Pretty slow episode. A lot of it was spent just looking at Shinokuni and mountains. Animation wasn't all that great, noticed Zoro, Kinemon, and Ceasar looked off-model in a few shots. Definitely not one of the better episodes this arc.
What were they trying to accomplish showing the Sunny-go in Zoro's flashback?
This episode even made me dislike Zoro.
What the hell is wrong with Robin's face? Jesus christ it's like a Picasso painting half the time. I do not understand why she's the only one that they consistently cannot get down. I also like how the gas had better animation than Luffy's new and climactic attack.
These people do not know the meaning of priorities.

Characters were drawn poorly at times. but gas scenes look amazing, slimey and shinokuni have been getting the good kind of animation for a while now.
The coats are like an excuse for the animators to draw straight lines down like bottom of the coats are lined with lead. Franky just looks like a black square and Brook like a straw with an afro. Wish they would lose the coats.
The animation was somewhat questionable at certain parts but it was all around a good set up episode. I liked Gomu Gomu no UFO. xD
First off the SHIDAkuni was awesome, the episode was slow but it was good, the source material is to blame here, heck they even added some of the next chapter in this episode, so it could have been waaayyyy worse if they stuck 1:1.
The episode was okay. I've seen worse, but it would be a stretch to say this was a good episode. The animation for Shinokuni is nice and fluid and LOOKS nice, and the OST choices were solid, but these two things do not excuse showing us 2 minutes of random scenery that could have been handled in 40 seconds at most. There were also some wonky character shots that didn't help.
The first half sucked overall, but it picked up pretty well in the end. I personally thought that the flashback was handled well, though I'll agree the shot of the Sunny was a tad bit random (though it sort of made sense).
Anyhow, if they haven't changed it by now and they didn't bother to answer my email, it's safe to assume that we're stuck with We Go until the next opening. And god help us if there's licensing issues with the NEXT opening…
**+**Well the Land of Death was handled very well. It really gave off a nuclear winter/nobody's alive vibe and the music augmented that.
**+**Caesar realizing that nobody died was quite amusing. Gave me a chuckle.
**-**Zoro seemed to get too pissed off. At himself, sure, but at Luffy? Anime stretching really hurt that.
**-**Gum-Gum UFO looked horrible. I'd have been completely satisfied if it looked like it does in the opening but instead we got random fleshy swirl.
Really good episode i don't mind expanding on things if it's actually done good like this i like just showing the mountains and such the way it was done and Zoro being angry with the flashback gave it more impact.
Personally i don't care about all the negative comments if your reading the manga you at least wanna have some more expending in the anime and if it's done well i can appreciate it also i coudn't compain about the animation.

Loved how overboard they went with the "take it seriously!" scene, it felt like Zoro was going crazy. Haha.
I knew this episode was going to be pretty slow given the chapter itself wasn't anything special to begin with.
Shinokuni at the beginning had some sweet animation. Shida did a great job on it.
I have to agree that they went overboard with Zoro's speech. If he had gotten anymore angrier, he might have bursted a blood vessel. lol
Gum Gum UFO looked okay. The music fit the scene very nicely. Lots of great music choices throughout the episode.

One thing we need to understand, pacing is rarely good in the anime, they have to lag it out so the manga can run ahead. Anyway, the animation and art was indeed good, it's nice to see another setting (grown sick of the snow animation).
I almost started to bang my head on the floor while watching this episode. They dragged out everything and the constantly recurring and Dragged out scenes of the Shinokuni made me hate it.Caesar's laugh is starting to piss me off.The flashbacks were annoying.Robin looked like a derp. I had to keep skipping scenes because they were so dragged out and the animation was not good aside from the Shinokuni scenes.
It's such a pity that a good (if a little boring) episode got such an akward ending. With G-5 randomly attacking and Zoro, out of all people freakin' Zoro being terrified! In the manga he just told Luffy to be careful because it was the smart thing to do but here he looks more like "Oh fuck I just realized that we're in the New World better shit my pants!" Alright, now that i've calmed down i can be more objective towards the episode! It was very good overall but i didn't like how they handled Zoro's scene and it's even worse because i was expecting it so much. At some point i even thought he was going to go up and kick Luffy's ass or something (weird because i read the manga and knew he wasn't going to) not to mention that the flashback about Sunny was kind of random.
Positive points are that even though 1/3 of the chapter was about Shinokuni's effect, it was done so well that i didn't mind it one bit_._ It served as great buildup. Smoker's scene delivered, the art was very consistent through the episode, the pacing was good overall and the music choices should be praised because they were on point.
Poor Robin.(mainly to last image).

i have to say, overall this was one of the best episodes in the punk hazard arc, i didnt understand why ussop, nami, and brook were scared of the G5 soldiers

What baffles me is that Robin's face is one of the more simpler ones to draw, at least compared to some other characters. She has very straight and defined features that shouldn't be that easy to mess up that badly. And yet they do. Every time. People like Smoker, Caesar, Vergo and Brook have more difficult faces to deal with and they look alright almost all the time.
It really boils down to lazy art direction. And poor supervision? I dunno; I'd never greenlight that mess to air to a world audience. I'm watching the Funimation dub Adult Swim run with Davy Back Robin and it's almost like a completely different character. The transition is painful.
This episode was….okay. Art and animation was either poor or just meh most of the time. Also, padding in this one was more noticeable with plenty of still shots, long pauses, and sliding or looping animation.
UFO was okay, but a bit of a letdown. The bit with Nami getting pissed at Sanji and punching him had the most energy put into it, that and some of the sequences of the incoming gas.
Next episode also doesn't seem all that special in the A&A department either, but we'll see.

Yeah, that scene and a few others were padded out with a more dramatic approach. That scene in particular was funny in that Zoro looks like we was losing his shit over the possibility of getting defeated in the New World instead of the more restrained concern in the manga. It's made worse with the terrible scene of Zoro walking into the group of hostile marines with his guard down while everyone stops attacking each other (except Brook), defeating them with a cheesy attack, yelling at Luffy while holding a strained grit teeth look while Luffy slowly tries to comprehend what's bugging Zoro.

Below average episode… Shinokuni was well animated with good music and sound (the air rushing violently, from the high pressure release and osmosis); properly the only good thing in the episode... The artists seem to be on strike because the characters seem to be half-assed and linear-art quality, without tone. Man, Gum-Gum Ufo made Luffy looked like the Tasmanian devil lol.

well i agree but i wouldn't say Robin's face is the ONLY one that they're messing up. and yeah the animation and art on 604 was rubbish. from the preview of 605, things to come look much better

@MasterKingJC; i can't say i agree with all your ratings. A-/A for art and animation? C for content? that animation when sanji fell from nami's punch had like 1.5 frames per second and its basically similar to that most of the time. Luffy's ufo was bad for the most part. You're right about the pacing but i wouldnt even mind a B-/C pacing if they'd fill it with nice animations and imo it's the slow animation that makes the pacing feel that way for the most part, though the way to go is making filler arcs from time to time and not stretching content at all. It's not that the animation is that bad, but there's not nearly enough of it. All we get is some 2 second frames, and 3 framed animations. Some animators do the strict minimum so they can get payed to do it and don't give a shit about the anime itself. It's true that the art wasn't the most horrible ever but messing up robin's face again like that deserve an instant C-; u can't do that to robin. Im not so sure what you mean by content; if you mean how well they adapted manga content to anime then i agree, but the content itself would deserve A+ from the beginning. Finally, i would agree that im expecting a lot from one piece anime but that's because i love one piece and for me it's not just like some random anime im gonna watch between other shit, not that i claim that im the only one.
