A few weeks ago, I thought up a series idea that's simmilar to One Piece. I wouldn't call it a fanfic, but more of an inspiration. The characters are like them, and so is the setting. Once I get through to writing it, I'll tell you some more. I haven't come up with the characters' names yet, but I have some idea on their personalities.
Inspiration by One Piece.

@Senshi:
I was inspired by Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 7; 9 and 10, I was inspired by Digimon, Zetch Bell almost got me, same as fullmetal Alchimst, I was inspired by LOTR, and I was now inspired by One Piece.
The point is when I think about creating a story, there is a storng inspirtion that I have to make a story similer to One Piece. Like I end up making a Franky like character that looks so like Franky. For example I would end up picturing a Franky with a black hair and a red skin. It's hard for me to create my own ideas plue my ideas don't match with these series. It's embarressing and painful when I end up mixing One Piece with my ideas, all I wish was a orginal ideas with inspirtion based on what I see.
-
I know; it can be embarassing when you use your own ideas, and get inspiration by other people's ideas.
This isn't the first time this has happened. I was inspired by Fushigi Yugi, and it ended up being a mix of that, Escaflowne, Rurouni Kenshin, Sailor Moon, and Teen Titans.
I tried doing a sequel to that series. I was trying to do my own, shonen version of Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon, and almost ended up re-telling it with my own characters. I'm thinking of ending it now, since it's getting way too frustrating to continue.
But, I'll go through with the One Piece inspiration. I'll probably use some elements from Fullmetal Alchemist, too.
-
Bump~!
I've come up with the characters' personalities, and they're based one the ones that the OP characters have. The main character is a 12 year-old who acts kind of like Luffy, but has more common sense. Most of the secondary characters will be his partners, and'll probably be 14-20 or something. I still haven't come up with any good names, though.
-
sounds nice man
:3
me I was inspired by alot of things
O.o
Ive been inspired by videogames, certian web comics, and One Piece n.n;;;
considering my original character is a pirate..type..thing.. yeah XD -
I got a very nice story in my head which I want to get good enough to make a comic, its my dream, I started thinking it up when I was around 11 or 12 and I'll be 15 soon and I got the entire story finally finished in my head and its very long but after seeing One Piece its been changing alittle but mainly all that changed is I originally have all the foes get killed in the end of the battle but seeing how Oda hardly kills anyone its rubbed off on me and now alot of people are not dieing well…not till later XD. If anyone knows of any good "how to draw manga" sites on the net please share and for some odd reason if you know of any art surplie stores that I might get supplies around Cincinnati, Ohio please tell meeee XD.
-
I'll pretty much end up re-creating One Piece with a few of my own ideas mixed in. But, itll still have some sense of originality.
-
Update: I've finally come up with the official name for my new Series: Paradise Dreamers.
-
I was inspired by Flint the Time Detective(from the start. It has vastly evolved from there), One Piece, Futurama, and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and came up with Final Fantasy:XD. It's about a Luffy/me/Fry type character named Yoh Dood who discovers he has a dangerous 2nd personality. But there are no cures known to Doctor or Phsycyatrist, so he is frozen in a tube much like Fry. in the year 2542 and becomes apart of the strangest family of even that time. An over rated inventor, Professor Izzy Sdupit; his giniepig, Yoshi; and her sibling, Alex. They have a robot crybaby butler called RU-2D. It is later discovered that Yoh is meant to destroy verious types of evil while his other personality is ment to destroy various other types of evil. Excellent quotes you can expect from this:
"WHAT KIND OF SICK BASTARD TURNS A WHALE INTO AN ICEBURG?!?!"
"Just release me and I won't fart in your general direction."
"There's nothing boot reer can't do! I heard it once cured a man with Bug in Mouth Desease from having no arms. Or was it the other way around?"
"I think your hair ate my breakfast."(it's about a running sight gag where Yoshi's hair is always difernt and bizarre each time you see it.)It has badguys such as Santa Claws, Arshort(son of Arlong), Yudinnar(rival of Mihawk), and Huggy the Clown.
-
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was primarily the inspiration I got for a One Piece arc about a gang war in a city. (With plenty of twists and turns.) And the whole reason Luffy's even caught in this mess is because some of the gang members stole the ship. XD
-
Another update: I'm thinking of naming my main character Jakobi. I know it's a strange name, but there'll be some Japanese ones there, too.
-
Hmmmmm, Jakobi…
XD
Good luck with your project. -
Jakobi is my cat's name. But, my brother named him. I don't think he knew it was a beer, though.
-
I've just started working on it a few weeks ago. There's a character I'm about to introduce who's supposed to be like Helmeppo. But, she's bitchy, and acts kind of like Paris Hilton.
-
I have a couple of stories, all part of 1 series. The series is sort of inspired by Neon Genesis Evangelion (it has a semi-religious theme.) But it was One Piece that inspired me to create the series. Also, one storyline is heavily inspired by the Arlong Arc, and the main character of the series has a fighting style similar to Sanji (all feet).
-
There are two more characters that I thought of:
One of them is a stupid, gullible, and frantic swordswoman. Her personality is a mix of Shciezca from Fullmetal Alchemist, and Dory from Finding Nemo.
The other one is inspired by Usopp, but he's more of a coward and bluffer than a liar. He's the type of guy who creates different types of weapons, and pulls through in the end. I think he's like Usopp, and Ron Stoppable.
-
I have a pretty long story, probably inspired from most videogames and mangas I've read. Even though I've thought up the most of the story, each individual fighting style, the energy system (selfmade energy named "Kito", probably would remind people of Nen, seeing as that was my main inspiration), the world etc, no character has a name yet because…Well, quite frankly, I suck when it comes to names. I always end up taking other characters names.
Basic story:
The story would start with the character with the creative name-so-far "Barrier" (due to his Kito being like a barrier around him) searching for the first-arc villain Anon (short for Anonymous. At first I wanted to make the villian have a vast idenitity problem, and thinking he was just an anonymous guy in the masses, with the kito ability of making mirages of himself or any object he touches), and meeting up with "Penta" (short for Pentagram. It's related to his fighting style), "Blaze" (more craptastic names just connected to his fighting style --) and a swordsman without any charasteristic special fighting style. After about half of that arc, the real main character would show up, with no name yet. He would be a cursed man using a legendary item to find what he's looking for (man, that sounds so damn cliché --), and be generally kickass and overpowered (although the show would be adventorous, and thus not have all that much fighting). The story always revovles around

, although he seldom really is the main character.
Much inspiration comes from One Piece (the adventure parts would be very similar to OP's, and perhaps some of the pasts's as well). Another idea I got from OP is that, instead of presenting them the normal way, the characters backstories would be explained as coverstories, just like OP's sidestories with Jango and such. No idea if it would work, but I guess it could be fun atleast :3
_> I thought of writing it as a novel, but sadly, I'm not all that talented at writing =/

I've had this idea about a guy trying to take over the world. I had some rather interesting characters and details in it, but I kept feeling like I was ripping stuff off One Piece a little. It has a big basis of "super-powers" (I've had this wierd "super power" fetish lately…), but actually puts them together a little more (as does another idea I had).
The main cast:
-Main guy: is actually the son of a famous hero that died a few years before the story begins. He's become angry at "heroes" because of this, but acts all happy-go-lucky most of the time. He has powers, but instead uses a special device in battle that allows him to control gravity.
-The first to join him is a guy with the ability to create swords out of anything. The first fight these two team up on is against a superhero and his side-quick (this part started to feel too much like One Piece...). Is also one of the oldest of the main group (about 40 something).
-A kid joins later who can do "meteor attack", i.e. make explosions and often uses them to cause himself to fly into enemies. His parents are both "villains" in this world and his sister is a powerful government agent with the ability to control the wind (she doesn'nt want her brother to go the same path as their parents, but...).
-A girl who can transform into three beast-human forms: cat, wolf, and rabbit. Worked for an underground (literally) organization run by more "beast-morphers" (again, feels too much like OP...).
-The first guy to actually want to join them is one that most of the characters seem to be creeped out by. He doesn't really have a "power", but he has four worm-like creatures wrapped around each of his limbs that do (there names are Eeny, Meeny, Miney, and Mo :P ). Overly fascinated by bugs.
-Another girl, a strong gunner, doesn't join till the urging of her uncle to keep her safe. Basically, her uncle and his group were trying to take over a certain town, and do to some odd events, the main group gets in a fight with them, but the tide is turned when three powerful "Heroes" show up, and pretty much annihilate her uncle and his team (of course, the main crew later takes them on :D ).
-A prisoner who knew his crime and tried to keep his punish. Due to some revealing events, he eventually escapes his prison and joins the group. He has a massive ball-chain on his ankle (cuz he was a prisoner, after all) that he manages to turn into an effective weapon. -
You have some pretty interesting ideas, Myoti. I like the fact that the star hates heroes. And the guy with the worms around his waist. Very creative. Although, there are quite a few obvious OP rip-offs there.
-
For simplicity's sake, I stuck this in as another post. I'm more interested in becoming a game designer, but just to say if I somehow could make an anime, this would probably be one of them (ALOT of stuff is missing so far, so… also, the only real "inspiration" from OP would just be trying to be unique, I suppose...):
It's based around a boy named Kol, who's incredibly rich grandfather has just died. Instead of simply giving the inheirtance, however, the grandfather offers it to anyone who can locate his 10 "Treasures" hidden around the globe, with only an encrytic compass to guide them.
Kol, however, has been left with a few key things, namely two "bodyguards" loyal to the late grandfather, Atlus (a strict, yet greedy and womanizing butler with a very "elegant" sort of fighting style) and Hahr Moen (a sckysophrantic-whatever guy with a multi-weapon device; there's more to his multiple personalities than you might think, however...), as well as a strange white dog named Gato (yes, his name is cat :P ) and a collar... for Kol, not the dog.
The dog is actually a "Familiar", a rare creature in their world that the grandfather was fond of. By using the collar, Gato can enter Kol's body (via the naval) and transform him into a powerful man-beast. This may seem simple at first, but later on Kol battles against another Familiar-user (this one with a dragon, however...) and learns there's more to it than he thought...
Some other characters:
-Bantam R. Baeley, aka "Ringmaster" - the grandfather's rival. Wants the treasures for some unknown purpose and uses his group, the Circam, to do so.
-The first fight is between one of Baeley's best men (don't have a name yet) and both Atlus and Hahr (who actually won is up for debate, though). This particular guy has regenerative abilites and can also seperate parts of his body, creating clones of himself. He's also has quite a complex background shown over the course of the story.
-There are several government type characters that may help or hinder the protagonists, depending on the situation. Three notable ones are Mak, Mia, and Mel.
-Mak: Happy-go-lucky gunsmen who hates to kill, so he prefers to use some rather odd ammo (rubber bullets, smoke, paint, sticky crap, etc.).
-Mia: odd woman who believes the tamest of comments are rude statements and something that actually is rude is funny. Main form of fighting is simply to grab someone (or get them in a "bear-hug") and squeeze them to death (incredibly strong grip; foreshadowed when she shakes Harh's hand for the first time. XD ). Is the only person who understands Mel when he mumbles.
-Mel: Incredibly lazy guy. So much so that he rarely finishes his own sentences clearly and won't actually strike anyone unless it's absolutely necessary. Main fighting style is simply to spit something from his mouth with incredible force and accuracy (in one case, it happens to be his own tooth). Only punches one time (spoiler though… hehehe...).Other stuff too...
Although, there are quite a few obvious OP rip-offs there.
I know. sigh
That's why I've kinda thrown that one on the back-burner for now. -
Well, with ideas as good as those, I'm sure you can find a way to make the idea original.
Nice names. I wish I had some names that good for my characters and teams. I got stuff like Torpar, Arcchu, and…...... Highnasty!!!
When I was much younger (circa 1994), I had an idea for a cartoon. Didn't know what anime was back then. But I had 2 characters who were talking dogs. I gave them these weird names and I don't remember how the hell I came up with them. I remember telling the names to my mom and she laughed. They were Miggus and Moogus. (Say it fast, it sounds weird)
-
-The first to join him is a guy with the ability to create swords out of anything.
I love such an ability. I've used it for a couple of people so far in my thought-up-story.
Or well, they use Kito, but it can basically be descriped as "out of nothing" ;D
- First person: A guy I thought up to be made of puns. Basically, his attacks would be writing the name of it, and upon "charging" the name, he could throw it at an opponent and it would become whatever was written. Of course, he would suck at spelling and thus get many "hilarius" moments of using worthless things. (probably would work better in japanese due to the whole kanji system..).
- Second person: Fights using a cable modem. "Downloads" his weapons, such as swords, cars and small evil dolls. His partner would be a master of Drunken Fist, and change style depending on what he drank (with Whisky being his ultimate fighting style, and Beer the most general one :3).
A shame I thought up fighting abilites so much, yet wants to make a more adventorous show without much fighting
-
I LOVE that Modem/Drunken Rage combo. That sounds insanely hilarious, though what with the Modem thing, it would really only work in a VR-type manga, kinda like .Hack//sign or something…
I have lots of strange ideas in my head, though I sometimes seem to be unable to "break the norms"... I have this theory that even the most ridicilous concept can work out if you do it right. However, I seem unable to think up anything fittingly ridicilous.
Damn, I'd love designing fighting game characters once... ;.;
-
I also came up with a drunken fighter in my anime. And for some reason, I made him Australian.
"I can quit anytime I want hic, mate!"
-
Neophos, those are awespme, and highly creative.
I really want to do video games, but many of my ideas only seem to work in an animated medium instead of interactive. :P
-
I make fun of 4Kids' edits in my series. There's one scene when three cops are arguing how to punish a kid instead of shooting him.
Cop 1: We can't shoot him, he's just a kid!
Cop 2: I know we can….......What the hell are we supposed to do? We can't shoot a kid!
Cop 1: Maybe we can shoot him with a cork gun? Or stab him with a rubber knife.
Cop3: Forget it, he's already left. But I know the perfect weapon we could've used on him: Poison suction cups!
Cop 1: Iya, that one's pretty bad. Who the hell came up with those weapons?
-
Eshbaal - Well, the story would progress from medieval to future, and those guys would be in the last arc, so it would fit. I hope :3 But then again, does a Cyborg powered by cola fit in a pirate manga? ~_^ Apperently it does.
"I can quit anytime I want hic, mate!"
XD
Myoti - Thanks =D Now I just gotta learn how to draw, or get someone to draw for me.. ;D
-
I can quit anytime I want hic, mate!
XD
Wow, I never thought anybody would find that funny. Maybe I should post some of the other dialogue….. Nah, the rest is even dumber. I'm still working on it.
-
Myoti - Thanks =D Now I just gotta learn how to draw, or get someone to draw for me.. ;D
I can draw! But I don't have a scanner yet… -.-;
Do you have MSN?
-
Well, here's the first chapter of my series.

Sorry for the lack of description. When I ran out of my own ideas, I just borrowed some parts from One Piece.
-
I actually just recently had a OP-inspired idea. A character for an oroginal story series I've been thinking on. Nothing done on it yet, but ideas are still forming. The character is the father of one of the main characters, a young girl named Ticia.
Her father is named Bento Salud. He was a famous pirate who made his live on the sea. It has absolutely nothing to do with the massive hay fever he experieneced whenever on dry land. He raised his daughter on his vessel, her serving as she grew as the crew's cabin girl.
The name Salud contains my favorite thing in the whole wide world, a Hoedown! er… a double-pun.
Pun #1: Replace the L with R and you get Sarud. Or Saru D. Or Monkey D.
Pun #2: Salud is the Spanish equivalent of "Bless you" (hence the hay fever)
