Otherwise there's no way they can afford it given that most core fans will already have the funi dvd's - I know I do.
I'm assuming things are going better between Toei Animation and MangaUK now that they got "Dragonball Z", and there has been a change in management for Toei's international affairs so that might be a good sign. But still, asking fans to tweet for a highly-demanded anime, is kind of odd.

well toei sacked two of their most unreasonable negotiators not long ago so maybe. I know that at the MCM expo Manga said toei europe was very keen to get the show off the ground over here but as other people have said i wish theyd just put a poll up on facebook. I imported the voyages but i may be persuaded to buy the collections if we get them. The sales figures for the dbz sets are going to be vital and it will be interesting to see just how many people have already imported, and whether or not mangas sales are significant enough.

Let's turn that logic around on them: they are following around 1,000 people. So, suppose those people did a poll, they could expect @MangaUK to immediately reply in full support? (That is assuming those are all legit people, and no SEO bumping with fake accounts happened there, which does tend to happen on PR/marketing accounts.) Newsflash for MangaUK: thinking the world is all about you does not make it so, surprisingly enough!

Hmm, people are complaining about the price tag, but it's working out to be ~£23 for me to import Season 4 Part 1 (pretty sure it used to be ~£18 :().
Not sure if I would rebuy the series at this point, of course having it in region 2 would be nice. Will certainly buy the first set and the movies.

Well I knew that, but I was asking more about the price point and episode count MangaUK was giving and some fans were complaining about, but then MangaUK explained how the example they're giving is actually reasonable in comparison to their other releases.

I kind of agree, but how at risk is Toei Animation and MangaUK to imports? I mean America and Australia have had this dub for a while at a cheaper price.

I honestly don't see why they don't just start releasing the show with collections, obviously the time for using 13 episode sets for this series is over.

i wish they would too but perhaps toei will only give them the voyages for now who knows.
One issue could be MangaUK's potential release schedule for "One Piece". Say they start releasing Collections on a somewhat fast schedule, they catch up to where FUNimation would be with their new releases, which would be voyages. I think it would be too much to ask to keep going the route of Collections in the UK when FUNimation would still be releasing Voyages of Season 4 or 5.
It's all very tricky. Like I said it depends on what purchasing habits fans would rather have. Is it more practical to import, or just get a standard release in the UK? Which is more convienent? Above all else, if I was was a UK fan, I would support the release regardless of the episode count.

One idea would be to release the collections quarterly? That gives them 2 years and people plenty time to get the money they need to buy, 4 collections a year and in 2 years there may be be collections 9 + 10. then its a case of waiting for Funi to release more collections, jumping to voyages or doing there own collections.
DBZ release should show that we're greedy and want more for our money so jumping straight to collections i think would be a better idea.
£25 is pretty expensive considering most American TV series that go up to 24 episodes cost less.
I'd likely buy it if it's Japanese with subtitles. Get Nintendo in on it for the UC part 2 3DS release. They gave the first game a decent enough push so it could help a lot.

But it isn't £25. Manga really should have stated this on the first post, thats the RRP. so the actual price we would pay off amazon would be around £15 which is the same as Bleach and Naruto which is faire and decent. Works out cheaper than the Funi sets aswell which are £22/23?
Season 4 set is $24 on Rightstuf which currently converts to £15. Shipping fees pushes the price it up and possible custom fees can increase the cost further.
I would have preferred the collection sets, but then we get the problems firecrouch already explained.
Toei Animation, Inc. will be at Anime Expo this year in the exhibit hall, which I'll be attending. If any staff is available at their booth maybe I can get some discussion out of them on this topic. Then again Toei Animation, Inc. is the Los Angeles-based sales and licensing branch of Toei Animation, I don't think they're directly involved with what goes on in Europe.

Judging by the comment they have just posted, it looks like they are going to attempt to get the rights to release the Collections in the UK for a RRP of £24.99. I can't see Toei agreeing to double the amount of episodes for the same price, but I hope I'm wrong :o
i will pay £20 for a collection and no more seeing as i have already imported all the voyages. I plan to purchase the collections in the future regardless , whether it be through Manga UK or Funi.
What they really need to do is get the simulcast over here first that would be fantastic and a good way for them to see the support the show receives in the UK.
Correct if I'm wrong but Italy, France, Spain, and Germany, where "One Piece" is pretty big, don't even get the simulcast. I figure those countries would get it before the UK.

i guess you are right but those countries each have their own individual dubbing companies , where as the Uk shares funimations content.Maybe this could make us more eligible for the simulcast , or at least when the english sets come out over here.

MangaUK would get FUNimation's version of course, but they'd still pay for their distribution license separately.

.If they wanted people to go for DBZ they shoulda released them years ago instead of releasing region 1, 2 and 4 versions in America a long while ago. Most people who wanted it probably just ordered from amazon etc anyways But meh. My brother has only volumes 1-3. Guess I'll pick up to the end of the Perfect Cell Saga at least.
I totally agree with you on this, its abit silly really because (Now I am gonna sound like a old guy now) today's DBZ audience with disposable income are only connected to DBZ through the video games they have been releasing. The show is not on any UK channels anymore, so there isn't a demand for this show and to base DBZ boxset sales to bring in One Piece is stupid, and most of us (Myself included) have shelled out big money to get the boxsets have have been released in the past (Dragonboxes oh yeah ;) love it) Damn Manga Entertainment sort yourself out!

haha I guess so, but distribution in the uk for things has never been a strong one, I mean remember the Malaysian english dubs they brought out for movies 1-4 of DBZ terrible. But anyway back to one piece I think that the collection of the voyages would be a better plan than the individual voyage boxes.

I think all of us in the UK should just buy every Dragon Ball Z DVD in all the stores across the country. Totally make them sell out everywhere. Toei will be immensely impressed with the results and start to sell One Piece over here. The moment the DVD's are in the shelves we will them take back all of the DBZ DVD's with the receipt and get our money back.

i was there too and fingers crossed for the anime industry panel tommorow, where we will hopefully get the announcement we want. I have to admitt they didn't sound too dismissive or negative when asked about it, maybe something has been worked out between manga and toei.
