Not restricted to just Strawhats, a lot of other characters have had their past revealed.
Among the Strawhats, I think Brook had the saddest one because he was alone for so long. Second to him, probably Chopper or Franky. I also think the history of Noland is kind of sad because he was telling the truth the whole time and died for it.
A lot of Robin fans will say that she had the saddest past. But it's got to be Brook hands down. Half a century alone is insane
Nami saw his mother's death before she want to make up (apologize?) with her… and Nami's the reason why she got killed. And then she's forced to play nice with the killer...
Robin experience the same, but she never see/know her mother since she's 2 years old (baby?) ...

I will have to go with Nami on this one, yes Robin & Brook's pasts were terrible but nothing would compare to seeing your 'mum' get killed right in front of you, thats some Bruce Wayne shit right there.
i consider franky's past as the saddest one.
It's a tie for me between brook and norland.
Then franky and nami.
Robin and chopper.
Luffy sanji ussopp and zoro is pretty mild.
Brook, nami, robin, chopper, franky. almost cried in robin, brook and chopper's flashback.
I would say that Chopper had the saddest part.
All he wanted was to be treated properly. Robin's, Brook's, and Franky's past were all sad but I think that Chopper takes the cake.:wassat:

Usopp was branded a liar by his community and lies to his mother in order to keep her alive however she still died. The only thing he looks up to is his father and he hasn't seen him in forever.
Sanji was saved by a legendary pirate who lost everything in order to rescue him. Zeff even lost his leg.
I just don't understand how their parts weren't sadder than Luffy's.
I would also have to say Brook's backstory. Slowly watching your crew die around you until you're the only one left, aimlessly floating the sea in solitude for 100 years and unable to die. Plus losing his shadow and almost his afro, he had it pretty rough for awhile. It makes the Thriller Bark celebration one of the most impactful scenes of the series, to me at least when he finally finds a new crew.

Well Luffy did lose Sabo. His past also seemed sadder because it was revealed right after Ace died so it meant more. Being branded a liar isn't necessarily a bad thing for him, I feel like he never cared and is sometimes even proud of lying. He also lost his mother to illness, but almost all the Strawhats lost someone, so, yes while it is sad that he lost his mom, some of them have lost even more.
But I do agree that Luffy's past wasn't really too sad. Meh. I feel like Sanji had more of a rough past than a sad one, because after those 80 days on that rock he had a pretty cool life.
