This new show from Aaron Sorkin premiered last night on HBO, and it was…something.

After the first viewing I was unsure of how I felt about it. It was interesting, it had plenty of great moments while pretty much no bad ones, but I could't shake the feeling of familiarity.

And then it hit me. It reminded me of Studio 60.Just slightly, but enough to have me worried.

Then I watched it again today and loved it. I don't know what changed, but I was just very enthralled.

I won't spoil anything for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, but you should all give it a gander.

Which, luckily is very easy to do, as HBO put the whole episode up for free over at HBO.com, and on Youtube. Check it out.

I can´t believe that nobody seems to have watched this or at least written about it here, an amazing show though i have to say i was a bit reluctant before watching it but Jeff Daniels almost immediately convinced me. I also loved Emily Mortimer, very charming and impressive.

I watched this and I love it. Just kept getting better and better and I fell for all the characters same way as Sorkin tends to make you in the end. Informative yet not preachy, politics made interesting, laughs and tears. Jeff Daniels and Emily Mortimer are both wonderful in their roles, as is Alison Pill and John Gallagher.

Though, on my behalf, I've never really felt that urge to discuss after watching the episodes. I enjoy them a lot as I go through them, but it's not like Dexter or The Mentalist that I want to go online afterwards and talk about it. Dunno what makes it that different, really.

            This show… Was pretty bad.

I'd probably watch a bit of season two just to see if there's any changes made. But overall season one could be very obnoxious and I was rolling my eyes way too much.

            Who exactly is Mumbo?

            It's OFFICIAL, UsoppXNami 4ever.

I agree. While I (raspberry) do enjoy the show (perhaps because of its portrayal of the media) I've always found it as too pretentious. Too much wit involved, and not the good kind of wit like in Fraiser. I also hated the music selection.. but that's a personal preference.

Damnit!! We need more shows like Bonanza and I love Lucy… young folk can't make anything like the classics and I spit on their shows. Matt Damon should do shows tho, he's amazing!

I'll watch anything Sorkin does. Between Sports Night and West Wing and A Few Good Men and such, he's one of the best writers we got. He's got a real talent for patter and intelligent conversation and making news topics like politics interesting.

But Studio 60 was bad (aside from Bradley Whitford…) and Newsroom is on HBO, and not available on DVD yet... so I haven't actually seen it yet.

Nice to finally see this thread getting some action.

Anyway, I ended up really kind of disliking this show. IT felt to much like Sorkin was screaming "I'm amazing, all my opinions are right, love me!"

Not as bad as Studio 60, but nowhere even close to Sports Night or The West Wing.

                    Can't wait!

                    Just 15 more minutes!!!

As always, this show had at least 15 minutes of content I could have done without.

Yeah, it's still not a great show. The casual mysogyny bothers me.

Nah, i really like the series, though, just like J-Sack said, there are some things i also can do without, especially the love triangle or whatever it is of Jim, Meggie and Don.

                              Just saw this week's episode.

It was 65% good and 35% that could have been completely tossed away/set on fire/erased from existence.

He should just get female writers.

That weren't part of Sex and the City.

Even in plots that don't involve the love quintangle his women are depicted as flaky, emptyheaded and always in need of male assistance.

Which is weird, because that wasn't a problem he had in Sports Nights or West Wing. (There were occasional idiot moments for a lot of the characters, but they passed that ball around.)
