I seriously couldn't watch some of the commercials for Sharknado! … I was laughing too hard
to watch.
I was watching the Morning Joe show on msnbc and the guys were laughing too, while the female on the show just shook her head at it XD -
Watched the first hour. It was hilarious. Will watch the rest later. Highly recommend.

(I'd say both but I did grow up with the classic SNL so I actually laugh harder with the Land Shark stupidity, than at the idea of Sharknado.) -
Well this has to be the best review ever.
For anyone who hasn't seen the SyFy original movie, Sharknado; it's a heart-warming, coming of age story about a ragtag group of sharks uprooted from their home by mother nature's fury. The sharks must band together and overcome adversity and strife while trying, desperately, to make their way back to the only home they've ever known. Battling chainsaw wielding humans and B-list actors trying, desperately, to throw themselves into the displaced sharks' mouths every chance they get. If you love sharks and tornadoes, well…now you don't have to choose! Do yourself a favor and see this one before the Oscars! Sharknado is, truly, the cinematic experience of a lifetime.

Sadly, I wouldn't put it past syfy channel to actually do any of these. Also I love that Jaleel White would be cast in one of these. Because he did such a "fantastic" job on Megashark vs Crocosaurus.

How about B-Movies? We'd loose a lot of potential laughs keeping it to just SyFy …think of the "classic" b-movies of (supposed) horror we can make fun of! Anyone remembers the oldie, "THEM!"? XD .... Keeping it to SyFy would be like Mystery Science Theater 3000, but if we add Horror, we can add campers that were done MST-style before MST came to be, thanks to Elvira XD

For the record, let it be known that I loved Sharknado. And it wasn't even ironically. One of my favorite things to do is sit down and watch a cheesy B-movie monster flick with a good group of friends. And, unfortunately in the past few years, the stuff Syfy has been churning out just hasn't been any good. Mainly because it seems like they weren't embracing the b-movie schlock, and were trying to make these cheesy movies serious films. But so far this year, it seems as if they're undergoing a resurgence of classical b-movies, and it didn't even start with Sharknado.
I'm really hoping they can keep it going.

I second (or third or whatever) the movement for changing this thread into the B-Movie thread.
Overall though I feel the B-Movies are REMARKABLY hit or miss with a majority of them hitting the miss section on a wide variety of reasons (it seems like there isn't a strict formula which designates them as a good B-Movie or not). Heck, sometimes I don't even know which movies to throw into the B-movie bin because they turn out remarkably good. How about the Japan Shock films? They're B-movie nonsense too (at least I think they are) shrug
I mean it is easy to designate some movies as fun B-movie garbage (i.e. anything the Syfy network throws out in a weekly basis), but sometimes there are just some random 80s-90s- (or heck) 2000s gems that really shine from the depths of obscurity. Some are remarkably stupid and SHOULD be forgotten like Area 51…dear god. But nonsense like Sharknado or...heck anything with animal monsters are at least worth a look for me (AS LONG as the monster gets at least 20 minutes of screen time). I think a recent amusing title was Frankenfish. You can't go wrong with swamp mutation flicks (UNLESS it is Creature. That movie was remarkably lame for a B Film).

LOL I think anything ranging from silly camp to "are you serious in thinking THIS is scary?" has been called b-grades.
But usually its a movie that low budget and it shows in some way in the script, the acting skills and/or special effects.
But some went out their way to turn that description on its ear by purposely having some better funding for a bad script, but have some decent effects.Some the best remembered (read 'worse ones that I remembered') b-movies were from the 50-60s IMO. While some the best campy ones run the gauntlet of the movie-making age.

Both had me going W T F ... then laughingThen really fun and great b-movies is more camp. I loved the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes ... just so I could laugh at the absurbity.

Just seen Sharknado 2. First scene is as bonkers as I wanted the whole movie to be, yet, sadly, the rest was a borefest of epic proportions. No ammount of stupid raccord and continuity mistakes are enough to make it interesting. And it also feels like most of the mistakes are made willingly, like "lol thrash cinema lol syfy lol the Asylum fourth wall yadda yadda". Such lack of passion.
And I was also genuinely disgusted by the ending scenes. There's making an exploitation movie and then there's carelessly throwing in the whole "let's kill all the sharks in our sights just because!". That was disgusting.
First one was definitely more entertaining. Probably worse, but at least that, more entertaining.
