I love both, so don't really care which one. I think OP, though because more volumes (AoT had 13 and 14, OP had 73, 74, 75). OP also generally sells more in terms of volumes doesn't it?

No it will not! Probably Nanatsu no Taizai will not even be in TOP 10. Tokyo Ghoul will be in the TOP 10 but not TOP 5.

TOP 5:

• One Piece -: Around 10 to 15 Million copies sold.
• Attack on titan -: Around 10 to 18 Million copies sold.
• Kuroko no Basket -: Around 8 Million copies sold.
• Haikyuu!! -: Around 6 to 8 Million copies sold.
• Naruto -: Around 5 to 6 Million copies sold.

Tokyo Ghoul will have around 4 Million, but if Mega lucky than it will surpass the 5 Million, but I don't believe it will be enough to surpass Naruto.
Nanatsu no Taizai, will have only around 8 weeks of boost reported in this year Oricon year sales. That will not be enough reported boost.

Last year 10th position title sold 3,6M copies, Terra formars without an anime. Now with the anime boost and with the Ova boost, the Ovas are selling with the volumes as special editions, Terra Formars will sell even more than the last year. So Nanatsu Taizai is totally out of the TOP 10. Tokyo Ghoul will be in the TOP 10, probably at 6th position.

I did the math and it'll be very close either way (like a few tens of thousand copies difference).

Although One Piece should have an extra 1.5 million or so from the old volume sales.

Maybe One Piece will be second by a difference of at least 1 Million copies. The old volumes of Attack on Titan are still selling with the Hype, in the first half of the year volume 1 sold 300k, One Piece old volumes just don't compare, majority of people already bought them. If One Piece had the normal 4th volume this year, things would be totally different, but it doesn't have!

Haikyu!! sold way more than what I thought would do. I thought it would be only around 7 Mililon, but it is in fact 8.3 Million O_O

With less 6 volumes than Kuroko no Basket(8,070,446) in its anime boost, it still sold 213k more. O_O

This year they released the same number of volumes! Also Attack on Titan is still in his anime boost, getting a lot of backlog sales, One Piece backlog is really little right now(3,342,527 copies from 72 volumes, around 46k copies per volume).

Makes me wonder if OP's sales would be even better if the anime were better because AoT's getting this boost from OVAs and a 25 ep. anime.
While OP's anime is running and you said the anime boost is pretty small. But then again, OP also had it's huge boost already and everyone already has the volumes.

Back when Strong World came out One Piece got a similar boost, though because of how much backlog One Piece has it's volume sales were ridiculous, like around 35 million.

Other countries must have some kind of limited info as well.

There is no world wide sales available! The most you can hope from that is when the publisher announces those numbers like One Piece 345 Million worldwide, when in Japan got 300 Million copies. And Naruto announcement of 275 Million worldwide in its end.

If Assassination Classroom anime becomes as popular as it can potential become it will possible surpass One Piece for 1 or 2 years. Unless One Piece gets a boost from somewhere.
Shokugeki no Soma can be a surprise as well if it gets as popular or more than Attack on Titan.
We also have the Seraph of the End and Kekkai Sensen from Jump Square, and probably other popular titles.
Ore Monogatari also will have an anime. It can become the next Kimi no Todoki or even Nana, and with the boost can challenge One Piece.

Ah, Sakamoto desu ga with all his swag will totally defeat One Piece XD

Also before that, Oricon in 2007 posted a really limited list of top 10, but they don't count that as official, where One Piece is also at the top. Probably One Piece is in the top since 1999, when it got his anime boost or since 2003, the time GTO stop selling volumes.

I reaaaally doubt that. Not every manga gets such a significant boost by an anime. Probably a non-late night timeslot would rise AC's chances, but that still sounds like a risky bet.

Anyway, the important thing here is that AoT's BIG year of hype wasn't enough to beat a regular, movieless year of One Piece.

Oda mentioned that he writes One Piece for new readers every five years. I'm interested to see what he has planned.

for anyone who's interested, I was researching Mangasellings in Germany. The only thing I found so far is a list from 2013 which states that Naruto sold more than One Piece >_>… This list also only contains 2 big publishing Houses (Carlsen, EMA). There's more but no lists found for them.

There's no concrete numbers for Naruto but OP is supposed to be over 4Million sold copies. Then comes Sailor Moon (over 2mil), Detective Conan (over 1Mil), Manga Love Story (over 1Mil), Fairy Tail (570k) Soul Eater (400k), Kuroshitsuji (300k), Kingdom Hearts (200k) and Pandora Hearts (170k).
More bestsellers without numbers: Vampire Knight, Maid-sama, InuYasha, Highschool of the dead.

Yes, it did. In fact, the only reason why it got the 13th best series position in 2013 was because people bought several different volumes of the series, since the best-selling Toriko volume in 2013 "only" sold 463,879 copies and was 83th best selling volume.

What this means is that, with the anime, a lot of people bought previous volumes (backlog). Now that the anime has ended, individual volume sales for Toriko are around the same or slightly inferior but the main difference is that the backlog factor is no longer strong.

SnK excited me more and more often than One Piece did this year. Same goes for Haikyuu. Rest I can't judge.

I think the flashback was better than anything in the newest AoT arc because that was mostly all set-up, while OP delivered a lot of answers (and they were satisfying). Kind of the best stuff since the timeskip.

Also, that amazing Usopp moment.

Though I did appriciate certain things in AoT, too. I just like both series.

Yo Toriko is amazing, sometimes. About the Toriko sales. Nowadays it is in the middle field of the toc. Having in mind that this series is really good, i always was wondering why the sales are…that low. Maybe Japan take it as an offensive. Because it is very similar to OP. Who knows. One thing is for sure, Toriko isn't for anyone, like OP and many other series. Female Toriko reader are pretty much non existent.
For me, OP is still way more interesting. I don't dislike Rebecca, the Dwaves, the colosseum contender and Bellamy. So i do enjoy also their screentime. I am actully more interested in how Oda wraps up the Bellamy subplot than what happened in that 0.1
