the animation forum is all a tizzy
It'll be mostly comedic.
Good or bad?

Not sure could be either.

Considering that the comedy episodes of the original were among the best episodes of the series, I'm inclined to say good myself.
Well on one side… the comedic episodes are regarded as fan favorites like both Mad Mod episodes, and all the Control Freak episodes. But they also have some of the worst... Mother May-I...
But I think people remember titans more because of the engaging yet dark plot points Season 2 and beyond had.
I hope they expand the team. If there's one thing I love about superhero shows, it's other characters from that universe.
Wasn't Mother Mae-Eye supposedly a last minute replacement script for an intended musical episode that fell through for whatever reason?
yeah they basically wrote that episode in one night in a rush
doesn't count!!
Hmm, going to approach this one with cautious optimism. Loved the original Teen Titans show and it's great that they've got the same voice actors and animation style, but as a chibi comedy show? Hmm…I don't know, but hopefully it'll work.

Actually, I generally didn't like it that much when they showcased other Titans. Titans East never did much for me, and let's not even get started on that horrendously disappointing final season.
The best episode to involve Titans East was For Real and even that was solely due to Control Freak and his online buddies.
Anyway, I think the character dynamics that they have set up with the primary cast are so good that they don't actually need to expand it. There's no real need to be filled by adding anybody on a permanent basis.
So this can just be full blown comedy while Young Justice does the serious? Neat, though the parallel Robins and Beast Boys might confuse some. (But I suppose the all chibi style will mostly prevent that.)
And since the show already mined all the really good serious stories from that era of the comics anyway, its not like there any massively dramatic stories left that desperately need adapting either.
But all in all, I liked the Titans cast better than the YJ cast, those five just had a really good balance to them. Whenever they threw others in it always messed things up.
Not sure I could deal with Slade/Deathstroke in chibi form, however.
Isn't Slade dead? Or in hell?
I forgot what happened to him to be completely honest.
Slade died and then came back. It was during Raven's arc; her dad brought him back as a minion and somehow got away after Raven's dad was defeated~
Slade reclaimed his soul when he helped Robin find Raven. He fought that guard guy and opened a shiny door that apparently had his soul and he was golden.
"and he was never heard from again"
Who cares if it's comedy or not, my childhood's coming back, that's all that matters!
Seriously though, I liked the serious bits too. Hopefully if this reboot of sorts does well, then they'll start bringing back other elements of the series. Probably not, but I can dream…
Oh man. If they made a Teen Titans East cartoon, I'd watch it so hard. My favorite episodes feature them or Mad Mod.
"and he was never heard from again"
Now I want a Deathstroke show now…with some crossover from Deadpool...of course this is impossible...but that one comic gave me hope~
Two of my favorite Mercs...

Ah, best news I've heard all day.
I liked how the old TT show was sometime silly, sometime serious… I don't know yet what I think of the new one, I'll have to watch a few episodes first. After all, I though that I would hate "Batman tb&tb" and the Rock Lee spinoff of Naruto because of the sillyness, but I ended up loving both because of the sillyness... But I do love more serious shows as well so... :wassat:
Mad Mod should be the main villain of the new show! Slade is too serious to be silly... Mad Mod is definitely my fav silly villain and I think that he would fit nicely in the new show. If Mad Mod is the main villain, I'll definitely watch it!
Ooooh! I didn't know about this! <3 I'll have to give the show a gander.
Some background designs.
Don't know how many of you have been keeping up with the Teen Titans shorts, but they're seriously great. You should check them all out. This one, in particular, is a must-see.

ok that was a funny one. a whole lot of references in this one.
I like how it went all the way back to the '50s (right? I can't watch the video, but I saw the short a while ago), when the rest of them didn't exist!

Nah, they only went as far back as the 60's (did they exist back then? I dunno).

Okay, I looked 'em up!
Cyborg: 1980
Raven: 1980
Starfire: 1980
Beast Boy: 1965
Cyborg, Starfire and Raven were all introduced in the same comic (DC Comics Presents #26), while Beast Boy debuted in Doom Patrol #99.

Yay!! Mad Mod! I like him a lot. He's like an evil version of Austin Powers!
Sweet, this gives me an excuse to catch up on Teen Titans.
NetFlix doesn't have it. How odd. Oh well, they force me to use alternative methods!
(i.e. just renting the show from my local Hastings for 49 cents a day :P)
i wish youtube had all the shorts
i loved the Cyborg lifeguard one
i also noticed how Mad Mods robots changed like the Titans
90's - Power Rangers
80's - Transformers (the decepticons)
70's - Mr. T
60's - ok im stumped. lone ranger?
60s: John Wayne maybe?
Beast Boy's ears really bug me. They're too busy looking like this and draw the eye away from his face.
Why am I only just now finding out about this? Why didn't anyone tell me?
You people aren't friends.
I'm not sure if I'm happy with the flash look(I'd prefer something more wild and hand-drawn), but it does not stiff or cheap. So I'll give it a chance. If anything, it still looks expressive enough.
Hmm, I'll wait till I see it in motion before passing judgement, but seeing the Flash animation used in MAD and picturing it with these drawings is sniff troubling [/Mordin]
In theory I have no problem with flash animation, long as its used like in Samurai Jack or Ponies… and not in anything Cartoon Network does to be cheap where the characters just stand there and lipflap.

[/ video]The best part is Raven's look never changes at all.
this was the thing that i was most interested in tbh
Maybe for the season finale, we’ll wrap up all the loose ends left over from the old series to make everyone happy! You never know!”
You know… if this wasn't an already established cartoon, I'd be stoked about this art style. Its actually REALLY colorful, fun looking. Its just... wanted the old Teen Titans cartoon. But otherwise this look kind of cool.
The thing that confuses me is they are saying part of the reason for this show is because the shorts were so successful. How can the shorts have been that sucessful when THEY ARE PLAYED DURING BREAKS OF TWO SHOWS WHICH YOU CANCELED? Are they saying that cartoon network viewership spiked DURING the commercials?
They could be gaging it based off of fan reaction such as Google and YouTube searches for Teen Titans, or how people react to articles about the show. nick did similar things with korra by annoucing season 2 before the first episode.
It won't be quite the same without Deathstroke showing up every fourth episode to fuck with Robin though.

That better be the goddamn case. Cuz if it isnt…

Slade's intro episode was a really weird one, I had no idea what they were going to do with him.
He manipulates two Gods into doing battle dressed as an old wizard, needless to say, I was so confused.
But I really liked him, even though as far as DS was taking things, it almost made you wonder where the heck Batman was.
Especially since he was alluded to.
