Robin in her previous clothes instead of her disguise was quite awkward. I'm guessing that she must have dressed up the clone like a guard while she hides somewhere.
Anyway, this chapter gets a 3/5 from me. I hope the next one is better.
When you attack a leg with a staff/pipe/hammer is your intention to cut the other person leg? No, is to knock him out, or at least for him to loose balance.
It's all good, but I can't help but wonder what that sword is for then? And if she's really that stupid that she expected she would make it work somehow even after seeing first hand Diamante's ability, and him helpfully explaining it?
I guess she could stab someone, if she actually wanted to hurt anyone. But here, she finally charges to hurt someone, but she wouldn't actually hurt them bad, since the blade is dull. Seems conflicting, to say the least.
And there's the fact she just told Soldier he doesn't have a chance against Dofla in a flashback. But she will, once she got mera mera? Because? Again, conflicting.
Instead of watching an actual fight, I have to see her dragging along pathetically while the rest of the fighters stand around and comment. It's like Marineford all over again.

i really think the Sanji situation is one of the most interesting things Oda has ever done
for the first few weeks I was expecting to see Sanji at any moment, but now the chapters are piling up since we last saw his group
it's a really fresh approach to an arc. half the crew is not even going to fight the villains of the central plot, and, not only that, they're heading to an entirely different island as well. That's not even to mention Big Mom's ship. I think Oda's set this up such that he really can't go wrong. the fact that it's been so long since we last saw them (and it's not exactly like they're just sailing or doing something mundane) suggests that what goes down on that ship could be totally fucking crazy. whatever the case, it's going to steer us into the next arc, and the fact that Oda's done it so well in advance pretty much ensures it's going to come off as a really nice, fluid transition. pretty excited
Anyway… Trebol is a real monster with his fruit and I will still say... No way he will be beaten by Robin or Usopp. Usopp will take out Sugar after the little speech of Leo... And he showed to be smart as well... Some people say he is an idiot standing next to the matched up liquid but I bet... As in CC case that it doesn't effect him and he protected Sugar as well cuz of this. It won't be a weakness

Honestly, all I gather overall is that people don't like characters which are emotionally flawed, both Rebecca and the Tontottas. It all lines up to their characterization so far, too. Hell, I get the Usopp complaint at this point, actually, it's just growing to be too much - that's because Usopp already went through his arc, this kind of situation. There is no need to build him up like this and go back in character development to let him shine more once he does overcome his cowardliness again. His cowardliness doesn't have to be gone, but more reserved. I'd be very disappointed if he'd fall back to Sogeking. It means he has gone backwards in development.

Interesting sidenote: they talked about, soldier san having to take some kind of shot directly at Flamingo as soon as Leo and co. take out Sugar. So i am tinking that the toy soldier/kyros has some special attack (like the king punch?) or some special kind of weapon that is dangerous for Doflamingo. They worked on this plan for a long time. We also dont know, what the toyification process does to your power level. Maybe you get much weaker becoming a toy and Kyros is a real beast. We still know to little but i dont think Kyros is fodder even though he got his ass handed to him by Lao G.

Trebol may be strong but he can be easily outwitted. People got to remember that strength isn't always the key factor to winning a fight. Luffy is a perfect example of how someone so strong can be beaten by a plain simple trick. Robin outwitted Trebol once and she can do it again. I don't think she's shown all she's got just yet. I wouldn't rule her out so soon.

The dwarves are not weak, they are great fighters ....just stupid. Its not really Usopp's fault he didnt' notice they're really dumb enough to a-announce plans TO the enemy and b-fall for enemy's tactics to confirm/gain info.
As was once pointed out, when a friend they are helping has some fighting skills, the Strawhats will allow that person to fight their fights, only stepping in when the friend needs it. So Usopp allowing the dwarves going in isn't something new to him (the "he's not beign brave!" argument) nor is it new to other SHs.
Yes, his whining IS annoying (and I'm a Usopp fan!) but its not something new.
There is a pattern of an ally (or future ally as in Oimo/Kashi's case) is taken down, Usopp hears what really motivates them, sees they are down and cant' fight anymore and that motivates Usopp to move on and fight for the ally's sake.
I do hope Oda keeps to that old style there, if so, then we will be seeing Usopp in action soon.
Well I hope Ussop still has his sea stone cuffs as a regular part of his arsenal. I wanna see him take on some powerful DF users.

It was a great chapter but the pace is kind slow again.
• Trebol doesn't seems to be THAT stupid anymore, he used the little peoples weakness as his advantage (Anyone would have done it, right), I read that Fire might be his weakness but it doesn't seem like a weakness at all but something that he can use as an advantage against slower fighters.
• I like the touch that Oda added when Sugar kicked Trebol
• Don't know how but Leo didn't let go of the grape and it seems that this speech will lead Usopp to shot the grape into Sugars mouth while doing a great pose afterward
• That flashback was totally useless, we already knew all that, so there wasn't a real reason for Oda to add it (At least I don't see it)
• Rebeca is really going to win this tournament even though she is fighting with a blunt sword but the thoughts are the ones that count I guess
• Luffy and co seems to be moving closer to Doflamingo or the whole castle just quakes when Pica touches it

I wouldn't say flashbacks were unnecessary. They were a great touch for me.
Reveal of Toy Soldier's true identity was hardly a surprise at this point. But the characters were still dull. This chapter helped with that. I really am able to emphasize with Kyros right now. His Toy Soldier portrayal is touching. Going through hell that doll face which lacks even not just his identity even the emotions.
It's weird being able to talk to her like that why he didn't explained to Sugar's power to her all this time. Feeling embarrased out of failing to save his wife can only block him for not so long.
The only thing I would prefer with pacing is if we didn't have to go through with all these so Usopp can get motivation. I'm okay him being scared to his pants WHILE he IS trying to accomplish the plan. But not this. Some things has to change in my perspective in Usopp's case.
what are the chances of usopp growing some fucking balls and helping robin take out trebol?

Really liked this chapter, it really made me care about the soldier and Rebecca more than any chapter before it. Now I'm actually rooting for them. And oh how sweet it will be to see Kyros murder Lao G. So excited! Sadly, this chapter neither confirmed or refuted a possible Robin fight. Shoot. Still hoping!

I'm not reading MP/MS anymore (well, I never did) so I don't know if they screwed up anything important, sooo… if you have any questions about specific lines/details, just fake-quote me to get my attention and ask away ;)
You guys realise, that blunt sword is still pretty dangerous weapon, right? It probably would be enough to seriously injure unprotected by armours average gladiators at Corrida Colosseum. It's logical, that Rebecca, who doesn't want to restore to kill would wield such weapon (after all if she had no choice, but to attack her opponent, she wouldn't want to cause death (not that massacring someone with is impossible, it would be ugly, thought)). After all entering the ring was not only to fight one of Doflamingos's Men, but also some others (even if she would be able to bring herself to kill Diamante, she wouldn't want to kill "Lucy" or Barto, who hadn't done anything bad to her or her country).
Sure she is naive. But she is 16, and not as genre savvy as we are.

Refreshing to see an intelligent post from someone who has a grasp on charachter development so thank you. It unfortunately does seem Oda is setting us up for Sogeking though… findinga whole race that is genetically gullable just screams for Usoland to continue to f... with them, and what better way than to bring back Oda's favorite alter ego Sogeland? I personally won't mind which split personality mans up but Oda is definitly setting up one of them for glory here and considering he needs more shooting victories (my opinion) to live up to his father/ to become the worlds greatest sniper, shooting Sugar in the mouth and ending her cutesy enslavement over a country would be a huge trophy story for a sniper.
I think Trevor (lol) is just super rash and hasty. He is obviously suuuuper sticky and made that running joke about him being too close to people pretty funny ...they didn't want to be stuck to him, that would be some kind of hell
What about Kinemon vs Trebol?
Trebol is able to match up his liquid and seems to not give a damn about it as some people speculate to be a weakness.
So what if Kinemon will fight him? Kinemon not only can create fire but cut fire as well… So it would be perfect and we still need to see his DF powers in a real fight
This is what I think may happen. While Trebol definitely seems to outclass Robin and Usopp, there's no reason to think he'd be overpowered versus a flame wielding/canceling swordsman from Wano. And the fact that he threw that whole "flammable" line out there seems way too convenient.

Anyway unlike most people here, I don't really hate Rebecca. She's boring yes but for me it's not a reason to outright hate a character. I just don't particularly care about her. I actually would've liked her more in this chapter if it wasn't for that really dumb stunt she pulled. (Cutting someone's leg with dull blade? Seriously? :getlost:)
So Trebol's goo is flammable? At least Robin and Usopp (especially him) have a chance to defeat him now.

The actual "big reveal" of the chapter was made pretty obvious from the get-go so it's not like this chapter really wowed me or anything, but at least the plot has moved forward and we got this plot point out of the way so that more unpredictable action can take place.
And I see people are bitching about Usopp again. Ech, I really don't feel like spending a ton of time stating my defense so I'll just say that I still think it's absurd that people are saying that Usopp's character has regressed just because he's acting scared like he usually does. I can get some people finding him annoying I guess but to say that he's regressing is not true at all. We might as well say that Nami, Chopper and Brook all regressed because they were constantly screaming for their lives for multiple chapters back when Doflamingo was attacking the Sunny.

Just keep in mind Jump is for young and old audiences, we Apforumers may be One Piece savvy, but just think of all the readers who haven't put it together yet and have had their minds blown by the Toy Soldier/ Kyros reveal! :D

I think people's biggest problem with Rebecca is probably due to her being a goody-two-shoes kind of character. I really don't have a problem with her being that way but I'm willing to bet that if she was given one quirk that people wouldn't rag on her so much. I think her relationship with the Toy Soldier more than validates the way that she behaves, and her flashback with him in particular was really cool.

It kind of puts a tarnish on the two years of training seeing them get there asses kicked/ seeing them be afraid after all hat training…Usoland is just getting the most hate from fans because he talked a BIG talk after the time skip and isn't backing it up at the moment but he will pull through. One thing that sets the strawhats from most pirate crews is they recognize danger and strength. Yeah Sanji, Nami, and Chopper were worried about Flamingo coming at there ship, they arent idiots and understand power levels. They know if it werent for the sake of good story telling Flamingo could have killed all three of them and destroyed the sunny. If they never fear anything it will not only make them.more vulnerable (like all the crews that underestimate the Strawhats) it will also make them less interesting.
Setup chapters are usually my favorites so I really enjoyed this one. The dialouge was great and the flashback was also great with the buildup to Rebecca attacking Diamante was nice. I enjoyed it.

I like to think that ALL the Straw Hats talked a big talk after the timeskip (well, save for Sanji due to his nosebleed extravaganza, which is thankfully done and over with now) and pretty much all of Fishman Island was meant to say "They got stronger over the two years they've been training and we'll show you this by having them wipe out 100k fishmen". That was fine then but if that was something that continued into future arcs then it would be boring as hell; good dramatic tension comes from characters being put in situations where they're clearly outmatched and have to fight onwards through some sort of combination of luck, strategy and willpower. And I'm pretty happy to see that Doflamingo is still this incredibly influential and powerful motherfucker even after the Straw Hats spent two years training. It would be extremely disappointing if they arrived at Dressrosa and everything was a cakewalk; Doffy deserves better than that, and so do the Straw Hats.

This chapter was just not that impactful for me since I figured out Toy Soldier was Kyros a looooonnnnnggg time ago; the dialogue between him and Rebecca was pretty powerful though. I have a feeling that Diamante is gonna make common villain mistake number 7 and reveal the shit he did to somebody that they were not aware of while fighting them. I hope it pisses Rebecca off to drop the boring combat style of never injuring opponents and a sword with no edge and get her to fight more excitingly.

Do you honestly think that Usopp is going to run away and leave the Tontatta for dead with Trebol and Sugar? That doesn't even make any sense! He told Leo that THEY should run away because Trebol is really damn strong and he's worried about them; it's not like he was saying "Sorry Leo I'm leaving I hope that you and the rest of the Tontatta can take care of this!" after seeing what he has seen. Leo gave him the reason for the Tontatta staying to fight, and like you said, Usopp is not the kind of person who would run away when friends are in danger. I'm willing to bet that the next time we see him that he's going to make some sort of move. Keep in mind that Usopp is not a head-on fighter and if he actually did fight Trebol and/or Sugar head-on he would be taken out really quickly.
Plus, even if you still aren't convinced for some reason, Robin is there. Even in the very minute chance that Usopp was that big of a coward that he'd want to leave and risk the lives of the Tontatta, there's no way Robin would let him leave. This is their mission that they have to carry out one way or another.
