Thanks for all the great work guys. I wanted to ask you something, seeing you're also encoding in h265 with Handbrake. Could you please tell me which setting you use? Because when I encode in H265, the imagequality drops heavily and gets all the grainy (especially in dark scenes). If I encode in h264 I have zero problems with the videoquality but the filesize automaticly gets a lot bigger. Could you please help me out here so I can get lowfile size but awesome videoquality like you guys?

we use a preset we found online which works great.
here you go https://mega.nz/#!7tdA1YrB!GDU6JQ3WF7fzQlBj_zN8d0XKiYftHIGE8axtxN5ku6I import it by pressing options -> import in the bottom-right. should work if you have v0.10.3.0 or newer -
Thanks! hopefully this is "the key" to finally share the Paced versions of Naruto and Fairy Tail we mailed about some (/too long a) time ago. For both complete series (until the last canon episodes) all the edits are done, QC is done, only the final rendering sucks. I'll try it out right away! thanks!

Are you doing a paced version of Fairy Tail? It isn´t a little impossible to do it, because some manga scenes are different in anime-version? And about the paced version of Naruto, there is a one.

Yep did both of them. I've clicked through the paced naruto version on Reddit but the sound/video quality and editing work wasn't doing it for me (with all respect to the person who took his time and did it). So I took all the episodes I could collect from YellowFlash, Darkdream, DB, Taka/Kurama and started my own, same way OnePace does. With OST's and such. I also did the same for Fairy tail since I can't stand the pacing and kiddy filler material. For both series I went through the manga panel by panel to create my own anime-manga edit that resembles the source material as closely as possible. Indeed, some parts are different in the manga (Pain fight in Naruto, Laxus in Tartaros) so there's nothing much you can do about that (although in case of the Laxus tartaros fight I cut out the flashbacks and shortened the fight). But it's not like the anime/manga are that different from each other. Only in a couple of scenes.

You uploading it somewhere?
i watched the naruto kai cut, the early episodes were full of problems, and the later ones lacked consistency.

I sure am! I used the preset Sewil gave me and after reducing some RF (20 -> 12) I got a bit bigger filesize but the endresult I wanted. (around 250 per 30minutes original Naruto, currently encoding a 720p shippuuden to see what that will become). When it's all encoded and done I'll upload and share everything with everyone

Anyway, if you have uploaded the paced Versions of FT and Naruto, then tell us in the respective thread/topic of the anime-series.
@One Pace: Can you add on your website a page for information, which chapter/episodes are the paced episodes covered?

I downloaded the mkv files and everything is working perfect when i watch the with the VLC player.
If i try to watch them on my TV (LG 47LE8500) via USB there are no subtitles :P and there is no way to enable them.
Im new to this so i hope you guys can help me :)

I love this guys, I used it to power through Punk Hazard and what you have done of Dressrosa. I wish there was an English counterpart, but maybe that's a task for another group. You guys certainly paved the way for it to happen though. Quick question, do you know when you'll get back to Dressrosa? I'm patient, I'm just curious.

After the war saga is complete or whenever Toei releases the OSTs for Dressrosa.

Encode the subtitles into the video using handbrake. Go to the subtitle tab, add the source, then burn it in.

TVs generally don't have the software necessary to play softsubbed video-files properly. The only ways around this is either to re-encode the videos yourself, or get a HDMI cable and just hook your PC up to the TV.
-
I probably didn't make it clear enough on the site, but if you go to the Streams tab you can pick your episode and press Download and it'll send you to the openload page where you can download an .mp4 of the episode, although it's only 480p.

Ugh I hope Laboon comes out soon, I cant wait to see what you guys did with that arc :)

Don't think you guys know about this, but there is currently a german fan project by group KUC NG running with the aim to produce the best quality of One Piece Anime.
They upscale all SD episodes to really good looking HD, include 3 audio tracks: german, english and japanese and of course 2 subtitle tracks: english and german. Needless to say it's all uncut
Here's a few screens of their upscale:!
And here's a screen comparison (mouse over to see their version): DVD vs KUC NG
So far they have done episodes 1-110 and release 1 more every week (sometimes more).
Their source is the english Funimation DVD, here's a small Media info (unfortunately only x264, I really like your x265 ):
! Quellmaterial: Englische UT DVD
Sprache: Deutsch, Englisch, Japanisch
Untertitel: Deutsch, Englisch
Länge: ~ 23 Min. pro Folge
Größe: ~ 300 MB
! Auflösung: 976x720 "resized" | Ab Folge 207: ….
Format: MPEG-4 (.mp4) | Codec: x264
Audio: AAC
Bitrate Video: ~ 1400 Kbps
Bitrate Audio: ~ 160 Kbps
Since I really enjoy your paced version, desite the lackluster SD quality (not your fault, since it's the source quality) but also enjoy the german dub, I was wondering if you could use this really nice material for your early episodes?!

Why didn't you resize the screenshots to be the same resolution? Hard to do a direct comparison.
Not entirely sure what you're meaning…
Firstly: I just copy-pasted the images from the original thread post of the project and didn't edit or reupload them of course.
Then regarding the screenshots: they should be the same size (960x720) and are just there to show, what the upscale looks like.
If you're talking about the screen comparison: resizing the images would destroy the entire purpose of the comparison since it would also chance the quality of the images. I get your problem, but when you compare a DVD image to a bluray image of a movie in order to show the difference in quality you don't downsize the bluray image either just to make it easier to keep track of parts of the image and make a better comparison.
Anyways, just as I said, I merely reuploaded the links I found myself :-) -
Wow. I second that, would be nice if the eventual v2's/v3's see the One Pace Staff teaming up with these guys (though of course it would be a considerable undertaking, since it would mean re-Editing the first 200 Episodes entirely, so yeah).
Thankfully unlike Crunchyroll's "One Piece Special Edition HD" Remaster these guys didn't convert to 16:9 with a shoddy "Zoom into the middle" technique (see Dragon Ball Z - Orange Bricks controversy), which is great.

You should upscale the lower resolution ones to the higher one… The quality loss is going to come regardless when its scaled by whatever you're watching it on to fit the size of the screen.

That looks nice, but the vibrance is really awful.
We edited that, and it came out to this: http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/163608 We'll probably use the source with modifications for future 4:3 releases.

No, and we probably won't make one. We've had discussions about donations before but it always felt wrong to receive money for something we enjoyed doing. Even if the money would all go to the host, it made us feel like we owed our supporters something in return, say, a better, faster release, which would only pressure us into the opposite. We're all very busy outside of the project, and sometimes a release can be delayed a lot because of real life reasons, or the project can completely stop for say, six months, and then come back. We don't want to feel that obligation for our supporters that we owe them something because they donated to us, we want it to stay a fan project that we keep doing because we enjoy doing it.
-
Yesss! It was amazing, as if there has never been any filler. Thanks!!
-
I wonder if people will notice the extra feature for these two episodes….
-
I noticed one rough cut in the first episode. As the Merry Go is going up the Reverse Mountain, Luffy struggles to pull his head from out of the wooden deck ("I wanna see! I wanna see!") and when he does, there is an extra half second of his lips moving with no vocals. I assume this extra line was suppose to be cut but the editor accidentally left in that extra half second of video of Luffy saying something.
-
no that's not the extra but thanks for the feedback, I found the rough cut you meant and yeah it's odd but apparently that's what toei had in the raws as I din't cut the audio there.
-
Noticed the extra feature after finishing it–it's Dual Track with both Japanese and English.
Noticed one other thing needing a fix on episode #2, a minor typo. Usopp angrily says "Damn...! How dare Luffy brake the ship" after Luffy used the mast to fight Laboon. Should be "break".
Otherwise great job.
-
That's right, there is a dub and sub track! Thanks for your feedback too, we'll amend those mistakes if we ever rerender
-
what is the chapter per episode rate for naruto and shippuuden?
Also dual audio or strickly the sub version?
Not really set per episode, since fighting chapters don't take that long. Each episode is about 25-30 minutes long, and usually ends at the end of a scene or at a commercial break point. Hard subs only, sorry. I'll place more info in a different topic as requested when it's done. Won't take to long I hope, but let's keep this topic One Pace :)
-
-
ehh why?
mts…...
Because:
a) almost all my shippuuden episodes are hardsubbed (Dattebayo/Taka/Kurama)
b) I won't watch the show without the subs
c) plus I was to lazy to re-time the pre-timeskip naruto subs
d) I'm doing this for myself, and want to share it with anyone who's interested :)
e) this'll be my last reply on this subject for the time being ;) -
Because:
a) almost all my shippuuden episodes are hardsubbed (Dattebayo/Taka/Kurama)Taka was the last hardsub. Kurama, Hatsyuki and Horriblesubs all release softsub.
-
Taka was the last hardsub. Kurama, Hatsyuki and Horriblesubs all release softsub.
What's the difference?
-
@Long:
What's the difference?
Hardsubbed means the subs are encoded into the video. It's an ancient way of doing subtitles and most groups don't do it anymore.
Softsubbed means it's combined with the video and can be disabled in a player and extracted from the video.

when i go to stream davy episode from your webpage i have no audio, not sure why since all of amazon has worked thus far. thanks for your sudden upturn in productivity, for the state of near death you were in I was worried.

There was a weird issue with the AC3 audio codec, but it works now.
-
Thank you guys so much for starting dual audio releases. This is a dream come true for me. I know most of the times you asked about dual audio, there weren't a whole lot of positive responses, but I absolutely love the OP dub and I'm so grateful the best cut of the show has the best English version of the show, now.

Good work!
Why did you guys skip over the amazon lily arc tho. should have about 2 eps left.
