Just confirmed at today's RWBY panel, timeskip is 6-8 months.

Actually, I did some thinking about this.
Remember what Qrow said to Yang & Ruby?

"Every day out there is worth a week in this place (Beacon)"

The time skip is roughly 7 months.
There are at least 4 weeks in a month.
This means at least 28 days per month, but let's round that up to 29 because it's more common for a month to reach the thirties.

7 X 29 = 203.
Ruby has been out there for roughly 203 days.
Now, since every day out there is apparently worth a week at the academy, let's multiply it by seven.
203 X 7 = 1421.

Now let's consider that there are mostly 365 days in a year.
1421 ÷ 365 = 3.89

So technically, in that deceptively short amount of time, Ruby has received a rough training equivalent of 3.8 years.
No wonder she looks like such a beast.

The main point was: the short time skip is deceiving, it's still possible she improved a fuck ton, based on the logic of things being tougher out there.

Just in case anyone didn't hear, Rooster Teeth is partnering with Viz to put out some RWBY stuff. Most likely an official translation of the manga, probably some other things as well.

So the kid's name is Oscar, which if you've read the books, is the real name of the Wizard of Oz. Ozpin is also taken from the Wizard, except it's an excerpt from his full initials O.Z.P.I.N.H.E.A.D.

Ugh, there's a lot of foreshadowing done earlier in the series for multiple characters that I hope get brought up again. There was the talk about it seeming like Ozpin wasn't really there when he was giving his welcome speech, and then Penny mentioning having a plan to stay at Beacon. There was some more stuff, but those are the two things, that I'm hoping get further development later on.

! I think he is talking about Son getting pierced through the chest. Crow had been poisoned since Ep. 8. Regarding the current episode: I am happy to see Yang show a little spirit after being a lethargic shell of her former self for a good while. Still not sure where the whole White Fang plot will take Blake, but seeing RNJR seperate from each other makes me think that were heading towards great action from Jaune. And depending on Crow's fate, Ruby might get let in on some further information on the silver-eyed warrior stuff. Good for Weiss as well, finally being able to do a full summon.

Also, having a regular member account (which is free) lets you watch the episode the day after First members get it. Still six days before the public release. Unless you really prefer Youtube, I see no reason to wait.

! Yes, it has been confirmed that the volume is twelve episodes, so the finale is next week.

Finally watched all of Volume 4.
That was a pretty satisfying fight and ending, and it sets up the plot of Volume 5 quite nicely.

! LOTS of characters (and important ones at that) are converging on Haven/Mistral for different reasons. This is gonna be one epic clusterfuck powder keg.

I was buzzing with the need to make another music video when I finished watching, so that's what I did:
