TED Talks! Let's discuss them. Your first is about the loveliness of clouds
What are you waiting for? Drop the internet and gaze skywards
But then return to discuss them

I support you, Giblord. I love Ted Talks! I'll be back when I'm not lazy and I feel like learning.
ITT: water -> clouds :ninja:
Clouds are OK. I never really stop to gaze at them, though.
I've only watched a few TED videos before, I might have a secret fear that if I browse it too intensely I'll find a talk which I absolutely can't stand and that will turn me off other TED videos.
I once had an assignment for a module on positive psychology, where we had to watch Daniel Kahneman's speech on happiness. The guy is a psychologist who won a Pulitzer prize for economics because there's no category for psych :P I found it thoroughly enjoyable and enriching.~

There's plenty of terrible TED Talks, including one talking up the retarded "Aquatic Ape" human evolution theory, and one that was just a melange of New Agey physics-sounding garbage
Yeah, that's my concern. But I wouldn't mind looking up a few recommended ones. Do you have a classic/favourite?

Anything by Dan Ariely. ANYTHING by Dan Ariely (he's got a ton of talks about human behavior)
Then there's this talk by the great exposer of frauds, James Randi
What if we have fighting diabetes backwards?
On the power of acceptance (made me tear up)

All of that looks pretty interesting. I'll definitely look those up soon, thanks! I'm interested in human behaviour so I'll look up Dan Ariely's videos too :) Is he a doctor or something?

He's a sociologist
I need to travel for almost two hours in bus every day to work and these videos keep me entertained. I am a huge foodie and there are some very interesting videos where there are some guys cooking vegetarian food and presenting it like non vegetarian and there was one about a fish in Europe somewhere known for its taste purely because of the way its naturally grown. I enjoy watching entrepreneurship related videos also since I am planning to get into business in the near future.
Knowledge in the cloud is one heck of a nice topic! I even took a session similar to that at my work citing some studies from TED.
Talk about a colorful route in life
I wonder if I will ever meet Temple Grandin.
How many pancreatic cancer conferences missed what this kid figured out

They probably missed it for the same reason that 199 professors rejected this kid's theory.
Stress won't kill you–it's the belief that it does, that will.
There's one of these here in Albuquerque this weekend.
…And I can't afford the tickets. Never mind. :\
I'm not too sure what these are about though.

Watched the Stress video. That was really cool. I love positive thinking like that. :)
I actually know this guy, he's one of my dad's best friends. The talk and demonstration's pretty interesting as well.
Just me indulging in the vanity that is listening to someone that shares your own view point.

I think I was just recommended this exact video. If it's anything like that one book of his, I'll love it.
When I get around to watching it, that is.
This is incredible!
The Athletic Ability of Quadcopters

The inner darkness of the comedian

The rise in thinking in abstractions
a) David wasn't an underdog, because a sling user had a massive advantage over heavy infantry.
b) Goliath's size and several oddities in the text might be explained by a certain medical anomaly.
That's assuming Goliath wasn't invented out of whole cloth, though, which I think puts that half of the talk on weak standing.
Curious to know what you guys might think of this.
Is it more probable than not we are simply the figments of a simulation?
It's cool how TED talks discredit themselves from ever being anything more than a platform for vapid entertainment. I don't mind since I hate them.

It's good and covers the bases pretty well.
I love TED. It's educational, inspirational, heartwarming, mind-blowing, etc. Except when speakers don't really understand their subject but think they do. Those suck.
Here's a fun one:
Surprisingly fascinating to a sportsless nerd such as I
Thought I'd dig up this thread to share this one, which spoke for me and my feelings completely.
