Alright, I waited as long as I could, but this offseason has made me incredibly excited about Stars hockey for the first time in years. So, with the teams back on the ice, and October only 39 days away, I decided that the world's best, yet most underappreciated sport, get its thread for the upcoming season.

So, who's bringing the Cup home? Will the Hawks repeat? Are they forming a dynasty? Will a team other than the Hawks, Bruins, Kings, or Penguins finally get to hold the cup for what seems like the first time in a long, long time?

And finally, am I alone in my excitement?

The dog days are killing me. I wish the pre-season games began already.

Red Wings gotta win because they're the only sports team I follow with a slightly more than a pure theoretical chance to win anything this season.

As an Ottawa fan and Swede i feel kind of dishearted since Alfie both and Silfverberg left… Might just follow Pens for some time until I get my team spirit back. Not too excited about Ryan either.

To be honest I rather look forward to the Olympics. My beloved homeland won the world cup so why not the Olympics too? 😄

As a longtime die-hard duck fan (och som en finne >:P …jag vet inte varför jag sade det, det spelar ingen roll), I don't really understand why you would say this. While it's certainly true that Bobby is not a real replacement for Alfie at least yet (I feel for you guys, your GM got you shafted), he's certainly not a bad player by any stretch of the imagination. He's not a crybaby, he's incredibly skilled, and he always works really hard for the team. It's just the fact that the media had been swarming around him, spawning countless totally baseless rumours about his potential trade for years without our GM interfering at any point that made him frustrated. Yeah, he's not a Swede, but you're not going to be disappointed with him.

I wish you the best of luck since your division is going to be incredibly tough this year. I'm fairly confident that Karlsson and the rest will be able to pull you guys through. Here's hoping Silfverberg and Noesen can do the same for us.

Ryan's definitely an incredibly skilled player, i wish we (habs, beware of hardcore fans :ninja: ) could've gotten ahold of him, but with galchenyuk and gallagher having some experience and steady progress, eller exploding onto the scene, there's hope yet. Maybe not for the cup but a solid playoff spot.

I've been going over cup candidates with my friends for about 2 weeks now, in the east we've narrowed it down to boston, detroit, and possibly toronto as a sleeper. West we had kings, hawks and blues.

Pains me to put boston and tdot up there, but they deserve credit, and toronto got rid of crybovski. If marchand could break something it'd be great too.

                  Veni, Vedi, Vici.

Lots of celebration going on here. Even though I despise the Kings I've been taken in by it. They put together one of the most unforgettable playoff runs ever. And these finals were amazing. The 4-1 series victory does not even come close to describing how edge of the seat every game (except for 3) was.

Lundqvist is a truly phenomenal goalie. But his team let him down.

                            And in overtime (three times).

The Texas Stars (woot!) have won the Calder Cup 4 games to 1. I was a series as fantastic as the Stanley Cup finals, with 3 games also going to OT

This has been a fantastic year for Hockey. It was the only major/minor sport this year to have exciting playoffs throughout, including two unforgettable Finals series, not to forget the Olympics, which had many unforgettable games.

Every year I hope this sport gets a little more popular, and every year I think it does, just by a bit. Who knows, maybe next year we'll reach page two.
