@Mark:
http://www.justin.tv/sf6667 stream here?
Yep.
The streamer streams games before fuji, just so you know. -
the stream not working for me!?
-
-
meh I can't watch this, it freezes all the time
-
Huh, Naoki Murakami is back. I don't think he's been around since like, Ice Hunters.
-
Finally showed Whitebeard
-
wow whitebeard was badly animated
-
nah still frames are top notch guy
-
Knew they would show Whitebeard this episode. Like I said, it wouldn't have fit with last week's content.
-
Much better than last week. Although the first half was meh, the second half did make up for it IMO
-
That was a good episode. For some reason the end just made me smile. Maybe the music.. I just like these "after victory" moments, I guess. The episode felt draggy, but the chapter was also relatively light on content. There's Shirley's prediction again.. I can't help but think that will be become important again in general later on. Whitebeard's moment was cool, too, there was Teach with the claws. I like what they did with the blood veins, it's wierd, but fits for what's about to come and I like the voices for the seakings for some reason. The transition to them was a little wierd, though. Finally, the frames with Luffy doing the gattling looked pretty nice. Now, looking forward to the pretty good part of the arc starting next week.

It was basically impossible for me to watch this tonight; the stream kept freezing every three seconds.
But anyway, did we seriously just spend an entire episode with him punching and people yelling at the sky? That was some DragonBall Z buffoonery right there. Also Whitebeard's new voice stuck out like a sore thumb. What happened to his old VA? Just didn't feel like coming back? Mkay.
I'm not going to fault them for the pacing. The episode ended where it needed to end and it would have been awkward to include other things from the future chapter. However, I think the filler could have been handled a little better. They're still sticking to their motto of "when in doubt, ADD BADLY-DRAWN STILL SHOTS!" But I'll reserve my full judgement until I can watch the episode without freezing and lagging.
-
16 chrs of MUGIWARA !!!
-
Wow Naoki Murakami. The usual staff must be pretty busy lately if they need him to handle an episode again.
It's been so long since he last worked as an animation director, but i remember he was pretty bad…i guess he got a little better.@Miss:

There was no new voice, it's the same.
It's kind of funny how people watch streams with bad audio quality and keep thinking VAs changed every week. -
Murakami has been key animating for the series regularly, so it's not that surprising. I'm still surprised that Shindou Mitsuo keeps popping back up. He worked on the last episode, but this isn't the first time he's done consecutive episodes for this arc.
-
Chopper must've somehow gained the ability to dilate time around himself, for there's no way it's been under three minutes since he went Monster, even taking manga's typical time dilation into account.
Murakami's last episode as animation director was from before I started paying close attention to them but this episode's art quality was a lot better than I seem to remember. I liked the pseudo-sketchiness of Luffy's face during the end of the Elephant Gatling sequence, and the blood squirting actually looked semi-realistic.
Excellent music choices, and I did like the Sea Kings' ''voices''. Talking about how Luffy's ''all right'' was kinda funny given that he'd just passed out from blood loss was was plunging a couple hundred feet to the splintered deck below.
-
Okay episode.
50% "MUGIWAAARA!", 40% Elephant Gatling, and 10% Sea Kings.
Luffy's Elephant Gatling remains nicely animated. Yeah.
Some of the Sea King voices sound familiar, but I can't seem to figure out who the VAs could be. -
Haven't watched a full episode in over a month now. Giving this episode a chance since apparently the Sea Kings are in it and I wanna see that. Also I wonder how much longer they'll stick with We Go. I am kinda glad they pretty much kept it around for the entirety of this arc.
Kinda slow episode. The civilians were the most poorly done part imo. They're just yelling Mugiwara one after another and don't even sound that freaked out. I am disappointed the the bird-like Sea King has a female voice. I always thought of that one as a male. That's not a real complaint tho lol. I liked that part though. The ending of the episode overall wasn't bad aside from the still characters. Luffy looked really cute right before the To Be Cont. too, which is a plus.
-

It's kind of funny how people watch streams with bad audio quality and keep thinking VAs changed every week.Yeah, no. That was not the same voice actor. It's noticeably different, and by a long shot. The stream was lagging; audio was fine.

The bird-like Sea King was voiced by Romi Park. Her voice is very distinguishable.
-
Was I the only one who thought the Sea Kings were supposed to be communicating telepathically? Shouldn't it be obvious to everyone when their giant mouths move?
I'm kinda looking forward to the next couple of episodes.
-

No, it really is the same guy. Check the credits, it's Kinryuu Arimoto (有本 欽隆) still.

Actually that was Kimiko Saito, Marigold's seiyuu.

I… don't see how that changes what I said, but uh okay.

Oh, I agree with this. Knew something was off about that scene.
-
Surprisingly, Keyhole's been working fairly decently this week!
Can't really say much about this episode, since it was mostly Luffy gatling like no one's business.. I did like the Sea King voices.. but I was expecting them to..not be speaking in human language… was thinking something closer to be like.. animal groans, and Shirahoshi repeating what they said as she questions their motives.
Just glad that this bit is nearing over.
-
This website is leaning more towards a predisposition of bitching now, but no matter how hard I try, I just can't find it in me to bitch at an episode like that.
Great music choice, solid lines around the characters (my favorite style of OP), voice acting from the Sea Kings was great, really "felt" the situation in scope at Fishman Island…
All in all it really felt like a classic One Piece episode. Thumbs up ('-'*)b
-
Chopper must've somehow gained the ability to dilate time around himself, for there's no way it's been under three minutes since he went Monster, even taking manga's typical time dilation into account.
Or he's been chomping on those Rumble Balls non-stop like Hody chomps his drug steroids lol
-
I… don't see how that changes what I said, but uh okay.
I'm just giving extra information since another guy said the voice sound familiar. Does everything need to be an argument or a debate?

This is the internet, so yes.
-
Wow, last weeks was so and so but this weeks was just freakin epic!
Animation was much better this time around and I just loved seeing Luffy's attacks, some of my favorites too.
This one did feel like classic One Piece episodes actually, at least in my opinion.
They did a good job on choosing the music too.Good job Toei
Now time for new Chapter pretty soon YES!!
-
I liked the ending portions when the Sea Kings appeared with Luffy's reaction, the New Fishman Pirates falling in near unison and some of the Gatling animation, but it was otherwise kind of lackluster and a bit odd. A bit too many still frames made it seem like I was watching an animation throwback of the 60s or 70s, and I don't recall so much emphasis on Luffy's throbbing veins as its all going on. I'm guessing it was done in lieu of showing the blood leaving his body, but it was sort of unsettling. Still, I did like how well it depicted his increasingly injured state.
Still, I thought it was alright and ended on the right note.
At least we got… Peter Lorre fishman!
!
(or perhaps Dustin Hoffman fishman?)Talking about how Luffy's ''all right'' was kinda funny given that he'd just passed out from blood loss was was plunging a couple hundred feet to the splintered deck below.
Yeah, it distracted me a bit. Sure, he's a rubberman, but he's already severely injured and that crash onto the deck didn't help dispel the doubt.
-
this was a great episode!!
Naoki Murakami is a great director!!
-
Since I didn't like how many of the final moves were animated and last week's filler completely ruined the point of Hody as a villain. I really liked this episode seeing Blackbeard, Jozu, and Marco was cool. Sea Kings were cool. Music was very good, only complaint was that Luffy kept hammering at Noah and there was very little transition from it being slightly broken to it being in shambles it was very instantaneous. Granted the cracking of the deck and up close shots made my gripe trivial, the cracking of the deck showed it was going to be destroyed in time if Luffy had to go all the way.
-
Wow, after a terrible episode last week we get this beautiful episode.
Yeah, a lot of still frames, art was OK, too much "Mugiwara", but the MUSIC….the MUSIC was fucking awesome! Pacing was fine, I didn't get bored at all. And Elephant Gataling's still very good animated. Reminded me of the good and old episodes.
I loved this episode, even though I know it has its problems.
-
after the debacle that was last week,i have to say great episode.
overall,i liked the episode.except some parts. animation of the whitebeard part was meh,not so good.also, the part where strawhats show disbelief at luffy destroying noah was uncool and bad.why would they say shit like that?it makes them a lot uncool.
other than that, episode was good.it has to be the best episode among the recent ones.
-
Question guys, is Toei a bigger anime production company than Madhouse? If so how comes they have been so shitty in art and animation for a really popular anime like one piece while Madhouse has been producing a consistently high quality Hunter x Hunter every week, shouldn't one piece have a higher budget or something, or am I missing something?
Really loved the second part for some reason I found it to be intense and I really like that they didn't drag out the sea kings bit.
-
Yeah aside from the still below decent art, I like this episode. Even though they move the Sea King's mouths, it is still my fave part.
-
Wow that looked dumb as hell. Shirahoshi was going to save Luffy, but the Sea Kings said that he's okay and she just left him to crash into the ship.
-
…So the episode starts off with everyone rejoicing about the Straw Hats having beaten the NFP and Luffy having finally taken out Hody, and the anime acts as if the whole crisis is now resolved, with the gigantic boat about to land on top of everyone seemingly having slipped out of their minds for several minutes before someone looks up and are like "OH CRAP, THE NOAH WILL CRASH ANY SECOND NOW!!!" ...That was kinda dumb. And of course, the citizens still persist in being utter idiots who apparently think that staying behind on the island that's still very much in danger of being crushed by the afforementioned gigantic boat is the logical thing to do... Remind me why I should care about these people again? They're clearly too dumb to live.
Well, now that the negatives are out of the way, Luffy's Elephant Gatling was good. They did a good job conveying how he was desperately overexerting himself to the point where his life was on the line. The thing with the Sea Kings just telling Shirahoshi that "Oh, it's alright," when he'd lost consciousness and was falling several hundred feet was indeed ridiculous though, like so many others have mentioned. Like, seriously, just let her catch him for goodness' sake. Also, nice to hear the Strong World final battle-theme again. I always liked that theme.
On the whole, an okay episode I guess. Certainly a lot better than last week's, at least. -
Sooo chopper's version of three minutes is one and a half episodes?? Seems legit.
Great episode (even though it was just the same scenes over and over again) i actually enjoyed this one, guess im happy that i dont have to see Hordy anymore(least favorite villain so far), im looking forward to what comes next. Does anyone know if their doing any fillers next or going onto PH?
-

I didn't think of that in detail, but the reaction of the inhabitants did strike me as fake. Loved the gattling animation. An okay episode. I'm really looking forward to the PH arc in the anime as there will be no distracting populace acting as a chorus.
-
What i didnt understand is why the hell are they yelling STOP to the ship when Luffy is actually beating the crap out of it.At best what would happen is Ship-In-Pieces would enter the island and crush a lot of people and houses.
Also luffy wasnt in gear 2?
-
Wow, it has been awhile since I've actually been surprised and annoyed as the 'To be continued' appears to the screen. Quite happy about this feeling
The first half had it's fine animation and arts, but there were too much crappy-drawn fishmen and "MUGIWARA!!!1!!!1!" all over the place. Also the Strawhat crew's "awesome group-pose" while the New Fisman Pirates officers were falling from the sky around them was a bit.. funny
The 2nd half's emotion was able to reach me, and it really pulled me with it. Of course there was this partWow that looked dumb as hell. Shirahoshi was going to save Luffy, but the Sea Kings said that he's okay and she just left him to crash into the ship.
but for me it didn't ruin the atmosphere.
-
Did you guys see Blackbeards weapon in the flashback? Somekinda wolverine type claw-weapon. THAT explains Shanks's scar and I've heard all kinds of wierd theorys like Teach having Zoan fruit or ninja-cat as pet, whatevz.. But I think that explains it pretty much, ye?
-
Overall I thought this episode was fine. I'm glad Whitebeard made the cut this week. I thought the closeups of the vein in Luffy's forehead were a nice touch. Chopper cheering in monster point was hilarious to me. I know he's been in that form for a while as far as episodes go, but timewise I don't think it's been that long.
The only thing that really annoyed me about the episode was a little too much citizen "Strawhat!!" shouting. It seemed like a pretty uninspired and obvious way to try to fill the time. I can forgive it, though, since the content sort of forced them to stretch this bit out longer than they would have liked.
-
Yeah, I didn't like this as much as the previous episode. I would have maybe made this episode half the length and then get a head start on the next chapter. Course, then the next episode would have cut into the next chapter…
