The hell??? It isn't going to be playable at TGS.
Will I even care about FF by the time they drag this out? Holy hell, it's been forever!

Well, come on, they have like sixty different FFVII projects to finish first. Working on the new one has to take second priority to indulging nostalgia.

What I've heard about it so far doesn't exactly make me want to go out and grab it the minute it's released anyway.

.
You seriously better be kidding.

Um….the game was playable last year...
And sixty different FF7 projects? Huh? You mean the film which is a different team and essentially done?
The only FF7 project I can think of is Dirge of Cerberus and the cellphone game they released forever ago.
Advent Children is done, Before Crisis is.. kind of done? They just release new episodes every now and then. All that leaves is Crisis Core, which is some PSP game we know nothing about last I heard, and then Dirge of Cerberus is getting close to being done, it looks like. I'm pretty sure that's all they've got for FFVII. Unless they do end up doing a PS3 remake.
But, anyway, weird. I thought I heard sometime last week that it would be playable at TGS. Was it a sudden change or something?
Hell, I already don't care about Final Fantasy. FFX and the damn MMORPG really sapped my interest
Amen. FF9 was simply magical and awesome, and FFX was ok, but let down by lacklustre character design. I just don't care anymore.
I stopped caring when Final Fantasy X-2 came out and everyone I knew who played video games were on the verge of wetting their pants to get it.
At least with FFX, you had Auron, the badass of the group.
You'll get it when pigs are soaring majestically over the icy peaks of hell.
If 12 is another MMORPG, I dunno why you'd make the effort to care. XD
Oh, and there will be a VII OVA as well.

Which was before the director left the project for medical reasons, possibly a nervous breakdown, which might have been caused by various project delays. Or the delays might have been the result of his medical problems. The guy currently in charge did Crystal Chronicles, which would probably result in some changes to the game.

Have they finished Before Crisis? I thought that they were still releasing chapters of it. Crisis Core for the PSP is also in production.
Anyway, I was being facetious with the sixty projects, but, regardless, resources being used on those four or five projects are not being used for the next game. How much money and effort did they use to create the tech demo of Final Fantasy VII as it would appear on the PS3?
How many different projects is Square-Enix working on at this point anyway?
You just have to wait, cause Delays are the forte of Square-Enix. I mean how many games are they making at a time. First all of the FFVII products and KH 2 thats suppose to some out this year. And all their other aniticpated games they have to make, just doesn't give them time to finish FFXII
Final Fantasy is now going to hell. In the Final Fantasy 1-7 was great, 8 is bleh, 9 is great but short. The series started to suck at Final Fantasy 10, Final Fantasy X-2 was a rip-off, they smear you with juicy screenshots but they did it in a rush and you still explore same old place. You don't even explore the unknown Spira land. They trickrd you into thinking Yuna will jump everytime you mash the X button plus they fooled you into thinking she would swim but she did not. The dungeons are boring and designed clumsy, hell they are not outside the original 15 locations. This game makes me so mad I just want to grab the director by the throat and scream "YOU FUCKEN LAIR!!!!"
Yuna: Let's go out and find spheres that records all of Spira's history!
"Goes to find spheres that olny records the Shinyin and Lenne plus some is just pointless recordings and spheres dateing to 7 years ago"
Yuna: Ripped-off…-_-'''''
Final Fantasy 11 was MMRPOG so I'm not going to play a game online and spent 40$ for it, forget it.
I'm giving Final Fantasy XII a last chance to reedemed itself, if it's a rip-off like Final Fantasy X-2 I'm done with Final Fantasy, I can fuck Final Fantasy XIII anyday. SE is also going down the hill with FF7 spin-offs, I migth buy the movie if it comes out here, I may get DOC and I'll see on the Crisis Core but if they keep making more spin-off, I'm gonna wish SE never exist. They should simply make FF7-2 and FF9-2 but so far the future is dim because SE are now zombies over spin-offs. SE is losing it, if it keeps up I would olny play Final Fantasy 1-12 including Final Fantasy X-2
Heh I don't even think they will make FF XIII, I think FF XII is the last chapter of the Final Fantasy series. Thats why they are trying to make it perfect or something. Although their universal battle mode is quite strange to me. It looks like another Star Ocean game this way, but with colourful lines pointing at the enemy.
Well, SE is pretty big now, and they worked on FFIX and VIII at the same time, so I can't see why not.
As for FF12, It originally was the only reason I'd buy a PS3. But now, my hopes are in a state of free-fall. A main character looking way more sissy than Tidus, summons acting much like in FFXI (and it appears old favourites such as Odin and Leviathan won't appear), and finally, a fighting system that horribly reminds me of Star Ocean 3 are the main reasons.
Nah, I have to say that I'm looking way more forward to Grandia III, where the battle system seems intact (I'm a turn-based fan).

The doesn't give them an excuse to keep delaying it. It's been so long, I can't even remember when it was unveiled, just sometime in 2003. At least stuff like KH2 has release dates in mind and is playable.

Exactly. It shouldn't change a thing.
How many different projects is Square-Enix working on at this point anyway?
Regardless of how many, they're freaking Square-Enix. Look at the releases of 7-10. I entered high school with the release of 7 and spent Winter vacation of my Freshman year of college playing 10. We can all bicker about which we like or don't like but regardless majority of us played them one way or the other but either way that's 4 FF's in 4.5 years!!! It's been 5-freaking years since a real FF game came out! Roll that through your head for a second. Yes, it HAS been THAT long. Blow any circuits? If forecasts are right it'll be 6 before it hits these shores. THE HELL!?
And just one thing to keep in mind for anyone unwilling to try it, OP VA's do the Japanese version again.
I can bitch and moan but of course I'll buy it if it comes out before my brain deteriorates.

Eh? FF XII isn't going to be for the ps3, just the ps2. And yah, the new main character really looks a lot sissier than tidus and he seriously looks like a girl.
Hopefully Square-Enix can keep their end of the bargain and give us KH 2 this year. Actually they say that they are going to finish Dirge of Cerebus by this year. But I doubt it.

I seem to recall first hearing about it before XI was released… I'd almost swear that they were actually working on both of them at the same time. At this rate, it'll be like they released VI on the SNES after the Playstation came out.

Well, there was what? A four year span between VI and VII or more?
We got spoiled by the steady release schedule of VII through X as much as anything else. Just be glad it's not the Chrono series; look at how long it was between Trigger and Cross. I don't even remember when the last time I heard anything new about the third one was.

9, 10 and 11 were all unveiled at the same time. 12 was not explored until 2003. It was unveiled in a JUMP fold-out. I was on my way to school in Japan one Monday morning when I picked up the issue. It had the picture of the main male and female. I can't recall when but it was in late 2003.

4 years. Going from 2D sprites to CG movies, polygons and an entirely new format, not to mention development process.
6 years using a graphics system that is actually less detailed than 10's and relies heavily on texture-mapping the likes of which we saw in 8, on an aging system that isn't even a format change.
Pathetic.

There is no third one ^O^ Break was scrapped entirely. And CT and CC were 4 years apart. They're also an entirely different issue. Like it or not, FF is Square's flagship title. Completely different realm from side ventures like CT.
It's like asking why George Lucas didn't work on a new film between making SW prequels.
Fact: SE is late and if this is the best goddamn game I've ever played it will be worth it. Otherwise they can rot in hell for twiddling their thumbs on a half-assed title for a quickly aging system.

Eh, sorry got 'em confused there. Well, if FFXIII Continues the trend, then i won't buy a PS3
Seriously I wouldn't buy it, even for a ffVII remake. I actually prefer the deformed nonfpeaking dolls over extremely realistic characters.
And if KH2 isn't out by Xmas, I'm gonna get a bit irritable… And feel anger towards SE.
